UNIQUE HISTORY OF THE HOUSE:
200-YEAR-OLD GRAND ROW HOUSE MANSION WITH 4 CAR PRIVATE PARKING SPACE :
The historic Cathedral Mansion of Mount Vernon, less than 1 mile from the Inner Harbor, Baltimore, was used as a set for House of Cards, some independent films, and a British reality TV show. It was featured in the Baltimore Business Journal as Built in 1847 to serve as a city residence for wealthy families who lived out of town, this five-story grand mansion was once owned by former Gilman School Headmaster Wardlaw Wardie Miles — who also just happened to be F. Scott Fitzgerald's English professor at Princeton.

This Row-house was built in the trendy Greek Revival style architecture of the Victorian Era with hand-carved wooden columns and 8-marble fireplaces by George Gaither, a well-known, 19th century merchant and a descendent of Benjamin Gaither of the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Although, Cathedral Home has been renovated, we have tried to preserve most of the original features of the house, original hardwood floors, plaster walls, marble fireplaces, plaster ceiling medallions, hand-crafted doors, French windows, and handrails.

Originally listed at $1.5 million, the house has a side in-law unit at entry level with 2 bedrooms (no stairs to climb) a kitchen, dining space, living/game room with a pool table, and bistro-style tables with sleek bar stools. The main wing decorated in Victorian theme is accessible from the side unit. A gorgeous foyer with Greek Revival architecture leads up to the attic 5 levels up. Each level showcases high 22 ft. ceilings in Victorian hallways illuminated by antique chandeliers and enhanced by modern recessed lighting. A state-of-the-art, 21st century, gallery-style kitchen with a massive, wrap-around balcony and a high skylight sits at the heart of the mansion. An impressive bronze eagle sculpture perches against the bright skylight. The house is decorated with antique art pieces, elegant furniture, and numerous magnificent, and antique wall mirrors positioned to reflect infinity and invite fun and formal photo shoots. Ninety percent of the floors are original 200-yrs-old Victorian era hardwood floors and uneven at some places.

The Attic Rooms 5 levels up are decorated in a fun, Bohemian style with vibrant colors. The 3 attic bedrooms have low-ceilings and no doors perhaps, not for everyone but there are enough rooms and beds to go around.

DISCLOSURE: We are a large row house in the middle of the city. You might hear city noise like traffic, sirens, people etc.

It's a very unique, gorgeous property that's very handy to mid-town locations. We got married in a nearby location and it was the perfect staging ground for various guests and decorations. The only real caution I would suggest to anyone wishing to stay there and fill it to it's maximum is that it is a highly vertical home, so whoever you will put on the upper rooms will have a lot of climbing to do if they be social with the rest of the house

Charming and spacious Victorian townhouse, with plenty of room for extended family was what we found in a lively, convenient location in downtown Baltimore. The home, while spectacular with high ceilings and marble fireplaces, was surprisingly comfortable. Everything was made easy by our hosts as we were quite busy with our daughter’s college graduation festivities. Would have loved to stay longer to cook in the amazing two-story kitchen or relax in the outdoor spaces. Maybe next time!

Our stay was great. No issues with anything until check out when one of the group accidentally locked his suitcase in the house and sadly the owner was over an hour away. Only recommendation would be to have an easier check in/out process With a digital lock or key somewhere at the property just in case the owner is over an hour away with no immediate solution. Again, outside of this we did not have any issues. Neighborhood is fine, but walk a couple blocks on either side and you could have a very different experience.

We were from a community theater representing the state of Florida at the Southeastern Theater Conference We enjoyed the house as we had large spaces to run lines, rehearse and just hang out together plus we won and will be performing in Iowa next.

I stayed here with my wedding party for my wedding weekend and it did not disappoint. The house was huge and very comfortably housed our group. The hosts were friendly and generously allowed us to complete an early check in so that we could get settled on the property before wedding festivities began! The setting is gorgeous and we took many of our wedding photos either inside the home or outside on the street - they turned out great. Overall, would recommend this property for any large group to spend time in Baltimore.

Oh my gosh! What an amazing find in Baltimore! This property is absolutely stunning! We booked this for our wedding party and it was beyond perfect for our friends and family. For those with an eye for photography, the decor, furniture, and natural lighting are a wedding photographer's dream! For those looking for a space that can offer a side unit, perhaps for a groom's parlor, look no further! For those with a love of old houses, what a charming find! The only note of caution is that you will get a workout going up and down several flights of stairs. (I promise it is worth it!) The hosts are very responsive and super thorough. You can trust that the property will be clean and ready for you!
