LUXURY : VISTA HOUSE above the Clouds! Stunning view near Avila Beach & Downtown

We had a great stay at Vista House. Ryan couldn't have been friendlier. He was there to greet us and orient us to our surroundings. The view was spectacular and it was very quiet to sleep.

We really enjoyed our stay at VISTA HOUSE above the Clouds! The location was serene and amazing on top of the mountain. The beautiful property has a spectacular view literally for miles. The house was very comfortable. My son missed Bourbon and Cider who played with us every day during our visit. We sincerely appreciate all Ryan has done for us. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Ryan has created a spectacularly comfortable oasis, with a beautiful view. The kitchen has everything a gourmet cook will need. Our other hosts were his wonderful Goldens, Bourbon & Cider, Walter the tortoise, a bevy of chickens and some lovely Koi. Ryan is very kind, thoughtful and quickly responds to any inquiries. Fabulous place to stay!

Great location, property and hosts - Ryan, Bourbon, and Cider!!

Magical place. Vista House is well-named with panoramic views of the Nine Sisters and ocean from the deck. It’s in a group of 3 properties with the host, Ryan, in one of them, but private and quiet. Ryan is the perfect host, there when you need something but out of sight when you don’t!; and a charming and interesting guy. Kitchen is well-equipped and there’s a top quality grill on the deck so one can enjoy local fish, meat and produce. Comfortable beds. Bathroom a little tired. The road to San Luis is steep but you are only 15 minutes from downtown and a world away in quiet and relaxation.

The host was very helpful and informative. The home was clean and well equipped. The views exceeded our expectations. So did the spaciousness of the rental. It takes a little extra time to get up the hill but it is worth it.

The host was very welcoming, we had a great stay! Views were amazing, the spacious private deck was a great relaxing space. The house was spacious and had many amenities. However, the interior seating could be much more comfortable and conducive to watching movies, etc..

Property was as described, views were breathtaking, and tesidence was private. All spaces were clean, balcony was super and kitchen provided everything. Great location central to everywhere. Host was accessible and super. Hope we can schedule again.

Perfect place if you want to relax and get away from everything. Great host. In between the city and the beach. Both ways gave us wonderful experiences with nature and country. If you love to sleep the beds were fantastic but lacked comfort in the living room if you were sitting watching any TV.

My husband, our dogs, and I, loved our stay at Vista House. The view is incredible, the unit immaculate and the perfect place to relax after an active day. Ryan was a great source of everything dog friendly! We've tried other rentals with our dogs - Vista House felt more private for us and more comfortable for the dogs than rentals amongst the masses. There is plenty of room for them to play and wander like dogs. So we're thrilled not to have to worry about where to stay on our future trips to the coast. We're hooked!

Aerie mountain top retreat just what we needed to re energize. Very calm and quiet. Comfortable an well appointed.

Everything was amazing and clean the moment we checked in! Ryan, bourbon, and cider were all there to greet us the moment we arrived. The views were breathtaking after the drive up the mountain. All the amenities were well stocked for our use, especially the doggy treats as my girlfriend loved to give the dogs treats. Overall, we cannot wait to come back here again the future!

All I can say is wow! The view is beautiful! But the sunsets and sunrises were spectacular! The beds were super comfortable. Kitchen well stocked and the shower was huge! We can’t wait to come again!

When we arrived at Vista House after a long day we were warmly welcome by the kind and worldly Host and his adorable Golden Retrievers Cider and Bourbon. Although we were exhausted, as soon as we parked, the exhilaration of the mountain and woodsy breeze and the romantic and dramatic views filled our lungs and entire spirit - with an uplifting, an inspiring sense of utter joy and wonder. A similar effect was felt by my Service Labrador, Hendrix, who was instilled with the same captivating sense of joy as he explored all the new woodsy scents and waved his tail, amused and delighted, as he was greeted by his two new fury friends.Later on we enjoyed a superb candle light dinner as we had stopped to acquire special groceries - I recommend bringing inspiring ingredients to the superbly designed chef's kitchen: we cooked and sat by the veranda relishing on the views, the utter beauty of the natural setting, the magnificent silence and the exquisite architecture. There were no draw backs for the entire experience was exquisite - or maybe there was one: we eventually had to continue our journey and Vista House is one of those rare places on Earth, one feels like hanging one's hat, to never, ever, depart... but then, we will look forward, and so will Hendrix, with hope and joy in our hearts, to our return.

The view and hospitality was amazing! We really enjoyed it! Ryan (and of course Cider and Bourbon) was a great host and gave us great tips on what to do while we were there! If we comeback to the area we would definitely stay here again!

