LOCAL ADD-ON EXPERIENCES

From sound baths and in-home massages to stargazing under some of the darkest skies in Southern California, we've handpicked local vendors to match whatever mood you're in. Book a personal chef for a lazy night in, saddle up for a horseback ride, or take a guided hike through the National Park or other local trails. However you want to spend your time here, relaxing or adventuring, the desert (and our favorite locals) has you covered. Once your reservation is confirmed, let us know you are interested and we will connect you!

Guest Access:

The property and house is yours to roam and relax.

Getting Around:

We recommend traveling by car to explore Joshua Tree for maximum flexibility, as ride sharing services are unreliable. If you prefer not to drive, the local taxi service Lucky 777 is a dependable option. Our property offers free parking for up to four vehicles to ensure your car is kept secure during your stay.

Other Things to Note:

3:00PM Check-In: We'd love for you to check in before 8pm so you have plenty of daylight to settle in and get comfortable before dark.

Dirt Roads: The property is located down ~4 miles of dirt roads and we have very specific directions to get to the property. We highly recommend driving a high clearance and/or AWD vehicle and drive safely.

Wifi: Desert wifi can be super spotty and can go in and out. We have the best service for our rural area but people needing full time high speed might not find those needs met here. Not suitable to work from home from this location.

Bathroom: The Martian Rose has a toilet and a urinal in the bathroom

Noise: The Martian Rose is located close to the maritime base and can occasionally hear and feel the house shaking during their test “bombing”. It only happens occasionally and is only during the middle of the day.

Cameras/Decibel Monitor: There are 3 security cameras on the property. They are only for security of the property. The alerts are turned off when guest are staying at the house. The cameras are visible and in plan sight, and only outside the home. We also use noise decibel monitors indoors to help avoid disturbing neighbors. These only measure sound levels and never record audio.

Tower: Tower currently is not available for guest use. It’s filled with the homeowners personal items and not accessible for guests.

HVAC: Central heating and air conditioning are provided throughout the home to keep guests comfortable in every season.

Pets Allowed: We welcome dogs for a fee of $60 per dog, with a maximum of 2 dogs per stay. Please note that no other pets are permitted at this property.

Guest Policy: We only allow the number of guests listed as the maximum occupancy for this property, so any additional day guests must be requested and approved in advance. No extra overnight guests are permitted beyond those included in your reservation.

Watch your Step: This desert land holds onto bits of its past, so you may spot the occasional rusty object or piece of glass in the yard, please wear shoes anytime you're outside. You'll also be sharing the landscape with local snakes and scorpions. They want nothing to do with you, so if you see one, just back away calmly and quietly

Wood Burning Fires: We do not permit wood-burning fires anywhere on the property at any time, including in fire pits or fireplaces, due to the high risk of wildfire in our area. This policy is strictly enforced for the safety of our guests, neighbors, and the surrounding landscape,.

Desert Critters: Please keep doors closed while entering and exiting, curious critters will let themselves in given the chance. Desert wildlife is part of what makes this area special, expect sightings of jackrabbits, tortoises, roadrunners, quail, and lizards. You may also spot coyotes, rattlesnakes, scorpions, or occasionally a bobcat or mountain lion. Most just want their space, so it's best to give them yours.

Interaction with Guests:

We like to respect our guest’s privacy, so you won’t see too much of us. We will be available to answer any questions and to make your stay more enjoyable.

We were so happy with this rental and would definitely stay again for another visit. The whole place was neat and tidy and very well stocked. We enjoyed soaking in the hot tub after long hikes in nearby Joshua Tree too! We also loved the effort that went into the Martian theme of the whole place and appreciated every little space, astronaut, alien detail!

The house is an artistic UFO themed eclectic wonder. The marble milky way and planets floor mosaic is a true work of art. This is not a swanky kind of place. It is basic natural beauty, with many remnants of its jackrabbit past. The acreage is ripe with assemblage art mixed with raw desert. Very dog friendly, with fenced in property full of birds and lizards to keep any dog happy.

Not exactly what we expected. I think the pictures over sold the place slightly. Overall, though, we had a fun time.

Property was perfect; wonderful shaded and sheltered outdoor areas depending on the wind direction. Very clean, well-stocked, and a nice, quiet area.

The stay was very secluded. Definitely need to follow the directions that are put in the guide or you can definitely get lost. Loved how dog friendly the property was! Will definitely stay here again! 5 stars. Our pups loved it too.

We enjoyed the solitude and privacy provided by this property. We loved being able to walk around the property and see the gorgeous views from all sides. The Martian themed decor adds to the creativity of the place. The furniture for stargazing was perfect and they even provided Sherpa blankets for extra coziness around the house. Great find!
