Vashon, Washington
May and June weeks newly available.
Located on the prime Quartermaster Inner Harbor, overlooking the Yacht Club, with the best views on the Island.
Our Beachhouse, with huge deck and Greatroom layout, is perfectly suited for group enjoyment and relaxation. There are four bedrooms (three with king/queen beds and one with bunkbeds), two baths and a rec room downstairs with a ping pong table and queen futon.
The Greatroom has a large and cozy fireplace (pushbutton insert, the largest available) and large screen TV with Smart capabilities. Two separate seating areas accommodate 10 comfortably.
Huge windows. In Summer, watch the boats parade just in front. Quartermaster Yacht Club with it's sailboat-only (read: quiet) membership provide a serene backdrop to your barbeque or cocktails on the deck.
In Fall, weather stays warm through much of October, enough to enjoy the deck and dining alfresco. Witness the annual flock migrations as they fly by at eye level, and watch them dive for the rich bounty of the harbor.
In Winter, the view becomes dramatic. A roaring fireplace keeps everyone toasty while watching the storms roll in over the harbor. The best time of year for the hot tub:-)
Extra cleaning measures include hot-water wash with extra rinse for all linens provided, disinfected surfaces, and no-contact arrival. Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes provided.
High-speed internet for those working remotely. Comcast 100 mps. Lots of separate workspaces; two bedrooms have desks, an office area in the kitchen, and a kitchen table with the best view of all.
An open-concept demonstration kitchen, spacious and with views from every window, allows for lots of group cooking and entertaining. A gas high-BTU stove makes it easy.
Dining table accommodates 10 for dinner. The piano in the room ensures everyone is entertained!
The massive deck is the best of the house. Watch the boats navigate to and from the Quartermaster Yacht Club, as well as the marina, all day long. Surrounded by towering 200' trees, eagles and cormorants are amazing to watch. Very private, you cannot see neighbors and have your own private beach. A gas grill is provided for your use. Dock for your boat.
A state-of-the-art eight (8!) person Grandee Hot Springs Hot tub overlooks the harbor as well. Using silver-ion technology for cleanliness, it relies on bromine, for those with sensitivities and is completely sanitized between guests. It features a color-lightshow option for evening fun.
The Fourth of July Vashon Fireworks display, which rivals Seattle's, is shot from a barge anchored in the inner harbor, DIRECTLY IN FRONT of our deck. Definitely the best place for the 4th.
The Inner Harbor is calm and full of areas to explore. Two marinas, a Kayak Center, boat launch and park are all walking distance. We offer a rowboat and two stand-up paddle boards, as well as all sizes of life vests. Seals, herons, cormorants and a huge variety of crabs and clams are all there to observe and enjoy.
Vashon is rural country, but you can walk to the best General Store left in the county, Harbor Mercantile (The Burton Store), a gorgeous 10 minutes walk. Also walking, the friendly Burton Coffee Stand is across the street. The Burton Loop, with its renowned Kayaking Center, parks and summer camp, is also a walk away. You can flag-stop Metro buses at the front gate of the house, for a ride into Vashon, the ferry, Seattle or Tacoma. If you're driving, there is room for 4 cars.
In July and August, we have a 5-day minimum stay. Blackberries rule Vashon, and the sweetest and fattest come from this part of the island, everywhere you look. Recipes for ice cream, preserves, pie and sauces are in the cupboard, as is a terrific ice-cream maker. The sweet fragrance permeates the island!
Lovely view and cozy interior.
Staying here, so close to the water, is a bit like living on a ship - the view is incredible from every room (the pictures are great and still somehow don't do it justice). If you know Burton, the location makes the coffee stand very convenient. Our kiddos loved the toy collection, the kitchen was well appointed, and we slept so well. Hope we'll be back!
Beautiful! We enjoyed the waterside location with great views. Everything was easy and comfortable. Kitchen was spacious and well equipped. Many thoughtful details such as small nightlights, charging stations, access to paddle boards, hot tub, BBQ, puzzles, toy shelves, drawers and hangars, decorative lighting, piano, extra pillows and bedding, etc. So comfortable for our entire family.
suzanne could not have been easier and wonderul to work with
Wonderful location, beautiful view. Be advised only two small old bathrooms if that doesn't work for you. We were 6 ladies who are used to traveling together and don't do a lot of primping so it was fine for us. We weren't strong enough to get the extremely heavy rowboat in the water, but instead enjoyed the paddle board and yoga with a view!
Great peaceful —-fully stocked kitchen
Suzanne’s home has a picturesque view of Quartermaster Harbor and lots of space to relax. Beds are comfy. The home is well equipped for cooking and dining in, and the town of Vashon has good restaurant options as well.
Great views, great friends, great fun. The property was amazing and had everything we needed to have a great time. Suzanne is wonderful and great to work with. We will be back!
Great place for our group, father and three adult sons, to hang outlong weekends. weekend. Enjoyed cooking opportunities in the kitchen and grill.
OMG...step outside!!! The view and wildlife will mesmerize you daily. The beds and baths did not get the best reviews, although we found the master bedroom comfy with a water view :) The kitchen, dining and living rooms were great! We will be back!
We had a small family get together at this lovely house! We all gathered for morning coffee on the deck while seated around the fire pit, and watched the sun come up each morning. The grandkids loved the provided toys and games, but mostly enjoyed paddle boarding with their parents out in the harbor. Suzanne is a great host, and responds quickly to questions. We hope to stay here again!
We enjoyed another great vacation on Vashon Island due in no small measure to the Anderson's great home. The location is excellent, overlooking a small bay and yacht harbor. The great room lets you take it all in with a wall-to-wall expanse of windows. Convenient too - only 5 minutes from Vashon's commercial district. The large, trex-deck deserves mention too; It's another great space to relax and take in the view. We spent a lot of time outside enjoying an afternoon glass of wine around the BBQ and dining al fresco! Would definitely consider this home again.
We had 3 generations of family together - ages 9-75 - and this was a great spot for everyone. Kitchen very well equipped for the 2 chefs in the group, deck and layout of the house made it easy to accommodate various ages and activities. Owner went out of her way to make sure everything went smoothly and graciously helped retrieve a left-behind item. Beautiful views, various wildlife-watching, comfortable living spaces. Highly recommended!
We had a great time at Suzanne's place, spending most of the time on the deck overlooking the water, near the dock tooling around on paddleboards, and in the nice kitchen cooking meals. She was always really responsive if we had a question. It was great that they provided paddleboards! Please note that while it's listed as a five bedroom property, the fifth sleeping area doesn't have a door and the futon (which is pretty comfortable) is right next to the ping pong table.
Immediately walking into this home you're struck by the gorgeous waterfront view where we saw herons and sea otters. Grilling on the deck over looking the water was the highlight of our trip. The master bed was very comfortable and the layout of the kitchen/living room provided many cooks in the kitchen and great flow. Good for groups.
My husband and I, our daughter and son-in-law and their 10 and 12 yo grandchildren enjoyed our weekend. The ping pong table, mini pool table, piano, hot tub, and outdoor grill and fire pit were all well used by us. Despite rainy and cool weather we found nearby beaches and parks to explore. The kitchen was well supplied and there was plenty of room for several cooks to work at the same time.
We stayed for a few days over spring break and it was exactly what we needed. Walking into the home you immediately feel like you're on vacation. A beautiful view of the marina and quiet, calm harbor. We loved the hot tub (very clean and easy to use), ping pong table, and rowboat. The kitchen, dining and living space were are very comfortable. The beds were also very comfortable. My husband worked from the house and the Internet speed was great. The only downside was the basement smelled a bit musty, but it wasn't too bad.
