Stayed Sep 1, 2020The tap water here is brown. We were not told about this until after we took possession. This precluded bathing and led us to buy bottled water for a month. When a plumbing back up occurred in the kitchen sink, we could not wash dishes or use the dishwasher for three days. The owner was informed of the problem, but would not contact a plumber directly. This was clearly to avoid having to pay the bill. The plumber to whom the owner referred us would not come, so he referred us to another company. They fixed the problem and assured us that we did not cause it. The clog accumulated over time, from previous tenants dumping grease down the drain. When we presented the owner with the $500 plumbing bill, she became angry and has not reimbursed us. We did not agree to pay the cost of fixing the pipes on this house when we rented it. Nor should finding a plumber have been our responsibility. We want this $ reimbursed to us by the owner.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The house is in a nice neighborhood and has wonderful views. It was clean and well kept. The master suite was wonderful. The house has no blinds on the top floor and as a result it became quite hot. Despite the AC being on constantly, the interior temperature was over 25 degrees for much of the day. One bedroom in the basement appears to be a converted study. The blinds blocking the hallway did not provide complete privacy and the bed in that room is in need of replacement. The person sleeping there elected to sleep on the couch instead as it was more comfortable. When we booked the property we had an assurance in writing from the owner that there would be a least one day of vacancy in-between guests to help mitigate any risk from covid. The day before we were scheduled to leave we found out this was not the case, guests were leaving the same day we were arriving. The owner was not forthright at first with this information and when we asked why she had not kept her commitment, we were told to speak to VRBO. Through VRBO we were able to shift the reservation one day. However, half the guests staying with us were not able to accommodate this change and they lost out on a day of vacation. We also had to deal with the hassle of postponing our trip last minute. We are disappointed that the commitment to keep one day in -between guests as recommended by the provincial health officer was not honoured. We had picked this location largely on the written commitment of the owner to do this. We had seniors with us who are at high risk and we feel that liberties were taken with their health and wellbeing.

Stayed Jul 17, 2020We had an great vacation at the Rustic Retreat. A 10 day stay with two families mostly teens but one under 8. The home was clean, organized and the space was suitable for 2 families. Spend time on the water with our boat and used the rail trail to bike, walk and run. Close to many amenities. Thank-you Robin for an amazing Vacation. Hope to stay again soon.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Really beautiful place in an excellent location. Kitchen is well appointed. Overall the house has a good layout. Excellent views. Master bedroom is very nice but doesn't have any blinds, so it gets bright in morning. Master shower is nice, but without blinds it's open to the back window (by design for the view), so it is possible to see in from the outside; not a big deal but there's no way to get from the back deck, to the lower outdoor level, without walking past the master windows. 3 bedrooms downstairs don't have a/c vents so can get very warm; one of the three rooms doesn't have any windows. We ended up buying fans for 2 of them. Mattresses are quite soft and springs are noisy. Large cliff makes it a bit unnerving with children running around. Access to the water is down a very steep path. Driveway to the house is quite steep with two 180 degree switchbacks, so it's not recommended to tow a boat/trailer.

Stayed Jun 12, 2019The home is a huge sprawl along the lakeshore. Waking up with the call of loons on the lake and a hot coffee on the deck....can't do better than that. There were some minor maintenance issues but our host was prompt and professional dealing with them. Communication was so easy and we were made to feel like our host really just wanted us to be happy. She's proud of her home and with good reason. You won't regret staying here.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We spent our entire spring into summer (5 weeks) at this property, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there! The house was in great condition and well equipped to accommodate our stay and the employees. The guys all really appreciated the barbecue and sitting area on the patio for winding down after work. The location was close to Kelowna, yet far enough out to be able to revel in the peace and quiet. We enjoyed the private walking path down to the lakefront and the use of the Okanagan Rail Trail! There are many activities to do in this area, and a surprising number of fabulous restaurants. There is a local convenience store and well know Orchard shop that sells great pies! The wineries were fun to visit, with many of them only minutes from the property! We felt great knowing we could return to our homes on the weekends and our work accommodations would be available for us when we returned. The owner was willing to work with our schedules and in turn we continued to rent long term between other vacation rentals. The owner was very professional and reliable. I would highly recommend this property!
