Welcome to Historic Dickeyville! Once a bustling village with paper and textile mills located within the Baltimore City limits, Dickeyville is named after the last mill owner, William J. Dickey. The Gwynn’s Falls, which once powered these mills, winds its way through the village and is now a scenic place for you to enjoy! Your home-away-from-home sits directly across from the Gwynns Falls river system and offers beautiful views of the surrounding 1,100 acres of natural forest. If you like serene, green habitats, you will love visiting Dickeyville. The property has a large mature perennial garden and front yard, with ample vehicle parking in front of the home as well as a pull in driveway for one car. The gardens are glorious starting in the Spring and provide for a lovely view from inside the home. The upstairs covered porch is a special place which to view the surrounding greenspaces and hear the sounds of the rushing water of the Gwynns Falls. I believe you will enjoy the serenity and country feel of historic Dickeyville, MD! .

Nice quiet neighborhood, great place to walk the dogs. It was nice to have a place to stay that welcomed dogs. Bathroom had luxurious towels! Easy in and out to get to where we needed to be in Baltimore.

This property is located in a beautiful quaint historic district. It is a quiet neighborhood and felt very safe. The large front upper level deck is a wonderful spot to relax and hear the rushing waters of the falls in the park across the street. The hostess Mary was very pleasant and was eager to please. It is an older home that is furnished in a tasteful eclectic style. My only issue is that the first floor bathroom is located just outside of the attached cottage at the rear of the home where Mary resides. Her cottage residence is separated by a hall/sunroom and French doors, so there is ample privacy. But to use this first floor bath, you need to go through the French doors and down the hall, and therefore it feels like you are entering her space. I would have listed it as 1 instead of a 2 bathroom, especially if guests are planning on using the small 1st floor bedroom (which we did not see since the door was kept closed). Upstairs beds were comfortable and kitchen had all we needed. Each of the rooms has their own wall mounted HVAC units, that work well, but requires some attention to get the rooms to be comfortable.

I can't say enough about the lovely village of Dickeyville and the House on the Gywnns Falls. We LOVED walking from our the house down the quiet street and into miles of green space and trails. The village feels like an old English Village with stone and clapboard houses and and the sounds (and sights) of the waterfall. Mary lives in a cottage attached to the back hallway of the house, so if you need her she is there. She was helpful, thoughtful, and kind, but not intrusive. Great stay!

The house is truly aesthetically pleasing, with a beautiful design that creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Every detail, from the tasteful décor to the thoughtful layout, adds to its charm and comfort. I genuinely enjoyed my stay and appreciated how relaxing and inviting the space felt. It was a wonderful experience overall, and I would gladly return again.

Charming house in a beautiful historic mill village. Such a quiet spot, right next to the Gwynn’s Falls. The sound of the river was louder than the sound of traffic, which is very unique! Mary and was a gracious host. She and her dog greeted us upon arrival and showed us around the house. She also turned the mini split heaters on before we arrived so it was nice and warm inside. The house was clean with a rustic vibe and the second story porch was just the perfect place to drink coffee in the morning. If you are looking for a fully private stay with no in person contact with the host, than this isn’t the place for you. My only suggestion would be to get the dishwasher fixed. Mary did warn us that it wasn’t working. Doing dishes by hand is a pain but not the end of the world! Overall, It was cute and relaxing. I would absolutely stay here again!

The house was cute. It reminds me of an old rustic style cottage I like the layout and the set up of the house, the original furniture. I don’t like that the bathroom door upstairs did not latch or lock. There was an issue with flickering lights, although it is an old house. Either I did not read all of the description or I was unaware that the host would be on site that was a little awkward, but I get it, but I think it should definitely be in the description when booking.

Highly recommend! You would never expect such beautiful scenery in the city. So much history surrounding the street and park. Mary was welcoming and really cares about the guest experience. The landscaping in the front is amazing and really adds to the privacy. We loved our stay!!

