Stayed Apr 23, 2018Perfectly positioned to explore the local amenities and countryside, with plenty of restaurants and cafes a short drive away.A very good place to base an outdoors themed holiday or short break for an authentic feel of the real Portugal ! The hosts Tina and Harry are always very helpful with tips, help and local knowledge to make your stay an enjoyable experience. And if that isn't enough they can source you some really good red or white wines , what more could you want ?

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We spent one week in Tina and Harry's cottage, closed to Amarante. It's a beautiful place, nice cottage, well equiped and clean. Tina and Harry are lovely people who do all they can to make your holidays as nice as possible. Amarante is a very nice town. The historic area is very interesting and you can have great views on the river. If you want to eat well, go to Taberna d'Azenha (2 km from the cottage). Maria and her daughter Joanna are very nice. The food is good, simple and not expensive. Great address !!! All my love to the pets !!! : Candy, Mel and Poppy !!! Thanks Tina and Harry for your kindness. Isabelle

Stayed Jul 10, 2017We spent 9 nights in Orange Tree cottage ,myself, husband and 2 adult children. The accomodation was spacious and had a great sitting out area under the vines. Harry and Tina were great hosts ,always making sure all was ok. We asked for a hairdryer ,iron and barbecue. All were discreetly put at our front door when we were out. The pool area was amazing and for the first week we had it to ourselves. As it was extremely hot we spent a lot of time at the poolThe TV in the pool house was ideal as it allowed us to watch Wimbolden in the sun. We ate out most nights .Our favourite was La Pera it was a bit of a drive but worth it for the quality of food. Little things make this a great destination .The bread van at 10.30 delivers great cakes and bread every day. We also have to mention Candy ,the dog. She was a gem Thank you Harry and Tina

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed here with our 2 children (aged 6 and 7) for a week but by the time we left we wished we had booked for longer. The cottages have everything they need, are clean, the pool is only a few steps away with plenty of deckchairs and a great view of the surroundings. There's also plenty of spots to sit in the shade under pergolas covered by vines. Tina and Harry are great hosts without being intrusive. There's the river down below if you want a change from the pool and there's plenty of cities/sights to visit within an hour's drive. We don't usually go to the same place twice but if we ever visit Portugal again we wouldn't hesitate to come back here. Thanks again for a great stay!!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed here for 10 days with our teenage children and had planned to chill one day and sight see the next. That didn't quite work to plan as once we had spent a day by the pool lounging on the quality sun loungers we were hooked! We did go to Porto on the local bus which only took an hour and is well worth a visit, in fact we will come back for a weekend to explore it more. The cottages are in beautiful location and only around 3 miles to Amarante which has plenty of restaurants. By the way, this is by far the cheapest holiday we have ever had. We ate what and where we wanted and the most expensive meal including wine, desserts etc came to around £40!!! The cottages are very well equipped with all you'll need and very clean. Harry and Tina are lovely people and are there for you if you need them but not at all intrusive. North Portugal is completely different to the Algarve and if it's fish and chips you're after then this area wouldn't be for you. Definitely recommend it. Thank you Harry and Tina .

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I booked this place to celebrate my 60th birthday with my family and friends and I wasn't disappointed. My husband and I stayed in Olive Tree with friends. The place is only a short drive from Amarante where there are some lovely bars and shops. Porto is only 45mins by bus. We decided to go by bus as we weren't sure about parking. Porto is fantastic lots to do. We also drove to Regua, where you can have a boat trip on the Douro. As there were 10 of us we booked the whole place. There was ample parking for all three cars. Our cottage was lovely, thick stone walls tiled floors. One double room and one twin. Everything that we needed was catered for. We needed a blender and Tina the owner loaned us hers. Nothing was too much trouble. There was extra bedding in the drawers if it got cold. It is an ideal place if you have a large group as there a communal room by the Pool for meeting. There is a television which you can receive British channels. There are fantastic views from this area. Sun loungers, table and chairs. Harry and Tina thought of everything. It is a quiet place ideal for walking reading just chilling. It is also suitable for individual families as each cottage is separate from each other. All having there own outdoor areas to sit. Every morning at 10.00am the bread van would arrive. You could hear his horn across the river then five minutes later he arrived, but you have to be quick. We will certainly be back.
