Mariposa, California
Welcome to our Plumbar Creek Retreat! This unique home, built in 2014, is a modern cabin with beautiful 360 degree views including Mariposa and Midpines. The home has an open living area / kitchen with a wood stove, and three extra large bedrooms, each with a bathroom as-well-as a 1/2 bath in the living area.
The outdoor living space includes a 300 SqFt. covered porch, a 400 SqFt. deck and a 500 SqFt. rear covered patio with seating. The Arch Rock entrance to Yosemite is less than 30 miles northeast, and historical downtown Mariposa is less than 10 minutes southwest.
We're located off Triangle Road (close to Hwy 140) and exactly one mile down Buckingham Mountain Road to Plumbar Creek Rd. Buckingham Mountain and Plumbar Creek Roads are well graveled and will bring you to our secluded mountain top retreat, accessible 365 days a year.
Thank you for visiting.
Dave’s place is lovely! It’s really well maintained, exactly as shown in the photos, in fact, the place is even better, I would argue. It’s a short 10 mins drive away from Mariposa market. Mariposa is a quaint little town with surprisingly fun night life. As for this place, it’s situation on a hill top, easy access - quiet and pristine. Definitely coming back!
Great place, in a special part of California!
Comfortable, secluded property. Well equipped. Close to town. Close to Yosemite and Sequoia. We had a great 3 days there. Instructions were clear. We knew exactly what was expected of us. Check-in and check-out easy. Owner was very helpful and available if we had any questions. Would definitely stay here again.
My wife and I had family and friends over and it was so comfortable to have a beautiful home to reconnect, play games, have wonderful meals, and relax.
Charming cabin located on a private property offering beautiful panoramic views and peaceful background setting. The home is very clean and fully equipped including a BBQ grill in the back where you can enjoy your dinner or sit out to watch the stars at night and each room were spacious. You can also enjoy the sunrise with your cup of coffee as you sit in the front porch. My family enjoyed our stay at the Plumbar Creek! The owner is super nice, very accommodating and is very communicative also. We would love to come back again. Thank you.
This house was as listed. Very secluded area with incredible views of the stars at night. Only takes about 45-50 minutes to get to the gate of Yosemite Valley. Would definitely stay here again.
We really enjoyed this gret property that is within 10 minutes of Mariposa and about 45 from Yosemite. The three bedrooms and 4 baths were comfortable and well appointed. The large front and back porches allowed relaxed enjoyment of the surrounding hills in almost 365 degrees. The owner was very helpful in providing advice on the area.
What we expected and close enough to Yosemite to drive. Quiet house and Dave was very responsive. Location is good, just know it’s on a dirt/gravel road. Overall great experience!
The 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath cabin was ideal for our family visit to the area. Everything was spotless and we thoroughly enjoyed the foosball and the table shuffleboard. Possibly the best VRBO we have ever stayed in.
We really loved this cabin. The property owner Dave was super helpful and communicative with all my questions. The cabin is SUPER clean and was extremely comfortable. We slept very well. We picked this place because of the close proximity to Mariposa and the entrances to the park. We had a rental Tesla and were able to get to Dave’s house without problems. We went in all the west entrances of Yosemite. Thoroughly enjoyed staying at this special place. Highly recommend! You won’t be disappointed!
Fabulous home base for our Yosemite visit for three couples. The home had all we needed - from the well equipped kitchen to the spacious bedroom / bathrooms for each couple. Loved sitting on the porch in evenings and enjoying the mountain top sunset or star-gazing. Once off the main road, there is a gravel / dirt road for about a mile. Our SUV navigated with no issues. Great communication with Dave, the owner. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
House was great, accurate description, and host/David was the best including communication and quick response. Will definitely stay again if in the area.
This house is perfect for anyone looking for a remote location to get away from it all! It is located off a gravel road on top of a hill without another house in sight, which made star gazing at night spectacular. The house is dog friendly, but do remember to bring your own food and water bowls for the pups! The location is not super dog friendly, our pup got car sick on the long gravel road to the house and the large grass fox tail spurs in the dry grass can be quite harmful to dogs. Our dogs did not like walking on the gravel road, so our normal walks turned into quick outside restroom breaks. Our group of 5 adults found all the beds and bedding to be super comfortable! Unfortunately, our stay was in the middle of a head wave and even though the house had AC, the bedroom still felt hot at night. A portable fan to help keep things cool at night would have been nice. On our first night the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, but the host was very responsive and came later that day to replace the smoke detector batteries. He even left us a bottle of local wine to make up for the issue; we never had the problem again. Unfortunately, the kitchen & bathrooms were stocked with minimal supplies. Ultimately we were able to make everything we had planned to, but we had to get creative. You will need to bring anything special (like a cookie sheet). Taller guests need to take caution not to hit their head on the range hood over the island in the kitchen and may not be comfortable using the upstairs guest bathroom sink due to the slanted-low clearance ceiling. Only 6 bath towels and 4 hand towels were provided for the bathrooms. Guests wanting to use 2 towels will need to get creative (like using the clean bathroom floor rug as a second towel). Beach towels are not provided, so remember to bring your own for swimming in the nearby Merced River Overall we loved our stay in the house, but would love to have more kitchen and bathroom supplies provided. The host was friendly, accommodating, and provided great information on the various hikes and recreational activities in the area.
Simply an awesome vacation home if you love to stay remote with no neighbors nearby. :) We always search for places like this and this was the perfect place for our family and our four-legged member as he loves to walk around and stay outdoors most of the time. The outdoor patio is a gem, sit there, relax and spend the complete day looking at the hills, trees, variety of birds, sunset, and sunrise. :) In the evening you can hang around on the first floor and enjoy the games. The home is fully air-conditioned no matter where you are it never feels hot. David was very helpful and helped us whenever we had any questions. The town is just 10-15 mins from the home and it has every thing that is required, so even if you miss something you can just go and grab it. :) We will surely visit the place again :)
Very nice and provides plenty of privacy and space for couples and families. Love all the cozy wood finishes. Location is perfect to town and scenic drive along Merced River to Yosemite. There is a nice park with a playground in midpines, just minutes away for those with littles. Some additional kitchen/bbq tools and cleaning supplies would have been helpful but overall great property for our groups needs. The outside deck spaces are massive. We had milder than average weather over the Fourth of July holiday - it could have been slightly uncomfortable if any hotter. Would love to visit again in the late spring or fall.
