Available to the public for the first time, Nick’s Hideaway is a custom-built lakefront home in Wisconsin’s Lake Country, about thirty minutes from Milwaukee. Set on 1.75 wooded acres with a private beach, pier, and 150 feet of shoreline on a quiet private lake, it offers roughly 4,650 square feet of characterful living — a distinctive base for families, executives, and other stays of a month or more.

The home.
Built in 1973 by the president of Trustway Homes as afamily residence and kept in that family ever since, the house is a genuine character home. Cathedral wood ceilings with exposed beams, hand-forged iron and stained-glass fixtures, rich wood panelling, and distinctive inlaid brick-tile floors run throughout.

Living spaces.
At its center is a great room beneath a vaulted wood ceiling, with a baby grand piano. A stone fireplace on the main floor is shared by the great room and the family room, while the primary bedroom has its own brick fireplace; both are decorative. A family room with a wet bar offers another place to gather, and most principal rooms open toward the lake through walls of windows and sliding glass doors.

Dining & kitchen.
A formal dining room and a lakeside dining area both open onto the patio and water views. The kitchen is built around a central island cooktop and includes a stove, oven, microwave, indoor grill, coffee maker, air fryer, and a range of small appliances.

Bedrooms & baths.
Four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms provide generous space, configured as one king and three queen beds (sleeps up to eight). Two baths include soaking whirlpool tubs and skylights. The primary suite has its own decorative brick fireplace, a private sitting area with a massage chair, and a dressing room with dual walk-in closets.

Work & study.
A private wood-panelled office — with a stone accent wall, built-in shelving, and a printer/scanner — suits remote work or an extended assignment.

Lower level & laundry.
The finished lower level includes a ping pong table and a wine cellar. A full laundry room with washer, dryer, and utility sink supports longer stays.

Outdoors & the water.
A broad lakeside patio with ample seating sits beneath mature shade trees, with a lawn sloping to the water, a private beach, and a pier. A kayak, paddle boat, and canoe are provided for use on the private lake, along with basic fishing equipment and life jackets. Guests may also bring their own powered boat (subject to host approval) and use the boat lift. The wooded 1.75-acre grounds are private and park-like, with 150 feet of shoreline. A basketball hoop is mounted beside the home, and an assortment of outdoor games and equipment is available.

What’s included.
For a straightforward, move-in-ready stay, the rent covers electricity, gas, water, trash, lawn care, and snow removal, along with central air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, and cable. An attached garage with one parking space for guests and ample driveway parking are included. Housekeeping can be arranged through the host at the guest’s expense.

Guest access.
Guests have private use of the entire home and grounds — the beach, pier, boat lift, shoreline, patio, and driveway, plus one garage bay. The property is a private single-family residence reserved exclusively for the guest during the stay.

The setting.
Though it carries an Oconomowoc mailing address, the home sits closest to downtown Delafield — one of Lake Country’s most appealing towns, with a walkable downtown on Nagawicka Lake, boutiques, galleries, and well-regarded restaurants.

The Lapham Peak Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest offers hiking, cross-country skiing, and an observation tower, and the Ice Age and Lake Country Trails add biking and walking nearby. Oconomowoc, once called the “Newport of the Midwest,” adds a second historic downtown.

Groceries, Target, and other shopping cluster near the Highway 83 / I-94 interchange, with Metro Market and Sendik’s in Oconomowoc. Aurora Medical Center, Summit — the area’s only Level II Trauma Center — is close by. Delafield sits on I-94, placing downtown Milwaukee about 30 minutes east and Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport roughly 45 minutes away. The area is served by the well-regarded Kettle Moraine School District.

The home reflects its 1973 origins — traditional and richly detailed rather than contemporary. It is a lived-in house, best suited to guests who value craftsmanship, space, and setting.
