This was a quick trip focused around seeing Kilauea’s frequent eruption episodes. We chose this vacation rental for budget reasons, and proximity to Volcano national park (40 minute drive). The tiny home was as described, 1 queen bed, 1 twin bed, full bath, well equipped kitchen, except for dishwasher (no big deal) it was tidy enough. Kitchen table and bench is really only place to sit, no lounge chairs or comfortable seating. Did not see a bbq, and outside table and chairs are pointless…rusty, rickety furniture. Beach chairs were provided, but one was broken upon arrival and had to ask to replace it. The main complaint really is that once the sun goes down (5:30 or so), not much else to do, but go home to your pace and relax… but no comfortable place to sit, inside or outside. I even tried a beach chair inside, but that was no good. All in all, we got what we paid for, just lacking some simple comforts.

The owners or care takers (I don't know who exactly they were) were kind and tried to help us when we asked. The decorations are a nice touch and seemed clean. It is located where it rains a lot, so expect a lot of humidity. The windows were open when we walked in (the windows do have screens), I'm guessing the windows were kept open to keep the place cool and comfortable. There is a fan in the bedroom and living room, but the fan in the living room will only stay on if the light stays on, so we couldn't sleep with the fan on, at least not in the living room. We tried to sleep with windows open throughout the night, but the coqui frogs wouldn't let us sleep. They are noisy and we're just not used to them. Also, at least 1 rooster is on the property and will start crowing early in the morning. Our plan was to at least have breakfast in this VRBO and save money by not eating out for every meal, and then go exploring, but there were cockroaches in the kitchen. They may have been the water kind, but still we no longer felt comfortable eating there. I should mention we spoke to one of the local people in Hawaii and he wasn't too surprised there were bugs in the kitchen. Basically, he said it is to be expected since it is an island.I did notice they used natural non toxic products which we appreciated.
