Your mountain chalet is located on 3.5 acres of serene land, perched atop Yochum Hill, only 10 minutes from Cherry Springs State Park. The chalet is the perfect setting for a secluded couple getaway, family vacation with up to 9 guests, or a launch pad for a week of outdoor adventures. Thrill seekers can explore hundreds of miles of ATV and snowmobile trails directly from the property, or take a short drive to Lyman Lake, Pa Lumber Museum or the Pa Grand Grand Canyon.

THE SPACE

Your chalet is tucked into the forest atop Yockum Hill and includes 3.5 acre acres of land to explore. This includes an acre of grassy hillside for stargazing, cooking s’mores or sledding in the winter. The remainder of the property is woodland. From the chalet you may ride your ATV on all roads from Memorial Day until Labor Day, and snowmobile during the winter. There's even an attached garage with overhead doors on each end so you can drive your ATV or snowmobile in one side and pull out the other.

There is a gravel parking lot spacious enough for 6+ vehicles or trailers. The attached garage is accessible to you during your stay.

Entering from the side of the home, you will find the laundry area, and a space for coats and shoes. Next you’ll pass through the kitchen which has been fully stocked with the cookware you’ll want to keep your fellow guests well fed.

As you explore the kitchen, your attention will be drawn to the great room by the floor to ceiling stone fireplace and the majestic mountain views pouring through the ten large windows. The pellet stove is easily operated and provides a wonderful radiant heat sufficient to warm the entire first and second floor. There is no AC in the home, but there are two large ceiling fans in the great room, and three oscillating fans provided.

In the great room you’ll find an open floor plan that includes a dining table with seating for 10, a sitting room surrounding the fireplace, and an entertainment space with a 55” smart TV for streaming all your favorite shows and movies.

All of the bedrooms are located on the back half of the home where the shade of the forest will help keep you cool on those warm summer days. There is a large bedroom on the first floor with a queen bed, a large built in shelving unit for clothing and a closet. The second floor has another large bedroom with a queen bed and a third bedroom with a bunk bed setup. The bunk bed includes a full size lower bed and a single lofted bed. In the basement there is a full size mattress inside a pullout couch.

In the basement you’ll find a pool table, vintage 60’s Rockola Jukebox which plays 45s, and another seating area with a pullout couch. There’s another pellet stove to keep you comfortable and two more sliding doors giving you access to the lower deck.

GUEST ACCESS

In general the house and property are yours to enjoy. Exceptions include: the detached garage, 2nd floor owners closet in hallway, and the storage rooms in the basement.

NOTES

There is no AC, you are the dishwasher and 4x4 or AWD are strongly encouraged during ice or snow. The home is remote and the driveway is steep.

I was disappointed in our stay. The photos make it look as if you are in a quiet serene secluded location. You overlook two properties watching your neighbor mow. There wasn't a place for a comfortable outside fire- had to set in the driveway. We arrived a bit early with cleaning staff setting in her car and then we're scolded by the owner because she needed adequate time to clean She was in her car and was finished. Obviously had raced through and then blamed us. We were required to contact owner upon arrival and departure. All made me feel unwelcomed. It took weeks to get the deposit fee which was enormous. Definitely not worth it!!!!

Our weekend stay was certainly wet from the coastal storm but warm from the fireplace and exceptionally comfortable from the furnishings. The view is beautiful in any weather. We hope to return soon.

The house was big and beautiful with excellent views of the mountain range, even just from the windows. It is located in a central location to every activity we planned to do. In particular, we went to stargaze at Cherry Springs State Park. It is only a 12 minute drive to the park from the house. The house had plenty of furniture and entertainment. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of pillows and blankets for our crew.

Perfect experience! The chalet is wonderful and Ben and Thanh are excellent hosts. We had a minor glitch with the lock at check-in and Ben was easy to reach and resolved it immediately. The home is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We relaxed by the fire, grilled, stargazed, visited the PA Grand Canyon, and explored Wellsboro. Views are great and the chalet is filled with games and movies if you decide to just stay in. We left our kids with grandparents for a weekend getaway, but they would have loved it as well. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time staying at Ben and Thanh’s place. Very secluded and very close to Cherry Hill State Park. While the park provided the best stargazing, we could still see so much right from our deck! The house was warm and welcoming and provided everything we needed. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much!

