Kitty's Place - Beach Cottage, Dunes West, 3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom

Was everything we expected from a well run rental.

I booked Kitty’s House on Thursday and Friday night was in Intensive Care in the Hospital. We were to check in Saturday. My husband called Saturday morning and talked with VRBO and the Proactive Vacation people who supposedly asked owner if they would do any type refund. They refused. So we had no vacation and no refund. I am home now but very disappointed in how everything went. Would never try this again.

The deck steps and beach access needs some repair but that is only complaint. House had everything you would need. Very quiet and peaceful

Kitty’s Place was not fancy- very 1950-60 retro but had all that we needed. Very clean. Really enjoyed our stay there. Will try to stay there again.

Nice property. Was disappointed in the grill, based on looks we didn't even try it, but the property was clean and fit our needs.

The property is just as it advertises! It is comfortable and lived in, but not run down by any means. It is on a quiet dead end street, perfect for kids riding bikes! The view of the inlet at the end of the room is beautiful. House was very well stocked with appliances/utensils etc. The grill could use an update but it worked for us the 1 time we used it. We did not have the same issues with dish cleanliness other guests wrote about. Be aware that while the beach access is directly down the street, there are stairs up and down the dunes and it is a long walk to the actual beach. It wouldn't keep me from renting this house again but it's something to be aware of. Overall, Kitty's Place was a hit with us! We would definitely rent it again!

This property was just what our small family needed to enjoy our 1 week stay, the kitchen had everything you really need to cook and bake. I would suggest house keeping pay closer attention to cooking utensils and frying pans because on our stay we experienced lots of dirty utensils and appliances. Unfortunately I had to visit the urgent care in Shallote during our stay because of the coffee pot being full of black mold and I was the only coffee drinker and the only one who got sick. I would suggest using their Keurig instead. Our favorite places were the balconies with the views of the intercostal waterways and sunsets from the end of the street. The breeze was wonderful from both balconies. Hearing the waves was relaxing and the birds were in abundance all over the island. Some updates could be done to the very used interior furniture but the couches were comfy. The beds have plastic liners on them in addition to the mattress pad covers which they made for a restless sleep because it was like laying on a heating pad and you could hear everyone in the house when they moved sleeping positions. Had to call maintenance a couple times and they came right away so that was helpful. The beach access was convenient and the homeowners on both sides were friendly. I would consider renting again in the future. We took short trips into Shalotte for dining and bowling at Planet Fun and ate at San Jose’s which was authentic. We enjoyed a short hike at Green Swamp Perserve off 211 and saw indigenous Venus fly traps and pitcher plants and wild orchids. On Thursdays there is a farmers market in Ocean Isle and that was very nice to visit it’s at a winery. You can grab fresh produce and fruit and local crafts.

Our family has made great memories duri our Aug 2020 stay at the Kitty's Place property. Much kudos to Mgmt company that have been very responsive in answering questions multiple times before and during the stay, as well as personally calling in to see if there is anything that we need. We really liked to discovering the Holden Beach Island and hope to be back again. This specific property is at a great location- very private yet close to the beach. The house has everything a family needs. This property is well worn and reasonably maintained and has its own charm with little things here and there that need to be touched up or updated and that is Okay. The private street shares a municipal 200-300 ft long wooden walkway/boardwalk to the beqch that has three flights of stairs and is badly in need of maintenance. Do not rush as you walk through and be wary of splinters. This structure is owned and maintained by municipality and its condition cannot be held against Kitty' Place property management company. There is nothing else to do on the island except being on the beach. And if you are a beach person, you are in for a treat! There are couple of restaurants and marketplaces selling freshly caught fish. It is satisfying to see fish being unloaded from the boat, prepped, and sold to you right at the pier. Prices are a bit high though. Vacationers are advised to bring mosquito/insect repellant. We were bitten top to bottom by unknown species.