Had an amazing time at Vista House. The plan was to have a nice relaxing get away with my friend and dog, have some laughs and drink good wine. Ryan was a wonderful host. Responded to all of our questions and request in a timely manner. My dog enjoyed her daily visits from Cider and Bourbon loved exploring and sniffing out canyon. I look forward to returning again and will recommend to all of my friends.

Wasn’t clear in description that this is a unit amongst others on the property and the owners live on property, as well Noisiest night we’ve ever had at any rental. People talking/walking above us until well after midnight. Also the refrigerator/freezer leaked both in the evening and again in the morning that e cleaned upView was beautiful. Owner was nice. Well kept unit (except leak)Be aware:Dining is only outside with frequent visits from the dogs that sat next to table. I thought it was strange that the owner let us know it was “ok to feed his dogs”, so I guess the dogs expected us to share our steak dinners. Strangest situation I think I’ve ever experienced at a rentalI’m sure it would be a fun place for some, but for us it was a let down. There were not a lot of choices bc of Cal Poly grad weekend, so we chose to ignore the situation and enjoy celebratingIn the future, we will definitely read reviews more carefully and look for details that have not been stated clearly or mentioned at all in the property descriptionsNo explanation could make up for the lack of peace & quiet we experienced at this mountain top retreat

My hubby, dog and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the beautifully furnished Vista House. Ryan, Whisky and Cider, the hosts, were very welcoming and informative. There is a deck with amazing views connected to the living space and kitchen. Beautifully and stylishly decorated. Kitchen has everything you need for meals. Bed was beyond comfortable. I would absolutely stay again. It is a little piece of heaven above the clouds. Thanks Ryan!!

Ryan is always nice and welcoming to all his guests, especially dogs lol. His goodies give an added charm as they greet you at the entrance with their waggy tails. This was our second year and it didn't disappoint with its views, hominess, and nature soundss. We have already booked for 2026. Our pups Love it so much and it allows us to get away from the fireworks during the 4th of July.

Ryan's home is unbelievable! Seeing the valley from the vista house was unforgettable. A greeting from Bourbon and Cider also brought us much joy. We can't wait to come back!

We had a fantastic stay. The view is truly magnificent and the outside space is set up to take advantage of the view - with very comfortable couch and seating. Everything is very well labeled within the place and great communications made things easy

My fiance and I were celebrating an anniversary and chose this apartment rental as our home. It was very welcoming, peaceful and had everything we needed. Ryan was very communicative and helpful. We loved our stay and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful getaway.

Location is cresting a hill & access takes ample time if you intend on exploring surrounding area. Multi-family home converted into multiple rental units. This unit is on the back side of a home overlooking canyons, you are not renting an actual house so privacy is limited. Clarity in listing would be suggested. Nice view. Needs some TLC - bit of disrepair throughout property and unit. Unit needs deep cleaned.Fresh eggs were lovely.

We stayed for a few days on our way from LA to SF, and so glad we did. It’s an amazing place perched on a ridge with such a apecial view. The friendly visits with Bourban and Cider made it perfect!

Nice and cozy

Host was very communicative from the beginning. He greeted us upon arrival and gave us a quick tour of the place. We were also welcomed by his two sweet golden retrievers. Both the home and the views were absolutely stunning. We felt like we were on a castle in the clouds. My son had an amazing time as well, one he will always remember between spending time with Walter the tortoise to meeting the chickens in the chicken coup. Wish we could have stayed longer. My husband and I enjoyed the views from Vista House. We had fun chatting with Ryan, the host. While we rated this stay a 5, there are some things that would have made our stay better. Primarily, we found the couch and kitchen seating to be tired and uncomfortable. Also, the stove and range are so-so. If you like dogs, Cider and Bourbon are quite friendly. The views are outstanding.

Was in town to spend time with friends, and the Vista House was the perfect rental spot for my friend and I. Our host, Ryan, was absolutely fantastic! Very hospitable, friendly and attentive. Plus, we got a morning greeting from Ryan’s dogs, which was a welcomed surprise! We’re definitely booking this spot again the next time we’re in town!

The views can’t be overstated. Especially around sunset as the shadows on the surrounding peak’s make every ridge dramatic. On our third day the fog rolled into the valley and the peaks are all that jut out for a magical view. My wife and I had a great extended weekend.

