Lost Colony home with sweeping Gulf views, pool & boardwalk to the beach

The Pros: Beautiful Gulf views! Good size for large families. The Cons: Literally everything else. Everything about this property, from build quality, finishings, and decor, was cheap. The kitchen had absolutely no pantry space, so food has to sit out on the counter. All of the appliances were functional, but old and rusty and/or poor quality. The dining room table is sticky/tacky, even after cleaning it. The floors were absolutely FILTHY (bring old and/or black socks to wear inside). The couch had a seat where the support has completely failed. All the bathrooms, besides the master bathroom, were tiny. The bathtub in the master bathroom is not supported properly and bounces in spots. There is a dangerous slope to the floor near the entryway staircase. No curtains in the master bedroom and cheap, uncomfortable mattresses. The A/C is incredibly loud when running, and it either runs at full blast or is off. Looks like they just added a top floor deck, and there were deck screws literally all over the driveway, just waiting to pop your tires. The wifi never worked, so we were unable to use streaming services, and even when using the available cable television, the audio and video were not synced. Vacasa customer service was terrible and said they would send out a local property manager to resolve check-in issues, which they never did. By horrible coincidence and poor communication and execution by Vacasa, we ended up having to stay at this property, which was not the one we rented, and had to switch with another family. Vacasa NEVER UPDATED THE DOOR LOCK CODES or even sent us the updated info for this property, like they said they would. We had to get it directly from the other family. Huge safety issue.

Our family loved our 3 week stay at Lost Colony. The views from the house and our deck were spectacular. We walked the beautiful beach every day. Quick drive into Port Aransas for great restaurants, dolphin and ship watching. Bird watching at the nature preserves was so much fun. We would stay here again when in Port Aransas.

The house is in a great location with a beach view, steps from the pool and the boardwalk. It’s in a gated area so we felt safe to leave our kayaks on the truck and the kids to walk around, go to the pool and the beach. The house was clean, the kitchen was well stocked. The issue bringing down the rating is the furniture. I was unable to sleep in the master bedroom due to softness of the bed. It was worse than a waterbed. The mattresses in the bunks are ok for children but not full size adults. The legs on the couch were broken and fell every time you sat on it and one end had to be propped up on 2x6s because the floor was uneven or the sofa was broken. If the mattresses and sofa were replaced I would consider renting again, but not until then.

The view from the porch is the best thing about this house. Everything else, we did not have a great experience with.

We had a great visit to Port A! What this house lacked in amenities it made up for with it's location, comfort, and management team.

The location was great. Amazing views of the ocean. Close walking distance to the beach.

We stayed at Lost Colony during my grandsons’ fall break from school and had a wonderful time. It was great to be just a short walk to the beach—I grew up in Corpus Christi and really miss having the beach nearby. The condo was well-appointed, very clean and extremely comfortable. When we had a problem with the front door lock, Vacasa was on it and had it fixed within 30 minutes. We all enjoyed our time there and plan to try to rent this unit for our trip next year.

Very nice place for a long weekend get a way with friends. Would have given 5 stars but we had a minor issue with no water pressure in a couple of the bathroom sinks. Reported it to Vacasa and after a series of questions they wanted me to go to a neighbor and ask if they were having issues. Issue is most likely sand in the faucet filters and they need to be cleaned. Some of the remotes were not working which made it hard to watch tv. Crazy ants showed up in the kitchen the last day. Location is nice also. This is the third time we have stayed in the Lost Colony neighborhood.

When we first walked into the house, there was an initial assault of the smell of moth balls being overused. We did not see evidence of mothballs but there were several locked closets. I'm assuming the pungent smell was coming from there. Second, our rental was billed as being right next to the pool which it was. However, that pool was so filthy, I wouldn't have put my dog in there. I have a video to prove how awful it was. My family had to go down to the smaller pool which has a 15-person capacity and the pool was full. The pool never got cleaned while we were there. Lastly, the sofa was broken. You could not sit on it without sinking several inches down in the middle. It was like getting swallowed by the sofa. The house was not equipped with a dustpan to go with the broom and the house had an electric skillet but no chord. We asked for some sort of a refund as the pool was a very important part of our selection process and we got the run around. I will not rent here again.

House has a great view of the water! And super easy access to the beach, which was key with our two young boys. My family and I truly enjoyed our stay!
