Lake Ann is a lovely and peaceful lake with lots of natural beauty. Pleasantview Cottage met all of our expectations. We were a family of 11 comprised of three generations. The cottage itself had a screened porch where we shared many meals together and played very competitive card games. Most evenings we spent around a bonfire on the shore of the lake sometimes roasting hotdogs, brats, and making s’mores. Our days were filled with kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and visits to Lake Michigan beaches. The Hughey’s were great hosts checking in with us to make sure everything was going smoothly. You won’t be disappointed with this VRBO rental.
Great experience! If you like to cook the owner has a very well supplied kitchen! Truly magical for a family event !
Gary was a fantastic host. Very easy to communicate with. We had a great time while there. We had 5 grandkids aged 4 and under and they never wanted to leave. The beds were very comfortable and every amenity that you need is there. Highly recommend!
Lake Ann is a beautiful, quiet, picture-perfect lake, with nesting loons and bald eagles. The property is well stocked. The kitchen has all the pans and appliances that one needs; there are games and books for all ages; kayaks and a row boat and canoe are available for use. The owners can even provide baby gates, if needed. The property is well maintained. The owners are local and very available. They responded promptly to our questions and issues. They are also a delight to work with. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return. We highly recommend this property.
Great host and Beautiful property!
The property was great. The house was very clean and comfortable. It was beautifully decorated. The flowers and landscaping were beautiful. With five boys between ages 6-13 the yard and dock were great and in constant use. We were able to rent a pontoon boat for a few days which was a great option. It is centrally located and only about 30 minutes from everything. Gary was an amazing host.
We could not have been more happy with our week on Lake Ann. The family especially enjoyed fishing from the dock, kayaking, canoeing, and evenings around the campfire. The grounds were so lovely with lots of greenery and flowers. Gary was an excellent host that encouraged communication and was always quick to respond to questions. We would highly recommend this house for an extended family.
“Amazing family vacation location! Water access and fun activities for all ages and within close driving distance to day excursions. Had a great time with 8 adults and 4 children (aged 6, 3, 2, 6 months). Boats, jackets and fishing poles were available. Gary and Stacey were extremely helpful, easily accessible and very warm hosts. We not only saw 100 stars, I would give this property 100 stars! We look forward to returning!
This was a great family getaway. The house is spacious with a huge playroom and the bass in the lake are BIG!
Fantastic home for our family, 6 adults and 3 children to gather this summer. The crow’s nest was perfect for the 2 older children while the pull out on the main floor served the youngest child perfectly. The pull out was very comfortable as were all the beds. Everything was well stocked inside and out including activities to do. We had so much fun together and plenty of space when we needed alone time. Pictures are exactly what is at the house. Gary was a fabulous host and quickly responded to any questions we had! Thank you for a fabulous and relaxing vacation!
Great space for 8 adults and 4 kids. Very relaxing lake front property. Great stocked kitchen, great views of the lake, RELAXING!!
The property was AMAZING! Just as described! We had a wonderful time! Gary & Stacy were easy to work with and responded quickly via text. They ordered a repair part for a kayak and delivered it asap. Perfect location for our family. Beautiful flowers, lots of nature! Keep in mind there are lots of steps - might be difficult for older folks. No A/C, which isn't usually an issue in Northern Michigan, but can be an issue for some folks.
We had a wonderful week and this house was perfect for our crew! The teenagers loved having their own “apartment” and the basement was perfect for the grandparents! The house was stocked with everything we could possibly need and then some. Gary was a fabulous host and quickly responded to all of our questions! I absolutely recommend this property and would book again without hesitation!
Was the absolute perfect lake house for our friends and family getaway. All the amenities you could imagine and then some. We enjoyed kayaking and spotting a bald eagles nest, sitting by the campfire and cooking meals on the grill. Thank you to our hosts!
Our extended family gathered for an annual reunion at this property for the first time this year - and already booked for next year! It was perfect for us. Some of the things we loved: 1. The 2 buildings - there was a place for those who wanted to stay up late and hang out, watch movies, play video games, and be as loud as they wanted without waking up the sleeping babies and those who wanted to retire early on the other side of the home. 2. Enough space to spread out - but also be together. We ate meals together and it accommodated everyone. When we needed space, all were able to find either a comfy chair in the basement to read a book, a lounge chair on the balcony, the hammock, an excursion into town, or a kayak around the lake. 3. Gary and Stacey were awesome to communicate with. All of our questions were answered ahead of time, we felt confident we were going to have the experience we wanted, needs were addressed immediately while we were there, and they were just a pleasure to know. It felt like we had personal hosts to our vacation. 4. Lake Ann is beautiful. It's not too big of a lake, and not too small. Some power boats - but accessible to swim across in the morning and kayak to see wildlife. 5. Proximity to Traverse City. We had a schedule in which we went on excursions in the morning - and were home for a nap time with kids by the afternoon. Everything was accessible and there are just so many cool things to do in the area for kids and adults alike! Our family highly recommends this place!
Beautiful as they were, the pictures alone do not do this home justice!! Gary and Stacey have a perfectly appointed respite awaiting you. From the moment you pull up and see the garden, you are steps away from a breathtaking view across the property to the water. You'll enjoy the morning sunrise out the back windows while you make breakfast (with every kitchen tool you might not even know you needed!) There was plenty of space for our group to sleep and play (5 aunts and uncles + 4 kid cousins) including an Eagle's Nest / Princess Loft area for the kids. The Rec room above the garage gives you access to more beds, ping pong, a gym setup to rival any fitness center + lounging and TV space. Eating dinner in the breezeway was a perfect way to enjoy being outside without the bugs! The beds, linens, pillows and towels rivaled a fine hotel. Not hyperbole. Everywhere you look, you feel the care put into the home. It does not feel like a rental. Use of 2 kayaks, a canoe + rowboat are included (along with life jackets and sand / water toys) and recommended! In the morning you can catch blooming lily pads and a real eagle's nest off to the right. The house is situated on a quiet corner of the lake which is perfect for the non-motorized watercraft and birdwatching. If you venture left on the water, there seems to be more action. The sandy area was great for the kids to play, the water shallow and warm, with lots of little fish to watch. Ending the night at the firepit with smores was a real treat! You are also located just a short ride away from many great day trips - Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Haven, Glen Arbor, Frankfort, Traverse City... Booking was simple, the communication was clear, and our (very few) questions on site were answered very quickly. Gary and Stacey are super hosts :) Bring your clothes, your food and prepare for your best vacation. 100% - A+ - 5 Star!
