Stayed Jun 14, 2025This stay was perfect in every way. The chalet exceeded every expectation. The hosts were attentive and even helped us with dinner reservations and a golf tee time. The location was remote and a bit confusing to get too but the views were breathtaking. If you have a chance to book this place, DO!

Stayed May 16, 2022Beautifully appointed chalet overlooking Salzburg and magnificent surrounding mountains. We spent a week with three generations of our family exploring the area. Lots of adventures for the young people. Grandparents loved to get lost finding a lunch spot and then having the GPS return us home again. Scenic outdoor covered area on which to eat and play cards at night. Property owners are delightful and helpful with suggestions for restaurants and adventures. Highly recommend this property for a wonderful family vacation!

Stayed Sep 4, 2021This was my first ever Vrbo or similar experience, and it wildly exceeded expectations. The owners were exceptionally gracious and bent over backwards to help us. The house and grounds are out of a fairy tale - spacious, well-appointed, and attractive with beautiful flowers and fruit trees. The view of Salzburg and surrounding mountains has to be in the top one percent in the world. Superb location for cyclists and hikers if you love climbing, and only 15 minutes from Altstadt Salzburg. Would love to come back.

Stayed Jun 22, 2019Our family of 13 recently spent a glorious week at the Leibenfrost country house, and it more than met our high expectations. The location is out of this world and yet easily accessible to the lakes, historical sights and downtown. The house is thoughtfully furnished in traditional Austrian style and is very comfortable. The large living room easily accommodated our group, and the bedroomsand baths are lovely. On the lower level you'll find a pool table, piano, toys and tv, which occupied the younger kids. We had an excellent local chef prepare our dinners so that we could enjoy spending time on the terrace before and after dinner. Various members of our group visited the salt mines, ice caves, Konigsee, Fuschl, Mondsee, Maria's Bike Tours and the Edelweiss Cooking School. All agreed it was our best trip yet? Thank you Leibenfrosts!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We were looking for a nice-sized place to take the extended family for a ten day summer trip. The location of the house is perfect. 12 minutes from the center of Salzburg up the Gaisberg (the lush green hill to the east of Salzburg). The view is a picture-perfect postcard look down at Salzburg and the Untersberg mountain beyond, and endless snow-capped alpine peaks into the distance to your left. The house has several good bedrooms, and a couch in the billiard room that our nephew slept on. And wifi, good bathrooms, everything you need. There is a crystal clear pool and great pool patio area where you can relax, have a glass of wine, and watch the sun set over Salzburg. We spent almost every evening here. The house is fully up-to-date and yet it feels like an old fashioned alpine lodge. While we were there the housekeeper Sylvana and her daughter kept everything absolutely perfect, and they are among the nicest people you will ever meet. We tend to like a European vacation with two things: - A close-by city with lots of history, walking tours, shopping, dining -- which Salzburg has in abundance. - And... an amazing house to go home to in the afternoon, when we're sick of all these things. Just off the property are lots of trails through the forest of the Gaisberg that you can spend hours strolling through. For a family vacation in Salzburg, you could not do better. Absolutely loved it and will go back again. Added bonus: Gaisberg is the hill that all the Paragliders sail down from, so you can watch them float by all day long. (Or join them, like we did. Not to be missed.)