The house is very lovely. Yes, it is incredibly old, so I understood the creaky floors. We absolutely adore old homes. The listing itself is, however, inaccurate. The second bathroom is within the shared hallway, which does indeed, smell of urine. The hallway and downstairs of the house smell of urine & mildew. I expected certain things. That wasn't an issue. The issue is with the host/owner. She was extremely adamant that she meet us. I, politely, explained that we check in late, typically as we like to do our own thing. Still, she persisted. The owner came to the house, just to count the number of people and make sure we hadn't brought pets. She told us, I like to see who all is here and if you brought pets. People bring pets and don't tell me. This was at 7 pm. Honestly, made things very uncomfortable. We paid for the entire house, but her cleaners hadn't changed the sheets on one of the beds upstairs nor had the room we slept in been clean. The floors have plaster dust everywhere. She claims that she has cleaners, this is a lie. When we checked out, no cleaners showed. It was simply her, we watched. She lied to us. She claimed that she did not know that the other room had not been made. However, in her messages to me, she stated that she went into the upstairs to turn on HVAC in each room prior to our arrival. She shared that the dishwasher was broken, but she failed to inform us that the dishwasher was full of moldy/food soaked dishes: See below for further review:

Historically located older home with creaky wood floors with lots of windows, I felt like we never really had complete privacy. Beautiful plants surrounded the house and a walking trail and park down the street.

Do not be fooled by this host’s listing. Upon arrival, we were met by an extremely condescending, nasty, and arrogant woman who immediately made us feel threatened and unwelcome. After a long day and a late arrival, we found her inside the property in her pajamas with her dog barking uncontrollably. From the moment we stepped through the door, she began yelling and aggressively questioning us, accusing me of lying and manipulating her booking system.I booked the property according to the number of beds needed for my staff while working a massive event in town, and was fully prepared to pay any additional fees for two extra staff members. Instead of calmly working out a reasonable solution, the host chose to humiliate and degrade us with harsh words, an unprofessional attitude, and outright hostility. We had no intention of spending time in her home beyond sleeping a few hours each night, given our 16-hour workdays. Unfortunately, she treated us as if we planned to destroy her home, leaving us deeply uncomfortable, unsafe, and completely unable to relax. In the middle of the night, with the city fully booked for the event, we were forced to scramble to find hotel rooms, spending 800 on three rooms the first night and another 600 the following night. This nightmare of a host turned what should have been a simple, professional stay into an experience filled with stress, fear, anxiety, and even depression.I would never recommend this property to anyone. No one deserves to

Mary greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the property and any instructions we needed to know and she was very sweet and inviting. The property itself is beautifully landscaped, clean, and quiet. There's a park nearby with a waterfall which blocks out the sounds of surrounding traffic. The bed is very comforable and gave my spouse and I a wonderful night of rest. Overall we would happily stay here again.

We needed a getaway near Baltimore so we could visit some family and attractions. The location was easy to navigate to and is nestled in a historic village. We enjoyed the ambiance of the house and the host made sure we were comfortable. We highly recommend this stay to anyone who enjoys a unique and quiet getaway. We particularly enjoyed listening to the nearby waterfall from the upstairs balcony. The house was clean and stocked with necessities. We would love to return as we found many places in nearby Catonville that we would like to come back to someday soon. The host was great with communication and made us feel welcome.

The host was extremely friendly, meeting us inside and walking us through every aspect of the house. The home was charming, tidy, and full of lovely details. The beds were quite comfortable -- one bedroom is on the first floor and two others are upstairs. The host lives in an attached cabin, so was available to answer any questions or address any needs.

Upon arrival at the property, we were immediately struck by the vivacious energy of the garden. When we walked into the house, it was apparent the same love & care had extended into the home. The decor was wonderful to look at, and our entire experience was relaxing & rejuvenating. This was especially meaningful to us as we brought along 2 dogs (1 who is more vocal and reactive) and our concert tickets had cancelled as soon as we arrived from our travels. Mary was incredibly accommodating and thoughtful in showing us the house, providing recommendations, and reduced some of our own worries about our dog’s tendency to bark. Mary even laid out some pee-pads for our doggies! Mary was never far if we had any questions (lives in guest cottage that is connected to back of house), but we never felt a lack of privacy or intrusion. We would recommend this place to anyone coming to visit Baltimore, and will surely be back! :) We’d give the location especially a 14/10 if we could— Dickeyville is such a charming area and beautiful! Safety was never a concern. Even the neighbors were friendly! The pictures do not do the home justice, it’s gorgeous. Especially in the morning when the light fills the rooms— stunning!

Last thing first - I would recommend and would stay again. Had a nice weekend stay that was far superior to a hotel stay at a comparable cost. Our dog was welcomed, and the park and falls (can hear the falls from the upper patio, very nice) provided a great place to walk. 3 beds and two baths provided plenty of space, kitchen had pans and spices and olive oil, and gardens were wonderfully kept. Mary was a gracious host and answered our questions when we had them. The neighborhood is full of 100-200 year old stone houses with plenty of history, and a very friendly vibe to the area. Great stay!
