Babb, Montana
The StoneHouse at Duck Lake was designed and built by Montana songwriter, David Walburn, as a private retreat for outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, fishermen, hunters and eco-minded travelers. If you are looking for a unique Montana vacation rental with access to real Montana adventures, look no further than the StoneHouse at Duck Lake.
Those who appreciate the wild beauty of Montana's east side, will also appreciate the simple artisan approach to this unique rustic home with exquisite views of Glacier Park's mountains.
The StoneHouse sits on a beautiful scenic ridge with panoramic views from the Cut Bank Plains to Chief Mountain and is centrally located to quickly access St. Mary's and Many Glacier entrance points into Glacier National Park.
David designed and built the StoneHouse using green building materials to enhance its durability and energy efficiency against the wild eastern Montana climate. He recently added a sauna to help our guest's relax from a day's outdoor adventures

We do not offer Wi-Fi. The reliability of wifi in our rural location made it impossible to keep a connection. We do have some access using Verizon so we encourage guests to use their phone as personal hotspots if needed. Unplug and enjoy the mountains and wildlife! (Version users can get great signal and use phone as hotspot for internet service. Sorry, no AT&T service available.

Geat location on the east side of Glacier National Park providing quick access to St. Mary's Valley, Logan's Pass, and Manny Glacier Valley sections of the park. Also just a 45 minute drive to Waterton National Park in Canada.
Owner responded promptly to all questions. Setting was gorgeous. It had ample supplies of towels, kitchen towels, dishes, plus many extras. Very close to St Mary's & Many Glacier.
Great location for easy access to Many Glacier and St. Mary's entrances to GNP. Clean, comfortable, well stocked. Enjoy a most stunning view of the mountains of Glacier from the dining room table all day, every day. Loved the quiet, unplugged, remoteness of this location. No wifi. Verizon service worked best. Great communication from host at all times before, during and after the visit. Shop before you arrive as grocery stores nearby are limited (host told us that ahead of time as well) Saw moose, deer and cows on the land behind the house. Would stay there again and will recommend to friends. Perfect for those who want a quieter, Glacier National Park experience.
Great launching point for Many Glacier, St Mary's, and Two Medicine. House slept 4 very comfortably and everything worked well. Great views of Glacier National Park. We definitely would rent again!
We enjoyed the house and the property. The views and location are ideal for East side (i.e., less crowded) entry into the park. Our only negative is that the basement is musty smelling. It would improve the house if there was a way to minimize that smell. While it wasn't a problem for our family members that stayed downstairs, there are others for whom that would have been unpleasant. Communication with owner was easy.
The property is perfect for an east side stay. Easy access is Many Glacier Valley and St. Mary’s entrance.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Stone House! Equipped with everything we needed, great location, and the best part was the views all around!! There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views from both the inside and the outside of the house. We would definitely recommend this house to others!
The house is decorated with a lot of detail complementing the surrounding area. We had a great stay and hope to come back.
Great location on east side of GlacierNP, with easy access to St. Mary and Many Glacier entrances. Nice sized house with plenty of room to spread out. Communication with owner was great.
Four men over 67 spent 5 days on the Blackfeet Reservation, staying at the StoneHouse. It was designed and built by the owner, musician Dave Walburn, who is a song writer, guitar player and singer. The StoneHouse is a reflection of Dave's asthetic as an artist. Inside and out, Dave's choices are like the composition of his tunes_ a pleasure to behold. Iff one looks, he/she can see that the protective firewall behind the living room stove reflects the silhouette of the actual mountain range viewed through the house's west window. Many other details throughout the house demonstrate Dave's skills as a carpenter and creative designer. His attention to detail make the StoneHouse a special place to stay. This was our second year staying at Dave's beautiful and interesting StoneHouse. Thanks, Dave, for helping make our MT experience so special.
NIce house, everything we needed. Great view.
Absolutely fabulous property with breathtaking sunsets of Chief Mountain! Great place to get away and reflect on Gods beautiful design!!!
Great Views! The owners are pleasant and welcoming. Clean home that is well kept.
This home was the perfect place to relax in after long days exploring East Glacier. It was well stocked with all of the necessities that we needed. We enjoyed cooking out on the gas grill and drinking coffee on the porch in the mornings. Beds were comfy, living space was relaxing, playing pool was a lot of fun for the family- and the views were AMAZING!! We watched the most breathtaking sunsets from the patio area- they didn’t even look real. This was the perfect location for our time exploring Glacier. We did lots of hikes, and highly recommend the Observatory session at St. Mary’s visitor center if that’s going on while you are there. It was taking place Wed-Sat while we were there, so we went one of the nights and saw more stars (shooting stars and the Milky Way) than we’ve ever seen in the night sky. Totally worth staying up late one night. I’m not sure if it mentions this in the description or not, but for my teens it was a little shocking- there wasn’t a TV or internet/WiFi- which was totally fine and allowed us more time to play games and reconnect as a family, but I wanted to mention it. For us, it just made it challenging to plan for our daily hikes because we weren’t able to see what closures there were each day. Other thing I wanted to mention is to go grocery shopping in one of the bigger towns before heading to the house if you plan on packing lunches or cooking dinner. There are a couple of local markets but they have very limited options for meats and veggies. Overall our stay in this home was perfect!! We enjoyed all of the little unique touches that this home had to offer. The artwork throughout the home was beautiful and it was clear home much detail David put in to making this home extra special.
We loved, loved, loved this cabin! It had all the modern conveniences without sacrificing the rustic charm! The location was ideal! A great place to stay while exploring Glacier! I can’t wait to return.
This property was cozy sand beautiful. The views were spectacular and it was just the right amount of seclusion from the busy world for our family of five. We were able to fully relax and be in “vacation mode” upon entering this great spot. Really-just stop reading other reviews and snag your dates here! We stopped at both the IGA and Family Foods in Browning for groceries-trust me and skip the IGA, Family Foods is where it’s at. We also had the pleasure of dining at Rising Sun Pizza in St. Mary’s-that place is delicious. Just come here, trust us.
The house was everyrhing we wanted and more! This by far has been my favorite place to stay on the East side of GNP. We will be back for sure.
This house was perfect! We loved it! The views from the kitchen table will wake you up early and make it hard to go to bed! Overall such a nice place! We can’t say enough good things! The owners were easy to work with and made everything easy! We would stay again for sure!
Our stay at the Stone House was spectacular. The house was great, the views were amazing and the owner was very helpful. Best Vrbo experience for all of us.
This house was perfect. There isn’t another way to put it. The area is beautiful and it’s only a series of short drives to some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. Everything about this trip was amazing and the House was the center point of the entire thing.
