Soaring Eagle Lodge is a private waterfront retreat where mornings begin with bald eagles soaring overhead, coffee on the deck overlooking Puget Sound, and panoramic views stretching across Skagit Bay to snow-capped Mount Baker and the Cascade Mountains. Tucked away on six acres of forested grounds high above the shoreline, the Lodge offers a rare combination of luxury, privacy, and immersion in nature. An adventurous trail winds down the bluff to your own secluded beach, where guests often spend hours beachcombing, watching otters and seals, and searching for driftwood and sea glass.

Whether you're gathering three generations of family, vacationing with close friends, or simply escaping city life for a week of peace and quiet, Soaring Eagle Lodge was designed to be a place where people reconnect—with nature and with each other.

Inside, every detail has been chosen for comfort. Deluxe Sleep Number® beds, cozy plush robes, heated travertine bathroom floors, a deep jetted soaking tub, three roaring fireplaces, and original Pacific Northwest artwork create a warm, refined atmosphere throughout the home. A spacious gourmet kitchen, stocked for serious cooks as well as casual family meals, makes gathering around food one of the highlights of every stay.

Outside, the premium Bullfrog Spa under a covered patio overlooking the Sound offers the perfect place to unwind beneath towering evergreens while listening to the sounds of the forest. Gather around the firepit in the evening to share stories, roast marshmallows, and make memories together as the sun descends and the soft colors of dusk shimmer across the water and distant mountains. Deer wander through the grounds, pleasure boats cross the bay below, and an extraordinary variety of birds—from tiny hummingbirds to majestic bald eagles—provide an ever-changing view. There is enough to see and enjoy that you may find yourself perfectly content never leaving the property.

The Lodge takes its name from the bald eagles that soar along the bluff and ride the thermal currents above the home. One pair nests right here on the property! During nesting season, guests often watch our resident pair incubate eggs and later deliver fish to their growing eaglets. In spring and summer 2026, the pair successfully raised two eaglets, and guests witnessed with wonder as they grew from tiny chicks to full-sized young eagles and eventually fledged from the nest. Many guests describe watching this remarkable eagle family as one of the highlights of their stay—a uniquely Pacific Northwest experience that few vacation homes can offer.

When you're ready to explore, spend a day whale watching in the San Juan Islands, wander the historic waterfronts of Coupeville or Port Townsend, browse the galleries and shops of Langley, or sample Whidbey Island's wineries, distilleries, breweries, and tasting rooms. Outdoor adventures abound as well, with sailing, fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking, golf, horseback riding, bird watching, and boat tours all within easy reach. Or simply spend the afternoon walking your own secluded beach before returning to the Lodge for a soak in the hot tub or an evening by the fire.

Soaring Eagle Lodge is also ideally situated for exploring the wider region. Anacortes, La Conner, Fairhaven, and Bellingham make wonderful day trips, while the San Juan Islands and Port Townsend offer some of the Pacific Northwest's most memorable scenery and experiences. Seattle and Vancouver, BC are each approximately 90 miles away, making the Lodge feel wonderfully secluded without being disconnected from everything the region has to offer.

For guests who need to stay connected, lightning-fast Wi-Fi throughout the home makes remote work easy. And because even a beautiful island getaway shouldn't be interrupted by a power outage, the Lodge is equipped with a 48,000-watt Kohler whole-house generator. It starts automatically and powers the entire home, providing comfort, safety, and peace of mind regardless of the weather outside.

Above all, our goal as hosts is to provide an exceptional vacation experience from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. More than 230 five-star Vrbo reviews reflect the experiences of families and friends who have made Soaring Eagle Lodge part of their Whidbey Island memories. We invite you to read what our past guests have shared, and we sincerely hope to earn your five-star review as well.

Because Soaring Eagle Lodge is our personal vacation home, we ask all prospective guests to introduce themselves when submitting an inquiry or booking request.

PLEASE TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR GROUP, WHERE YOU'RE TRAVELING FROM, THE NUMBER OF GUESTS IN YOUR PARTY, AND WHAT BRINGS YOU TO WHIDBEY ISLAND.

We enjoy welcoming guests who appreciate the home, its surroundings, and the experience it offers as much as we do.

This amazing home has everything! We had a wonderful, peaceful weekend that was everything we wanted. We loved watching the bald eagles in their nest and the tide go in and out from the patio out back. We'll definitely be back!

We stayed at Soaring Eagle Lodge on Whidbey Island with our family of six, four adults and two kids, and it was absolutely perfect. The views are stunning and instantly set the tone for a relaxing getaway. The house itself is incredibly comfortable and thoughtfully set up, especially the big, well stocked kitchen, which we used constantly. We loved cooking meals together, lingering at the table, and playing games as a family. The bedrooms were cozy and comfortable, and the hot tub was such a great evening activity after long days of exploring or just being outside. One of our favorite things was the easy access to the beach, which made it feel like we had our own little slice of the island.Even though it is close enough to drive into nearby towns, we found ourselves wanting to stay in most of the time because the house was just that enjoyable. It felt private, peaceful, and incredibly welcoming. Soaring Eagle Lodge was the ideal balance of comfort, views, and location, and it created the kind of trip where everyone truly relaxes and connects. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to families or groups looking for a special place on Whidbey Island.

Ned was an extremely helpful host. This property is gorgeous and maintained at the highest level. The home offers one of the very best well stocked kitchens compared to the many others we have stayed in. It was a pleasure to be able to enjoy our time here during the holidays (Christmas decor included) cooking, enjoying family time playing games, reading and exploring the PNW. We look forward to the opportunity to do so again.

Exceptional in every way! The attention to detail geared to guest comfort is of the highest level. The kitchen has every spice you could want and a fine selection of cook ware. Want S’mores? Yep, they have special skewers for that. Chilly outside? Plenty of soft blankets to snuggle in. There is a variety of flatware, glasses for all kinds of drinks, baking pans, casserole dishes , etc. The owners want you to really love your stay. You feel like your comfort is their goal. Beds were so comfortable, high quality towels, nothing was skimped. The grounds were pristine. Can’t say enough good things. This peaceful oasis is not to be missed!

What a fabulous vacation for our group of 8 including one 9 year old and a toddler. Everything about our stay was easy, relaxing, and beautiful. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen was stocked with essentials. We enjoyed drinking our coffee overlooking the serene water as bald eagles flew from their nests on the property. We will definitely be back and would recommend this to anyone.

This property was absolutely gorgeous!! We had a daily show of bald eagles and even had an orca whale sighting! We had a group of 8 (two toddlers), it fit us comfortably and kept us entertained for the weekend. Along with the incredible view, the backyard was beautifully landscaped (the little fairy scenes are such a fun touch), the fire pit was great and the hot tub was a lovely way to end the day. The kitchen was basically gourmet & had everything you'd need and then some. Lastly, the host as so great - quick & friendly communication. Just a warning that the only way to the private beach is a bit of a workout & not for everyone. Definitely didn't let our toddlers go down it.