Absolutely amazing stay. Beautiful panoramic views of the hills and the night sky. The house itself is so cozy and really nice. 10 min drive to Cherry Springs with views that rival what you see at the park itself. Great hosts as well, promptly communicate and also provided a lot of great info on nearby attractions! 10/10 would come stay again!

We just got back from a wonderful 3 night stay here. The place was exactly as described, and the hosts were extremely helpful with all the info they provided. We never needed to reach out to ask any questions. We went for a stargazing trip in mid October and got lucky…one night was clear enough to enjoy the view from property. I’m sure it’s a little better in the park, but being from the city, we absolutely loved it and were impressed enough with what we could see right from the house. The other two cloudy days were spent using the pool table and jukebox, bbqing on the grill, enjoying the pellet stove, and playing boardgames around the table so we could see the gorgeous views right out the window. It was an amazing, relaxing trip. Thanks Ben and Thanh!

Was a beautiful home nestled against the woods, it had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting outside on the deck at night viewing the stars, and we actually heard Elk bugling. The host was helpful and responded to all my questions. We loved it!!

We had an absolutely fabulous 3-night stay at this mountain chalet in Cherry Springs, PA! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how well-appointed and thoughtfully designed the home was. It’s simple yet elegant, with every amenity you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The chalet is impeccably maintained and cozy, creating the perfect atmosphere to unwind. We were especially captivated by the breathtaking views and the amazing starry nights—Cherry Springs truly lives up to its reputation as one of the best stargazing spots in the country. The quiet surroundings and serenity of the area made for a peaceful retreat. We loved the combination of modern comforts and rustic charm, and we could easily tell the host takes great pride in offering a top-notch experience. The house has everything you need for a relaxing stay in the country. While the weather didn’t cooperate for us to do any star gazing it was still a great place to relax by the fire (pellet stove) and do nothing for a few days.

The Mountain Vista Chalet is a nice little place on the side of a hill. It has spectacular views of the eastern sky, and a nice view of the western sky is just a short drive down Songbird Way (opposite the driveway of this hours). Inside you'll find all the things I've come to associate with VRBO rentals: little knickknacks throughout, banners and signs that say things like happiness and love on the walls, and a clean and comfortable base of operations for your rustic adventure into northwest Penn. Everything about the house says don't worry, be happy in a Pennsylvania kind of way. The area is full of tiny towns and hamlets, and those are filled with friendly, kind people. I'm talking about the genuine kind of friendly, too. Not the we have to be friendly because tourism is our life kind you get in a lot of places. These folks are just nice, and finding that out was the best part of our trip. Unfortunately for us, Mother Nature was in a bit of a mood, and it rained on us every day but one. She was also very stingy with the fall colors we were hoping to ogle. But, she did give us 6 rainbows (!?), a comet and some pretty sunrises. We took what we could get. Just a note for those considering the rental: Yamaha Lane (essentially the home's driveway) is rutted and steep. Any SUV or truck won't have a problem, but something like a Camero or Mustang? Naw, don't try that. There are also lots of deer that love to dart out in front of your car. Fun!

We had a truly wonderful stay at this beautiful home in Galeton. Upon check-in, we encountered a small issue with the code, but Thanh, the host, was incredibly prompt and helpful in resolving it. The house was immaculate and well-equipped, though we did miss having a cheese grater for our pasta night (but we managed!). We originally came for astrophotography, and although we only had one night with semi-clear skies for about two hours around 3 am, it was still stunning. I can only imagine how magical it would be under completely clear skies. Surrounded by breathtaking nature, we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the setting. Watching the sunrise from the balcony and hearing wolves howling around 9 pm were unforgettable experiences. The sounds of cows mooing from the farm down the hill and the views of the horses added a unique charm to our stay. We took amazing photos of the wildlife and explored the woods out back, which was a highlight of our trip. Observing the hummingbirds attracted to the balcony plants and grounding ourselves by laying on the grass in such a serene environment was truly special. Although we didn’t get the clear skies we hoped for, we can’t wait to return and hopefully experience it fully under a starry night!
