Cisternino, Puglia
Reaching this authentic treasure will take you on a journey to a dimension without time, along the gentle ups and downs in the unique landscape of the Valle d'Itria. It is a landcsape unique of its kind, divided by typical stone walls, which enclose small vineyards, olive groves and orchards, from which poke out the domes of the trulli. Our trullo is situated right in this wonderful scenario, in a good position at 15 km from the sea and between the small towns of Ostuni (the white city) and Cisternino. You can easily visit any of the sights in Puglia such as the caves of Castellana, the trulli of Alberobello, the baroque cities of Lecce and Martina Franca, the excavations of Egnazia, Castel del Monte,Grottaglie famous for its ceramics, Taranto, Brindisi and Lecce museums.
TRULLO EDERA: 2+2 sleeping seats(1 double bedroom and in the living room a sofa bed)
We have just returned from a lovely week at this villa, a good base for exploring this part of Puglia - the Vall d'Itria region. The villa is actually situated in the country a few miles from Cisternino and Martina Franca, surrounded by rolling hills and farming country. It is a very attractive, modernized trulli, part of a pair of cottages, with all you could want for two people on a short stay holiday. it was clean and well equipped, much like moving into a functioning home. The kitchen allowed us to cook and sample some of the delights of the local foods. We really enjoyed the contact with the owners, the Zizzi family, who had clearly thought through the basics of what a tired guest needs on arrival late at night. They continued to be very hospitable and full of advice about local visits or in solving any problems. We would recommend it to anyone who wants to explore this part of Puglia and understand more of the local culture. It was a great introduction to puglian hospitality.
