Ocean-View Hillside 2-Bedroom Bungalow Olde Del Mar

Pros: - Amazing location - Stunning ocean view Cons: - The couch is seriously stained, not very inviting to sit on (my in-laws preferred the dining table chairs.) - We initially couldn't find the washing machine and dryer, even though the owner had mentioned they were under the carport. Unfortunately, my in-laws, for whom we booked the apartment, didn't have the best time: On their arrival day, they were told about a water leak issue, and they had to go outside at night to open and close a valve to use water. We get that these things happen, but it was a bit of a bummer that the owner didn't get a plumber to fix it the same day. We found out about the leak early in the evening on the check-in day, and the plumber didn't show up until the next day. What's more, while the owner was nice on the phone and apologized for the trouble, they didn't offer a refund for that night, which we thought would've been fair. Then, there was another hiccup when the code lock stopped working, and my in-laws got locked out one morning. The owner told them where to find a spare key, but it turned out there was no key because the cleaner had taken it by mistake. So, my in-laws had to wait for over an hour overall until the cleaner showed up and they could finally get in. Again, the owner didn't offer any compensation. In the end, I reached out to the owner and asked for some compensation for these incidents. They agreed to waive the cleaning fee and give us a $100 refund.

Over all a very nice stay. The couch needs a good clean, and there was a strange smell in the house, but otherwise we were quite happy.

We spent 2 weeks in August and everything was just perfect. Justin is a wonderful host, always ready to answer our questions and fix our needs.

Property is 1 mile from the beach. Can easily walk there. House is clean but couch needs to be updated or replaced. Beds were comfortable and deck is nice and has ocean views.

The property is amazing. Lots of things for kids to explore. Great location, close to shops and the beach.

Great stay

Very lovely home in a perfect neighborhood

My daughter and I had an enjoyable and comfortable stay. We loved the walk up the hill from the village and the views (and windows) were terrific. The house was well stocked with kitchen essentials which was great since we usually prepared meals there. The owner was very friendly and super responsive. Just a note, in case it matters, the property is small, the angles are a bit funky and the furniture well used, but functional.

Small, quiet space with great view from deck. Deck was best spot for coffee in the AM and wine in the PM. Some nice updates in kitchen and bath. Furniture should be updated!

The house is in a very nice section of del mar. The yard is typical for San Diego area- on a steep hill. The house has a nice living room, kitchen was well supplied, beds were a little uncomfortable, but we are older. The view is beautiful and there is a lot to do really close. There is no AC, and it was a little warm when we got there (82). After a day, it cooled off. It was a little difficult to get the owner, but the cleaning service was still there when we got there at check-in, so she gave us a code. We had a nice time overall.
