The house and location were perfect for my husband, myself, family, and many friends who visited throughout the month. It's on a beautiful quiet street with views that are spectacular! The house is older which adds to it's charm. We felt at home the moment we walked in. There are 3 sitting room areas and a large sun room. The patio and pool are beautiful- a great space to relax. All the bedrooms are comfortable. The a/c works well, large smart TV in the living room , TV in the master, kitchen supplies , and large new washer/dryer. We loved the smoker and grill right outside on the front porch. Even though the house is big, we felt that it was cozy for all of us! Our hosts were responsive if we had any questions, and were wonderful to deal with from beginning to end.
Three generations spent a glorious month in this roomy wonderful house. Both inside and out, everything was beautifully maintained with kitchen equipment and bed/bath linens ample to accommodate our family. The views of the surrounding property and hills in the distance are spectacular and the owners couldn't be nicer or more accommodating.
What a beautiful, relaxing home to stay in! We love the charming town of Hillsdale and this house on a spectacular setting off a lovely country road, is also so convenient--only a 5-minute drive to the town supermarket (or course there is also a farmers’ market on Saturdays), 20 minutes to Great Barrington and 35 minutes to Tanglewood. The house is both spacious and charming, immaculate but also designed for real comfort. Large bedrooms include high quality mattresses and bedding. The living room furniture is perfect for watching TV or taking a nap. We loved the large well-equipped kitchen complete with tons of dishes, pots and pans, utensils etc. Often, we cooked on the outdoor Weber gas grill which is part of a wonderful gazebo complete with picnic tables and lights. It’s a terrific place to host friends for dinner on summer nights. With a fantastic, large, saltwater pool, the backyard feels like a private resort. The house and property are beautifully maintained by gardeners, pool service and house cleaners, making it super easy to enjoy your vacation. The property couldn’t be lovelier complete with birds, chipmunks, and the sounds of nearby horses and bullfrogs. Just one note: There are steep steps to the upstairs that might present an issue for very young children, the elderly or disabled (although there is a banister). The owners who live next door were very welcoming and extremely responsive to the small issues that cropped up. We can’t wait to come back!
This is a wonderful place to enjoy the bounty Columbia County and the Berkshires have to offer. The setting is spectacular, with a wide vista of rolling hills, farmland, flowering gardens, grazing horses and magnificent sunrises and sunsets. The house, part of which dates back to the 19th century, is very large and rambling, with plenty of rooms for large gatherings and family reunions, and lots of nooks and crannies to explore. There are many amenities, including a lovely outdoor pool, new comfortable mattresses, plentiful linens and towels and a delightful picnic area and gazebo with a new grill and two full propane tanks. The owners, who live nearby, are very pleasant, and were unobtrusive but immediately responsive whenever we contacted them. The location is unbeatable—the town of Hillsdale has a gorgeous park and sparkling stream for wading in, it holds a weekly famers market with local, luscious fresh produce, it has a state-of-the art, LEED-certified library open to all and the town’s main street has several charming shops and restaurants. And of course, the drive is only a half-hour or so to Tanglewood and the unsurpassed variety of attractions in the Berkshires.
