The historic yet fully updated Thomas Harrison House is the premier vacation rental home in St. Michaels and has been rented as such since 1992. It is the only large vacation rental in the Town. The 18th century house (built while George Washington was President) is located on the harbor and the town park in the center of St. Michaels. The house has beautiful water views and is situated within walking distance of all museums, shops (including grocery stores and drug stores), restaurants, farmer's market, town pool, tennis courts, library, and other attractions. Rates vary by season, and whether stay is weeknight or weekend. Stays of a week or longer are discounted, as are last minute bookings.

A perfect location for family, families, or a group of friends vacationing, or attending weddings, reunions, or other events in St. Michaels and its surrounding areas.

Built around 1795 by Thomas Harrison Jr., 'house carpenter,' the two-story side hall/parlor clapboard house is the oldest two story dwelling in St. Michaels. It stands prominently on the town harbor adjacent the town PARK. The house is fitted with late eighteenth century style woodwork. The floors are wide plank heart of pine, and the windows have very old glass. The federal style stair, the raised six panel doors, and the period chair rails are original features.
The house is furnished with antique and reproduction furniture in keeping with the historic nature of the house.

A floor plan is available upon request.

On the first floor of the original or 'Harrison House' are the side hall (foyer) and a large PARLOR (living room) with plenty of seating and a spectacular view of St. Michaels Harbor. To the rear of the living room is the LIBRARY having a fireplace, books, a television, stereo, games, cards and puzzles, and the DINING ROOM which can comfortably seat ten. To the rear of the dining room is a one story wing which houses a large, fully equipped KITCHEN. Also on the first floor is a DEN having a queen sleep sofa, a fireplace and a half bath.

For relaxing outside on the property, the house offers a brick PATIO facing the harbor and the Miles River, and a covered PORCH facing the white picket fence enclosed back yard and gardens.

The second floor of the Harrison house includes the MASTER BEDROOM having a queen size poster bed and a twin trundle bed, a full bath, and an adjacent small sitting or READING ROOM which has a twin sofa bed. The second story of the rear portion of the house includes the BLUE ROOM having a queen bed, an adjacent 7X7 room with a twin bed, a full bath, and the 8X8 PEACH ROOM having a twin bed. Up a private spiral staircase from the DEN is the 15X11 WING BEDROOM with dormer windows, having a full size converted (mattress and box spring) rope bed and a full bath.

The third floor of the Harrison House is the ATTIC having two rooms including one full bed.

There are water views from almost every room of the house.

Also available for rent are four early 19th century two bedroom fully restored cottages located within one block of the the Thomas Harrison House.

Seasonal, week and weekend rentals available all year-round.

This house is in the perfect location for a stay in St. Michaels. It is a short walk through a beautiful historic neighborhood to the main street with all its shops and restaurants. And, it is also on the water near the town docks and museum. The home itself, built in 1795, has been carefully restored, you feel like you have taken a trip back in time while still having all the modern conveniences. The host was very polite and responsive. I highly recommend this home and this host!

Really nice place for the family reunion! Loved it. If you’ve ever been to St Michael’s, it’s the house on the water that you’ve always wanted to stay in. Lovely!

House is in a beautiful location. House needs a good cleaning. Mattresses, pillows, sheets & towels are very worn. Chairs are old, in poor shape & uncomfortable. Outdoor porch was dirty with old stuff piled all over. Fire pit had old wood & ash inside. No screen doors or windows so no chance for fresh air. Historic homes like this can be charming, but this home needs a lot of attention to make it an attractive rental property.

Location of the property was awesome. The house needs a little TLC and cleaning up. It could use a few more supplies like trash bags, toilet paper and dishwasher detergent. It could also use full size sheets for the sleeper sofa. We found fitted sheets but no top sheets.

We were 8 family members attending a family wedding. The accommodations were perfect … everyone felt very much “at home” and enjoyed staying in a wonderful historic house. The location next to water ,park, restaurants, church, wedding reception were all 5-10 minute walk away …perfect

We stayed for 4 nights and was happy with the home and location. Had an air conditioner issue on the second floor the first night which- was not good- but it was fixed by the next day. It is a very old home - and it shows…but very spacious. Floors creek. Master bathroom door doesn’t close at all. Kitchen appliances are old and storage not great- but doable. “Laundry area” was awful & dirty. Back porch is nice but needs a good clean up. Back yard is great. Showers are ok- don’t expect good water pressure. It worked out great for our needs as we were “out and about” most of the time. St. Michael’s is a wonderful place to visit.

This was our second Easter spent at the Thomas Harrison house and walking in the door felt like coming home again. There is plenty of space inside and out and plenty of cosy nooks. Town is steps away--enjoy shopping and yummy meals. Views of the lake from certain rooms in the house are the icing on th cake. Can't wait for next year!!

Perfect location enabling us to walk everywhere in St Michaels. Nice water views As stated in the house description it’s a historic property. Some of the furniture is very worn and the kitchen, although large, does need a renovation. There is also a hole in the ceiling in one of the living rooms

Everything about our stay at this very well appointed waterside home was fantastic. Proximity to the shops and restaurants in town and the waterfront made for a fantastic spot to spend a weekend in St. Michaels.

If you love history, you will love this house. It is wonderfully maintained and decorated. It sits in the heart of St. Michaels and looks out on the town park and the water. The large, well-outfitted kitchen and generous table comfortably accommodated our crowd. Each bedroom had unique features. Thomas was very friendly and helpful. A great visit!
