We were given the wrong directions on our check in package. Someone was at the house we were given directions to and she had the directions to the house we actually rented. When we did get to the correct house, we didn't have the correct code to enter the house, ended up having to call the number to get the correct code. We have rented from Greybeard before but this was a bad experience for us. We are 80 & 83 years old and were not expecting the location to be so high up in the mountain. We are from the area, but had not visited Gateway Mountain before this trip and were disappointed in the location of the house we rented. Quite frankly I don't know how emergency fire trucks or medical vehicles could reach someone in trouble or if there was a fire in that house....

What a wonderful location. We would return simply because of that. The house was spacious with wonderful games for the kids. The only problem we had was it was not clean. It appeared like the house had sat empty for quite a while and wasn’t checked before we checked it. Some of floors were dusty and dirty. There were a few dead bugs laying about. One of the basement bedrooms had something that look like a dark drink spilled on the wall The view from the deck was beautiful and peaceful. However, the deck was full of cobwebs, and had plants growing out from in between the boards. A few of the dishes were dirty. But I think that might have been because the top dishwasher didn’t work, and maybe the cleaning staff didn’t realized it before the dishes were placed back into the cupboards. I’m sure I could’ve asked the management team to send a cleaner out to clean the house a little better however, we were enjoying our time and didn’t want to be interrupted by a cleaner. I do feel like if you’re going to pay that much for a house. It should be very clean when you check in And well-maintained. My daughter did get to see a bear. It came right up to the window on the bottom deck. Glad the door was shut and locked.

The Hummingbird was an excellent choice for our family. Location was awesome to all the amenities: Chimney Rock, Black Mountain, Old Fort, and Ashville! We didn't waste a minute! Weather was great! The house had everything and more and pics online don't do it justice it's better!!!!!!! The perfect stay for a family!

Beautiful home with 50+ mile views that has everything but a pool table. The luxury neighborhood homes have separation like a 10-20 acre parcel development. Very comfortable furniture and beds with a kitchen fit for a Chef. Rear deck views are endless and equipped with a nice gas grill and small fire pit table for roasting marshmallows while enjoying the views, fireflies and occasional sighting of Yogi and BooBoo. 5-miles to I40 and 20-40 minute access to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Park. We will definitely visit again.

It's a beautiful home with lots of amenities, games, ping pong table. View is outstanding! I would not try to negotiate the extremely steep and twisty road to the house in bad weather...

Loved our rental. Very clean, open and secluded. Looked just like the pictures. Especially loved the open and big kitchen with a lovely pantry. Also very close to black mt. and Asheville.

In a word, Magical. The placement of the homes on the tops of these mountain peaks each with a unique view of the mountains is tremendous. The roads are not for the faint of heart, they are fine, go slow, for many they might push ones constitutions. We loved it, just enough challenge driving the roads to make your realize you're not in Kansas anymore. The home is huge, and layed out perfectly for our family needs. The kitchen is a joy to cook in, we were all very happy!
