Madison, New Hampshire
Have you had your fill of dowdy, musty rentals Do you appreciate the aesthetics of a truly beautiful home with quality furnishings and all the amenities, in a gorgeous setting Then you've come to the right place.
We fell in love with this stunning wooded, lakefront lot and worked with an architect to design a custom home that would do it justice. The result is this 4-bedroom, 3.5 bath home whose bedrooms ALL face the lake, and whose great room will instantly relax you -- it's that serene and beautiful, with its full wall of windows overlooking the pond.
Relax on the screen porch, on the patio, or on the master bedroom's balcony -- the views are glorious in every direction, no matter where you choose to hang out. Or jump off the private dock into the crisp, refreshing waters of our tranquil no-motorcraft pond. Three kayaks, a canoe and a floating dock with built-in sunbathing chaises are yours to enjoy. If you want your kids to make friends, just walk up the road to one of two sandy, shared neighborhood beaches, one of which has a basketball court.
Our home, dubbed 'Lakehouse Heaven,' is in Madison, just outside North Conway -- which offers all the restaurants you could ask for, plus tax-free shopping (take your pick: outlets, handcrafts, antiques, or all three), mini-golf, movies, summer stock theater, and nightlife. And better yet, we are right in the heart of the glorious White Mountains, offering hiking, biking, rock climbing, paddling, secluded swimming holes, plus numerous ski resorts offering summer fun in the form of mountain slides, zip lines, and more.
This house is well suited to sharing by two families, since 2 bedrooms are on the first floor and 2 are on the second, with custom-tiled bathrooms both upstairs and down. There are queen size beds in the upstairs master bedroom and in one of the downstairs bedrooms. The second downstairs bedroom has a pair of twin beds, and the final upstairs bedroom has a double bed plus a twin bed. There is a twin-size daybed in the loft and a finished walkout basement with twin-size LL Bean sleeper chair and two twin-size mattresses “disguised” as wall hangings.
The loft also offers a comfortable desk, for those who need to get work done while on vacation. (Wi-fi is provided.) The Master Bedroom boasts a private balcony with views of the pond and the hills beyond.
A full laundry room and walkout basement rec room add to the home's family-friendly appeal. The kitchen is a cook's dream, with high-end stainless appliances, the quietest Bosch dishwasher on the market, and a layout designed for multiple cooks. Or treat yourselves to dinner out, at a wide variety of nearby restaurants.
This house will not disappoint -- except when the time comes to leave!!

Our three-generation family agreed that this was our very best NH vacation venue. Lakehouse Heaven is fabulous, comfortable, and exceptionally well stocked. Our host was most communicative, making us feel more like family than renters. Our stay was a memorable family experience.
This property was perfect for a family vacation. The view was beautiful, the house was clean, there was plenty of common space, and the owner responded quickly to questions. We have rented other properties before and had issues with no available space in fridge/freezer or just not clean and we were hesitant to try again, but this place was perfect. We would definitely choose to stay here again.
From the moment we walked in, it felt like this Lakehouse Heaven was a home away from home. The Great Room is indeed great - plenty of room for 9 or 10 people to collect, cook eat and play games together or in little groups-- and the outdoor space is fabulous! Many chairs to gather around a fire pit to talk, drink, make smores and look at the stars... and AMAZINGLY FEW MOSQUITOES! Yet there is a screened porch just in case... The water is lovely and the float is ideal. Every little thing you could wish for is supplied--including boats. And a hot tub! There are plenty of bedrooms and places to have privacy. And 4 bathrooms! LOVED this spot. And the owner was very friendly and easy to communicate (text) with. Highly recommend. We hope to come back!
Every family member had a great time kids range age 3 to 17. Little ones loved the sandy beach and older kids loved jumping off the homes private dock. Adults canoed and kayaked as well as just floating in the pond. Fire pit, marshmallows and Loons at night. Owner was so proficient with the instructional sheets and checked to make sure we didn't have any questions - Great vacation, we will return!
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Betsy’s house. Betsy was very helpful and communicative both before and during our stay. The view from the patio was spectacular and the house is located close to North Conway and many fabulous hikes and waterfalls. During our stay we visited the Castle in the Clouds, tubed down the Saco River, hiked Beede Falls and Sabaday Falls, and tubed at Cascade Falls in North Woodstock. We also enjoyed walking around North Conway and visiting the old railway station. There were plenty of boats with which to enjoy the lake and it was great to have a floating dock to swim to. The jacuzzi was very popular as well as the fire pit. The house is big enough that we could all have space when we wanted it. It was well-lit and welcoming. An unexpected joy was two beautiful red foxes living at the entry to the neighborhood. What a magical place!
