Just a minute's walk to Lake Michigan, the property offers private association access to a 750-foot shared beachfront. While the lake views are seasonal due to neighboring homes and trees, you can still enjoy the soothing sounds and refreshing breezes of the lake. You're not limited to our space - feel free to stroll for miles in either direction along the beach. The beach's beauty, the lake's majesty, and the stunning sunsets are simply legendary.

Inside the home, there are four floors. The main floor features a large great room with 20-foot ceilings and large windows bringing in lots of light. There is a conversational seating area with a large coffee table for snacks and games, an island with seating for three, and a custom table with seating for six. Of course, there is also a picnic table on the deck which is easily accessed from the kitchen.

The kitchen is fully stocked with all you’ll need – pots and pans, blender, drip coffee maker, hand mixer, slow cooker, flatware, glassware, and utensils.

Follow the hall from the great room, and you’ll find a full bath with a tub and shower combo along with two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. There’s also a door to the stairs that lead to the lower level. Follow these stairs down, and you’ll find the walk-out access to the front of the home. You’ll also discover a family area with a Roku TV for streaming, a sofa, and a love seat. There’s also another large coffee table for snacks and games, and a regular table with seating for six – another great place for playing games. The lower level also has a laundry/utility room, a full bath with a shower, and then two bedrooms – one with two twin beds, and one with two double beds.

Outside, there is a large wrap-around deck and a fire pit. We have several Adirondack and folding chairs, along with a picnic table.

Up the stairs from the great room, you’ll find the large primary bedroom with a window seat and king bed. There is also a full bath with a shower located off the landing at the top of the stairs, just outside the primary bedroom. From that landing, there is a circular staircase that leads to the Crow’s Nest, which is a great place to find solitude with a large, padded window seat, or to set up as a sleeping space (if you bring along an air mattress). Our kids have loved sleeping up there for the years we have stayed there!

The property is located halfway between the lakeside communities of Pentwater and Mears (Silver Lake), Michigan. To the south is Silver Lake, complete with lots of activities for the kids, several souvenir shops, restaurants, boat rentals, and of course dune buggy rentals for exploring the world-famous Silver Lake Sand Dunes. With over 2,000 acres, the dunes are a hotbed of fun with something for everyone – boating, hiking, beaches, and of course “riding” the dunes.

When you can tear yourself away from the mesmerizing lake, a world of adventure and discovery awaits nearby:

Silver Lake Sand Dunes (10 minutes):
Enjoy the world-renown sand dunes with dune buggy rentals, four-wheelers, jet skis, and bike rentals. Remember to hit Mac Woods Dune Ride for an unforgettable experience!

Pentwater (15 minutes)
Indulge in shopping, fine dining, and exciting fish charters. For a delightful treat, visit Cosmic Candy and Storybook Village, a charming interactive book store that's a hit with children and adults alike. Pentwater is known for its shops and parks, beaches, and events.

Michigan's Adventure (30 minutes)
Embark on a day of fun at this amusement park and water park. Check out their website at www.miadventure.com for more details.

JJ Ranch & Resort (20 minutes away): Experience the ultimate getaway with snow tubing, golf, indoor and outdoor waterparks, horseback riding, and 18 miles of scenic trails.

Ludington State Park (30 minutes away): Enjoy restuarants, shops and parks.

Hart Montague Trail (15 minutes away): Ride the picturesque 22-mile trail! Stop at Country Dairy to refuel during your cycling adventure!

One of the best and most-loved features of Ridge Road Cottage is its proximity to the beach. The bluff is relatively low, with 83 stairs and a couple of places to sit along the way should you need a breather. The beach itself is huge and beautiful, with trees lining the lake shore and views over the water as far as you can see. The beach is back and is huge as of spring 2024! Our association shares 750 feet of the beach, and there is more than enough room for everyone, as the beach is often on the quiet side throughout the summer. But you’re not limited to the association beach – you can literally walk for miles in either direction. And of course, in the evenings, you’ll find the sunsets that so many visitors to Michigan (and those that live here) can’t stop talking about.

Ridge Road Cottage is an excellent home-base choice for families looking to spend time relaxing and ‘getting away from it all’ while having access to restaurants, shops, the beach, and plenty of fun things to do.

Good location. 5 minute walk to beach. Deep beachfront, association property. Not crowded even during July 4th week. Home in good condition. Fairly clean. Big deck for everyone to sit. Crows Nest was a hit for 12 year old, who made it her place. Shower handle in downstairs bath a little loose/hard to turn on/off. Mark the owner was very responsive on texts and emails. His handyman Nick was prompt as well.

Wonderful location to be in the area that we love. Bedroom and bath situation was very accommodating for friends and family. Kitchen had everything needed for long weekend stay. Short walk to beautiful private beach on the big lake!

We enjoyed our 2-night stay, and did not have any issues! Most of our time was spent at the dunes, not in the house.

We had an excellent stay here. The only constructive feedback I’d offer is that the host should put instructions on how to operate the basement shower on the wall - we had to contact the host to figure out how to operate the shower. Otherwise, the beds were comfy, the location is great, and the house perfectly accommodated our group. We would definitely stay again!

Things we loved about this cottage: The kitchen. It had everything we needed and all the equipment was nice. Even a Kitchen Aide mixer is tucked into a closet! Bedrooms. They were big with lots of closet space and hooks. Beds were comfortable. The beach. It was close. The design of the house. There was lots of light. There were separate areas. There was room to be together or apart. The deck was very nice. We were very comfortable in the cottage. Absolutely no stress! If you stay here make sure to go to Silver Lake Dune Climb and then ride across the dunes at Mac Woods. Rent bikes at Country Dairy in New Era and bike the Hart Montague Trail and then have lunch at the Dairy-good food and fun!

Fantastic beach. Great for walking, playing and watching glorious sunsets. Nearby stairs to beach in Cedar Point Park was great for taking down the beach supplies; it’s wide and brand new. Short drive to Silver Lake with all the water toys you could ask for along with sand boards for surfing down the dunes. Near to Pentwater.

We had a great time at this house. We had 2 families: 4 parents, 4 teens and 4 aged 7-12, the property set up couldn’t have been more perfect! Bring a sharp knife and some non-stick pans if you’re cooking for a crowd though, the copper bottom stainless is not great for everything and the knives were all incredibly dull. There is a crock pot and a propane grill which made warming and cooking large meals easy. The beds were ok and linens were nice. It was great to have laundry on site too. There’s a nice fire pit and the walk to the beach is great, although there are lots of stairs to get to it. Ample places for everyone to hang out and play games on a rainy day. It was a quick trip up to Pentwater and so fast to get down the Silver Lake and the dunes. We would definitely book this house again!

We had a great time. The home was as described, however there was an issue with the main floor sofa(coming apart). However, the owner was very quick in responding and resolving the issue with a new sofa. Definitely would stay again!
