Stayed Jul 2, 2025My family loved our stay at the Mermaid Cottage! The proximity to the beach is great. Traffic can be a bit heavy getting in and out of Newport town, especially on a holiday weekend. Lots of room for families, the spacious basement was used as well. Overall I’d recommend the cottage to anyone looking to visit the area.

Stayed Jun 22, 2025The property was great and everything that's posted about this property is very accurate. Jackie and her husband were so easy to work with and if I had any issues they would get back to me within 2 minutes. I would tell anyone to rent this place because it has everything you need plus tons of character and charm!! The location was perfect we were 3 minutes from second beach and 5 minutes with traffic to first beach.

Stayed Sep 26, 2024We stayed in Newport for the weekend for a wedding and this house was the perfect home base! It is spacious, very clean, and has everything we needed. The beds/pillows are comfortable which is a bonus. The host was super friendly and responsive and laid out all of the information in a clear and concise way so it wasn't confusing. The listing is very clear about the parking situation which is helpful, but it's worth noting that you can only fit smaller cars in the parking spots. One of our guests has a pickup truck and we didn't realize that they wouldn't be able to park at the property given the size of their truck. We would still stay here again though if we ever came back to Newport it was great!