We had an absolutely wonderful family vacation at Lakehouse Heaven. It was truly heavenly! Betsy was very responsive, friendly and helpful with questions about the house and the area. She had some wonderful dining recommendations. The house was clean, beautiful and accommodated our family of 7 adults and 3 grandchildren very well. The open kitchen and great room area with the fireplace was a perfect gathering place for the adults and the family room downstairs provided a space for the little ones to play. I loved the deck off the master bedroom. What a Wonderful place for morning coffee! The rest of the family enjoyed the view of the lake from every bedroom. The lake was crystal clear and we enjoyed the beaches as well as swimming off the dock to the private float. Evenings were very relaxing with the sound of loons, the crackling of the fire in the fire pit and relaxing in the hot tub. We couldn’t have been happier with our rental and we look forwarded to returning!
Wow!!!! Let me begin by saying that this property exceeded our expectations, and our expectations were extremely high! We have been renting another Lakehouse for years, and the owners sold it, leaving us to start all over again in the search for the perfect Lakehouse experience! Have you ever found something online and it looks great, and when you arrive, it turns out to be... Well... Erm... Ghetto? Well, this property is everything BUT that! It is, in fact, magical!!! We had a large party of family who traveled from both coasts, and there was never a feeling of not having enough space! The bedrooms are lovely and not cramped or crowded. The kitchen and great room are truly the heart of this home! It's where all the action happens, from the well-equipped kitchen, to the great room and puzzle table (we had puzzles going every day and night), to the screened porch, to the doors off the great room which open to the wonderful deck, firepit and hot tub. There are two tables on the deck and plenty of chairs. We brought a lot of candles with us for evenings, but there are plenty of lights to illuminate your evenings outside. There is a laundry line installed next to the outdoor shower for wet suits and towels. Yes! Outdoor shower!!! Off the stone patio, there are a few steps and then a lovely, short, winding trail down to the dock and the lake. We recommend flip flops for this quick journey, because stepping on an occasional pebble never feels good, but mostly to cut down on dirt and debris from your feet being transferred to the patio and into the hot tub. We also brought a large Rubbermaid bin and filled it with fresh water every day and placed it in front of the hot tub as a foot wash before entering the hot tub. It really helps to keep it more clean. The outdoor shower also helps with keeping things neater--especially when traveling with a gaggle of kids! Near the dock is a small clearing with a bench. We actually brought a card table and some camp chairs from home, and installed them next to the bench, to create a second sitting area right by the dock. The kids spent a lot of time there playing cards and having snacks. The water is clean and beautiful. The rigid floating dock was a huge bonus and filled with happy people all day, every day. Bring extra coolers for ice and drinks. And pay attention to the dump schedule--there are NO alternatives:) We are already planning to return next summer!!! Fantastic Lakehouse retreat!!!! Thanks, Betsy!!!
This was our second stay at this beautiful lake house! I believe that the owners truly want to share their little piece of Heaven with you when you rent this place! It is nestled in the woods perfectly placed on the pond and delivers nothing but peace and serenity. It is so relaxing to sit on the patio each morning with a book and coffee. Or, sit by the fire at night and watch the moon rise over the water. This house is large enough to enjoy 10 people and not feel you are in each others' space while you are there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay the first time, so much, we decided to go back a second time this year and again it didn't disappoint! We can't wait to visit again!
Our family had a wonderful time. We had 10 people of all ages. The place was beautiful, we enjoyed fishing, swimming, kayaking, sitting in the hot tub and having campfires at night. The house was plenty big enough, and conveniently located to take some day trips. Our only complaint was there was no cable TV. Not a big issue, but something we weren't expecting. Other than that we had a great time and would rent the house again.
My family of 4 (wife and 2 boys ages 12/9)stayed for a week in August with another family of 3 (daughter age 6). It was our first time vacationing in N.H. We also had visitors stay for a night or two as there was more than enough room. The house is absolutely beautiful!!..The kitchen is very modern and set up perfectly and is open to a huge living room area with a beautiful sitting area. There are several bedrooms as well as a huge finished rec room in the basement that the kids enjoyed. The first thing we did was drive to North Conway(10/15 minutes) and stock up on food for the week. There is also a small general store a couple minutes away that has pretty much anything you would need also. We ate every night outside on the screened in porch which was usually followed by lighting the fire pit on the stoned patio overlooking the lake. We all loved the lake and would swim and kayak daily. The house is a short drive to pretty much anything you want to do in the area. There is tons of different hiking trails, swimming holes, shopping..etc..pretty much anything you want to do is not to far away!! We all loved it and plan on coming back every summer. We have been away several times with our kids (Disney, tropical islands) and this was probably the best time they had. They can't wait to return. The pictures on the web site do not do the house justice!!! It is truly beautiful and whoever stays there will absolutely be hooked to come back!!
