We had a wonderful Thanksgiving get together. The house was clean, kitchen was well stocked and Joseph was accommodating. The location was handy but it was a little noisy being so close to a busy road. Despite that, It was well worth the money we spent.
Super close to sand hollow park
This is a great place to stay. It sleeps plenty and is in a quite neighborhood. Parking for a large group is challenging but manageable. The hot tub in the middle was perfect. We enjoyed our stay.
the house was great but the parking was hard to handle with a house this size and a group our size.
Overall I would definitely recommend this house to stay if you have a large family. It doesn’t look that big but there was enough room for us all. The only complaint I would have is the hot tub was a little dirty.
We had a great time with 28 people aged 1-55. We used the hot tub, sun porch, patio, easy desert access, and huge TVs in every room. The kids enjoyed the included XBox for quickly jumping into games, and we all enjoyed several movies. The swimming pools were a hit, and the clubhouse staff were very helpful.
We will admit that we initially had reservations that Cactus Rose could actually hold 29 family members (based on space and overall square footage). Having said that, we were pleasantly surprised that we were able to hold 29 family members at Cactus Rose for a week!! The home was spacious enough where we did not feel trapped or constricted in anyway. The rooms were setup very nicely for our families. Beds were very comfortable. No complaints whatsoever about the living arrangements. The atrium was a nice getaway for adults from the little ones. If it were a tad bit warmer, we would have been on the rooftop sitting area more. The hot tub was a hit with everyone...in the 20 degree nights. The home was very clean. The resort staff were extremely courteous whenever we had questions. They were very helpful in restocking the home with bath towels and toilet paper for the bathrooms. We were really grateful that they accommodated our cars to allow two of the vehicles to park on the street for the week (w/a temporary parking permit). Now, the critique. Previous posts mentioned that the vacuum cleaner did not work. This was the case with us. Just purchase a cheap vacuum cleaner from Walmart and be done with that issue. One other minor critique....please, brighten up your interior rooms with better lighting!! It's not a funeral home...it's a BEAUTIFUL southwestern style home overlooking some of the best piece of land in the nation....invest in some brighter LED type lighting. Even with those very minor critiques, we still give Cactus Rose 5 stars. Overall, we were very happy with our stay at Cactus Rose. We would definitely stay there again. The owner was in communication with us on a consistent basis and the resort staff, top notch! Thank you for allowing us to stay at your home. It was truly a week that we will never forget.
Upon arrival we found there was no dishwasher detergent, dish cloths or dish towels in the house. Also the portacrib we had requested was not there. Called the office and received an announcement that they were not available. Went back to the clubhouse to request those items, which were sent. Later that night couldnt find sheets for the extra beds. One of the fire alarms went off intermittently and another one started chirping. On day 3 of our stay found the washer full of wet, stinky towels and sheets. We had paid in advance but were also charged again for our stay. Which has since been removed from our credit card. When I checked out and was asked about our stay I reported our experience and was told that they should have told me when I checked in that I would need to request those housekeeping supplies. That seems unrealistic to require people to request items to clean up after meals when it's known that 10 adults and 16 children will be there for 3 days.
Although it was beautiful and we had an enjoyable time, the property was not clean. There was sand and dirt everywhere, especially in the living room. There were hairballs in the corners of closets, etc. In addition, the vacuum was broken, the jetted tub did not work, there was no propane for the grill, which was filthy anyway, and only part of one roll of paper towels available. There was nothing provided to wipe down counters and tables or do dishes with, we ended up purchasing these ourselves. There were a lot of other little extras that were appreciated, for example, the games, the Xbox, lots of pots and pans in the kitchen and other items, like great appliances. The can opener is completely useless. We ran out of bath towels the second day and borrowed bedding from the bunk bed room for the footons, there weren’t nearly enough sheets available. My last point is that this property should not be available for more than eight adults but with lots of extra kid space. That’s all the double beds there are And I would never consider the floor mattresses as real beds. The deluxe air mattress was a twin, once again not terribly useful. There was also no crib/pac n play in the king as was in the list of room amenities. The resort check-in people told us we were really close to the clubhouse and pools, we were about as far away as we could be. They also scared us sufficiently about parking curbside that we were afraid to be seen outside. The big garbage cans on the side of the garage were already mostly full when we arrived. We used the ping pong table and loved that but ended up moving it into the atrium so that we could put an additional double air mattress for one of our couples in the garage. We had to purchase the air mattress after arrival because we ran out of “actual” beds. I would recommend your property to other folks, especially smaller groups that were planning on using it as a base for other surrounding activities. It was not great as a stay-cation weekend getaway. I have stayed on many properties with lower cleaning fees that were actually clean.
The home is just lovely, with stunning views of the surrounding area. We had a wonderful family reunion / Peach Days celebration and totally enjoyed ourselves in this beautiful home.
