The kitchen, dining room and living room were all great spaces for enjoying friends. The beds were all very comfortable. The deck and the hot tub were very nice!
Nice place with a great view from the back deck. Saw several black bears.
Some aspects of this place were great. There was plenty of space in the house and outside. Our kids had a great time exploring the yard and the deck was spacious. The view was gorgeous. Each lower floor bedroom has a ceiling fan. We were allowed to check in a couple hours early, which was very nice. Unfortunately, there were multiple issues that greatly took away from the vacation. The house is in need of many repairs that are obviously being ignored. It was hot while we were there, and the place doesn't have AC. We knew and expected this. However, we did not anticipate that multiple of the windows were broken and missing screens, so that we could not open them and get ventilation into the house. This included the loft with 4 single beds, making it very hard for the children to sleep. The screen on the deck sliding door as well. Also the upstairs deck is apparently unsafe. There was a note to simply not use the deck and on one of the windows saying it was broken by a previous renter. If that's the case, fix it-don't just leave a note. The second bathroom had a tub that did not drain, resulting in standing in ankle deep water while showering. All the burners in the gas grill have completely rusted out and need to be replaced. There is a mouse problem. We found multiple dead mice, including one in the dining room with maggots. We tried to use the washer for some towels, but it only filled with water and never drained.
Beautiful property, nice amenities. Nature and beautiful views up close. We all enjoyed it. Only hitch was cell phone service not available in area, except through the wifi. Sleeps 9, need more bowls and sliverware to match.
The house was just ok. We traveled with 6 teens and thought that there was a second hangout space for them, which turned out to be more of a storage/mud room. Not a huge issue, except the only other living space was cramped and uncomfortable (seating for 6 if you huddle close together.) Additionally the upstairs bathroom situation was terrible. The shower/sink was in one room, while the toilet was in a hobbit hole around the corner. One of our teens was over 6 ft (granted not everyone is that tall) and he literally couldn't stand in the room. The toilet was on an elevated thrown thing...You have to see to believe. The other showers had mold and could use some TLC. Again, we made the best of it. Unfortunately, the real reason for my poor review is much more serious. On the 3rd day of our stay the entire house ran out of propane. This meant that we had no central floor heating (they provided electric space heaters as alternative) no oven, no stove and NO HOT WATER. We contacted the house manager, who was very sweet and promptly replied. She explained that they have had prolonged issues with the supplier. She tried to arrange for them to refill the next day, but no one arrived. All told, we were without the necessities for 48 hours total, which accounted for 6 meals we were unable to easily prepare and 10 stinky people. We had purchased groceries that required oven/stove which we ended up not being able to make. We made due with eggs in the microwave (gross and hard to clean up) one morning but had to eat out 2 meals unexpectedly, after a long day of skiing. The last thing you want to do after a long day on the slopes is find a place to accommodate a table of 10 for dinner! This, and the loss of the wasted groceries involved a large extra expense for our group, not to mention the incredible inconvenience and discomfort. The owner of the house messaged us on the first day of no propane to say she would give us a $200 discount, which she never returned. However, IMO 48 hours was beyond a minor inconvenience and we requested she refund us the daily rate for 2 of the 6 days that we were there. She NEVER responded or offered counter offer and completely ignored me, which is simply rude. Lastly, if you plan to visit in the warmer times, there is a den of garter snakes that live under the deck who hang out in the day time (I'm told they are frequently there.) I know they are harmless, but I didn't love it. You can do better.
This house is definitely off the beaten path (literally), but the house is worth the 20 minute drive from the ski resort! Hot tub has great views, bedrooms are cozy, kitchen is updated and beautiful, and the house itself is very spacious. The attic having 4 beds is also great for a big group stay. We had 9 in our group and it was perfect size. Highly recommend!
Perfect location and accomodations!
This place was perfect for my friends and I being about equal distance from the mountain and the town. We enjoyed the snow and the hot tub afterwards was perfect :)
Property had a great view. We really enjoyed the heated floors and the hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were comfortable, good gathering areas and the home was clean. The owner and property manager were very responsive to our questions and requests. The home was a bit off the beaten path with a winding one lane dirt road for about one mile. The dryer was very loud which was annoying since the washer/dryer is on main hallway by the bedrooms.
some hot tub trouble , but overall much fun and great place.
The home was perfect and the location was secluded. Bring your telescope for some star gazing!
The house was great! Upon arrival, the key box was difficult to find and door and key box were difficult to open. The kids loved the quirky upstairs area. The downstairs beds were a little squeaky, but the sheets were nice and warm and cozy. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked with towels. The double shower in the primary bedroom was glorious. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, etc. The view was beautiful and it was lovely sitting out on the deck at night looking up at all of the stars. Overall, we had a great stay.
House was perfect for our family of 10. Photos are a little dated but all and all a great stay. Well equipped kitchen and we enjoyed the deck.
We had four adults and four younger children staying here in June. No one was able to sleep upstairs in the bedroom for kids since it was over 90* up there and only a few windows were able to be open with screens. The fans didn't do much if anything to help the situation. We had to bring a mattress from upstairs and put it on the floor of the living room where the kids slept, as well as on the couch and with the parents. They would have liked to use this area but couldn't. The hot tub was a huge plus, but the deck is in great need of repair as are the table, chairs and lounges. In one area the rotted boards on the deck had nail heads sticking up, and one grandson had multiple splinters in his hand from the chairs which really need to be sanded or replaced. No cushions come with the chaise lounges making them unusable again due to needing sanding or replacing. The view is gorgeous from the deck and was wonderful and appreciated. The living area, bedrooms and kitchen are really nice, but due to high temps while we visited, it was difficult to sleep due to how hot it was in the bedrooms. I know this isn't an area where air conditioning is common, but we didn't get a lot of sleep. The house was clean with the exception of one toilet that was missed, but the situation was remedied by the housekeeper who was very nice and helpful. If repairs are made, we would recommend this house, but as it is now, we wouldn't. It's location makes visiting Taos convenient, and it is remote and peaceful for those who are looking to get away in a lovely area.
No AC, so it was a little too warm at night, but overall we had a great time.
We had a girls weekend. Went for a soak at ojo caliente then enjoyed our stay at the house! Kitchen had everything we needed but a tea kettle! A pan works too :) The rooms were great sizes. Some of us shared, others got their own space. And the view! So beautiful! The hot tub was a great addition.
