About the Property
This property has 40 acres of pristine mountain and river access. Southtoe River Ranch has miles of walking trails and chose to 1 mile of river where you can fish, picnic, explore, swim, tube/canoe and float the river. The property once had a working mica mine on the property that now has been turned into an awesome picnic area which also has a deep swimming hole that has been used by past generations over the last 100 years. Also unique to this property is that you have both long distance Mountain views and river views on the same property. The river ranch has horses to look at and a working orchard and vineyard. There are many walking trails from the lodge down to the river to explore. Walking down to the overlook platform from the lodge to relax and drink your coffee and listen to the river is an awesome experience. This is a very private secluded property to which there are many places to sit and relax and just enjoy the peace and quiet of the North Carolina Mountains.

The Location
The Southtoe River Ranch is incredibly easy to get to and conveniently located between two very scenic mountain communities of Burnsville NC and Spruce Pine NC. You can reach either historic town in about 10 minutes for grocery shopping or dinning out at some fantastic local restaurants and or visiting several breweries in which to choose from. Scenic golfing is only 20 minutes away in Spruce Pine which is rated 4 ½ stars by Golf Digest, and voted #1 semi-private course in the region by the readers of the Asheville Citizen Times. There are a lot of hiking trials with majestic waterfalls in the area like Roaring Fork waterfall which is one of the regions prettiest falls, and one of the easiest to hike. Another one of our favorite things to do is a trip to Linville Falls which is only about 25 minutes away. Pack a picnic when you go and after your hike from seeing the huge waterfalls we suggest you stop by Linville Falls Winery on your way back. The wine and atmosphere there at the vineyard is gorgeous. Make a day trip to Asheville. It’s only 45-50 minutes away and has some of the best restaurants, microbreweries, galleries and outdoor adventure activities like ziplining in the Southeast. Another must see if you have not been to Asheville is a visit to the incredible Biltmore Estate. A visit here is a must as its one of the most iconic estates to visit in the United States.

Amazing property! We all enjoyed hanging by/in the river. Especially the dogs! Host is very commutative and friendly. The garage doors were great for letting a nice breeze through the house and enjoying the amazing view. Getting to say hi to the horses each day was also a great bonus.

My wife and our pets wanted to escape the heat of West TN and we found the spot! It’s a beautiful location that we didn’t want to leave. The view over the mountains from the home is excellent. We got to watch fireworks all over the valley below on the 4th of July. There is also awesome access to the beautiful South Toe river down the mountain below the house. The owner looked in multiple times and was always quickly responsive. We will definitely be back!

Southtoe River Ranch was amazing. We were looking for peace and quiet and green and that’s what we got. Our family got together and integrated with nature. To our family it was therapy. And we are so thankful to had found this property for our vacation. The River is so beautiful and it’s awesome to have it in your “backyard” the kids had so much fun feeeding the horses. And our dogs lovedddd the grass so much. Very grateful for this healing time at Southtoe River Ranch. We appreciated it big time. We will return soon.

Our family had a blast staying here. It was a kids dream house with so many games to play. We enjoyed the huge tv for family movies open floor plan and the fireplace. All of the cabinets fixtures furniture seems very new and we’re posh by our standards. Most of all we enjoyed the outdoors. We hiked all over and the river is gorgeous. We fed the horses carrots. We’d like to return someday in the summer and experience the house again with the overhead doors open and be able to swim and play in the water.

Everything about our stay was perfect. The home was beautiful, the property amazing and the resident horses were our best friends by the time we left. My kids were begging to book our next visit before we left. Thanks to the hosts for a fantastic long weekend.

Jeff is an awesome host and answered any question we had at any time. This is a unique wonderful property that offers pretty much anything you can think of that will keep you having fun if it rains or is sunny out, with daylight or at night, for those who are active and want to hike and fish or just watch sports or a movie. Loved the pinball. I highly reccomend.

Great place and great time. Very convenient location for a mountain experience. Easy to get to and easy to get to shopping, etc…. The river was great, as advertised. Safe for tubes, giant swimming hole. Excellent chairs on the property for sitting and relaxing in various, well thought out locations. The house was great. Pinball, movie watching, shuffle board, fire place. The horses were funny and yes Jeff, they love apples! We loved it!