SLO and the surrounding communities are my happy places. I love the scenery, the weather, the ocean, the people, the food. This trip was for my son’s wedding at the Madonna Inn (which was fabulous, of course).This house is located on the top of the hills overlooking Morro Bay and Montana De Oro. On a clear day you can see Cayucos in the distance. The rolling green hills are beautiful. If you are bike rider with the stamina to take on the 1200 foot elevation it would be a trip to remember as Prefumo Canyon Road goes from SLO to Avilla Beach. The house itself is very comfortable and welcoming. The large elevated deck overlooks a lush private backyard overlooking the canyon. You can see the city lights of Morro Bay and Cayucos at night but otherwise the night sky is perfect for viewing the stars while listening to the frogs chorus in the background. The kitchen is fully stocked for anyone who loves to cook and there is a gas grill on the deck and a large patio table and plush chaise lounge beds.We brought our dogs with us on the trip and they enjoyed free run of the yard along with owner Ryan’s dogs Cider and Bourbon. The winding road up to the house was initially a bit daunting but after traversing it twice in one day it was far less intimidating. Ryan the host was very welcoming and responsive to any questions regarding the property and the general location. We will definitely return to this beautiful vacation property.

We had a wonderful time at Vista House in the Irish Hills. The area is pristine and stunningly beautiful. Views from the spacious balcony unparalleled. Clean and comfy apartment with all the amenities. Host Ryan is so welcoming and nice. Can’t wait to go back!

The view is absolutely stunning and the large windows allow you to enjoy it from inside as well as out. Bourbon and Cider are great ambassadors and are as sweet as they come. They do love all the attention you can give them. Walter is a must visit as well. The beds are so comfortable and we slept wonderfully. The shower is magnificent as well. It is worth the drive up the mountain to enjoy this lovely property.

My family and pup stayed in Vista House Christmas week. Our host, Ryan, and his friendly pups, Bourbon and Cider, welcomed us when we arrived. Ryan oriented us to the property and nearby activities. Vista is a beautiful home. Comfortable with a well equipped kitchen, expansive deck with a short ramp to parking and grounds for our pup to walk. Views are incredible. Definitely a bucket list destination!

I did not realize the property was at the end of a very windy and long road. I had been in a hurry to make a plan and somehow overlooked that detail. Thank goodness Ryan got a hold of me right before I got toward the hill and suggested I get supplies before I got there, which I did, so that I did not need to leave the house once I got there. The house was nice and comfortable but

Ryan was great, very communicative and attentive to our needs. Believe the hype, this spot rules.

Road to get up the hill is in less than ideal shape, but the view when you get there is worth it. The dogs are very friendly and will beg for (provided) treats. Kitchen is very nice, bathroom huge and modern, bedrooms very comfortable.

My husband and I stayed here for a nice honeymoon. The place is so nice and the view was beautiful! Ryan (Bourbon and Cider) were great hosts. They greeted us to make sure we knew where to go and gave us great tips on places to try around. The place was super clean and was stocked with everything we needed. If we had any issues Ryan was there to help us out quickly! We loved staying here!

We had a wonderful stay at this Vrbo! It was nice to get out of the city for a few days and enjoy the stunning views. Watching the stars at night and seeing the fog roll out in the morning were truly magical. The host, Ryan, was lovely and made us feel right at home. Cider and Bourbon were the sweetest dogs, and they definitely knew exactly where the treats were! Plus, Cider is a sucker for belly rubs. Highly recommend this place!

This place is amazing there are no other words to describe it, beautiful house, scenery and a short drive to many beaches. Host and pups were absolute amazing and kind. The only bad thing about it was I DIDN’T WANT TO LEAVE. We are already planning our next trip.

We loved the deck views from Vista House, the comfort of the beds, huge rain and hand held shower, the nice kitchen, and the location being close to several activities. Our dogs had plenty of places to walk and check out the chicken coop, the really cool tortoise Walter (that we fed and petted) with bags, scoop, trash easily accessible. Ryan, the host, is upstairs in his unit with his awesome dogs Bourbon and Cider. We enjoyed our time with them all and got great tips like the dog friendly electric boat tour in Morro Bay; the dog beach area near Avila Beach, going to Pismo Beach, and the Harford Pier. Also Farmers Market in SLO which doesn't allow dogs in the market place but we were able to take turns checking out. It was also convenient to have a dog gate for our deck. We have an older dog that likes to roam around. Parking was convenient.Weather was so nice: sunny some days, clouds and foggy mists others, gorgeous clouds rolling in the canyon, and a little chill that was perfect for bundling up and sleeping. Cozy blankets and chaises on the deck plus nice area to eat and another to enjoy the view with a book. We very much enjoyed our 6 nights visit.

We took the kids to get out of the city, do a little wine tasting, and breathe fresh mountain air. The host was gracious and hospitable - our son played with his golden retrievers to his heart’s content. The property was amazing, and not too far from everything, just enough to make you really feel like you got away. We hope to return.
