Boulder, Colorado
Welcome to Frank's brand new handmade home tucked into a mountainside in Roosevelt National Forest 10 miles west of Boulder, Colorado. Elevation 7800 ft. Expansive views of Dream Canyon climbing cliffs to the south and the peaks of the Continental Divide to the west grace this home with natural beauty.
This one-level south facing passive solar home has flagstone floors throughout to store the heat while the welded bridgework trusses support a galvanized metal ceiling which in turn supports a living roof. The wood interior trim, cabinetry and arched doors took Frank a year to complete, making the house a visual treat.
This 1700 square foot home offers 2 master bedroom suites with walk-in closets and full bathrooms, and a great room encompassing kitchen and living area with central wood stove, pantry and utility room with laundry facilities.
Outside there is a dramatic 360 degree panoramic view of mountains and sky, sunrise, sunset and the whole Milky Way.
This entire home (minus the attached garage/storage) is yours to enjoy:
Two spacious master suites with exterior doors, queen sized beds, comfy seating, full bathrooms with tub/shower combo, and giant walk-in closets.
Great room - full kitchen with new appliances (dishwasher, fridge with icemaker, gas range, microwave), dining table and chairs, couches and recliner.
Television - Roku with Netflix, Wireless Internet
Utility room with washer and dryer, and laundy soap.
Linens and towels provided.
Ask your hosts about local hiking and biking trails.
One of your hosts will greet you upon arrival at the main road to lead you down to Frank's house. (Google Maps is known to mislead.)
Your hosts live nearby and are available by phone or email, or just come knock on the door for assistance should you need it.
Weather is a big deal up here on Sugarloaf; expect it to be 10 degrees cooler than in Boulder. Be prepared for temperature swings and sudden changes including thunderstorms, wind, rain, and maybe even snow. Bring clothing layers!
Wildlife is abundant! There are bears, mountain lions, deer, elk, moose, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, eagles, hawks, and mountain bluebirds.
Mountain terrain can be challenging so hiking apparel is useful: boots, sunscreen, hiking sticks, sunscreen, hats, sunscreen, water bottles, etc.
The nearest grocery stores and restaurants are 10 miles to the east (Boulder) or west (Nederland), so come prepared.
Frank's house has good water from a deep well.
This neighborhood is sparsely populated and very quiet. Frank's place is at the end of a half mile dirt drive. From inside the house all one sees is nature. Standing outside of the house only 4-5 homes are visible. We love our privacy.
Seasonal climbers on the Dream Canyon cliffs provide ringside entertainment from the large front room bay windows.
Our location provides the opportunity to decompress. Nature = Sanity.
Guests will need a vehicle. Any usual car is fine for the summer months. In other seasons we would recommend sturdier cars with all wheel drive and good tires in case of wilder weather.
Bring your mountain bikes and hiking boots for the trails.

This property deserves more than five stars. Everything was perfect.
The property is all about the view! Large windows look out over the canyon below and mountains beyond. We stayed for the month of January and enjoyed the amazing setting. The house is well stocked and perfect for enjoying the beautiful setting.
Beautiful view in a comfortable well stocked VRBO. Hostess checked in during our stay as well rot make sure we didn’t have any needs. Close enough to Boulder to run into town to shop/dine but far enough away to be out in the mountains.
From our initial contact to our warm farewell, everything about Frank's home and our stay was superb. Our time included a mother-daughters much anticipated reunion, combined with hosting a bachelorette brunch for one daughter. Holadia could not have been more kind and accomodating as we worked out a parking plan (only room for 2-3 vehicles) with gracious offer to have me visit before our stay. The home is exceptionally crafted with attention to aesthetic detail, comfort, ambiance and beauty. We wanted guests to feel like they were truly on a getaway, yet have easy access to Boulder where we had some of the weekend events planned. (axe throwing was a hoot!) It took about one breath upon arrival to change gears and shift into peace mode. (absence of cell signal helped with unplugging, but landline and internet allowed guests to communicate as needed) ) We are so grateful to have been able to make treasured memories in this precious space.
Everything from the hospitality, the location, the view, the design — it was all perfection. The bonuses: Laundry was ideal for post-hike clothes. Coffee in the fridge upon arrival. Breakfasts at the picnic table with Mountain View’s and several hummingbirds at the feeder. Great showers. Comfortable bed. There was even enough wifi to stream a movie at the end of a day of adventuring. Our hosts were kind, accommodating, and very thoughtful. It truly was a dream.
Fully loaded kitchen with equipment and an ample spice selection. View was panoramic including day and night rock climbers across the valley. Bring binoculars.
Home was as portrayed with amazing views and very spacious, comfortable setting. The hosts were very helpful in all ways. We loved the place.
The property is beautiful and the setting is gorgeous. If you want a good dose of nature, quiet and peace but still within a stones throw of a great city like Boulder, look no further! This place is great and the owners thought if everything. Plenty of supplies for cooking, the beds are SUPER comfortable (no flat old pillows here!) and if you’re wondering if it’s clean, YES! Very clean. Come and see the mountains, you’ll love it!
We spent our anniversary here and had the most wonderful time. Holadia was very accommodating and made us feel more than welcomed. The pictures are nothing compared to the home or the views that surround it. It was incredible waking up to majestic mountains every morning and watching the sun melt behind them in the evening. We spent our nights watching movies by the wood burning stove and playing the board games that were available. Boulder was not too far away for our shopping needs, even though the house was stocked with plenty of essentials. There is also a ski resort about 30 miles away and the drive to Estes Park (which I recommend) was amazing. If we ever venture back this way again, we will definitely be staying here. It was more than we could have hoped for.
This property is a MUST see! It is everything it says and more! The views are breathtaking! The house is very clean, cozy and well stocked! I made Thanksgiving dinner from scratch! I spoke to the hosts in advance and the only pan I needed was my own roasting pan! I took all my main foods. They have a great pantry with sugar, some canned goods and condiments. They also have butter, condiments and cream(for coffee they provide) in the fridge. There is a selection of tea and hot chocolate if your lucky enough to be there when it snows, which we were! We used the wood burning stove, so relaxing! They had the driveway and sidewalk well taken care of! Very friendly hosts and so wonderful to work with! Want to go back with my husband and another couple if we can!
