Where the Alentejo plains meet the hills, lies the small typical village of Relíquias with its whitewashed houses, surrounded by cork oaks, holm oaks, olive trees and eucalyptus forests. The church of Relíquias (Nossa Senhora de Assunção) was built in the sixteenth century and the village was born around.

With stunning views of the property our house is part of a century-old house made of taipa. At your disposal you have a house with two twin-bedded bedrooms, a living room with a sofa bed, a well equipped kitchenette, a bathroom and a large covered terrace. Outside we have a lot of space to play and relax. In the warm season you can enjoy our pool area, take a dip, sunbath or even a take a nap. We have a small children's playground, a trampoline, a small football pitch, volleyball/badminton net and a table tennis table. You can admire the fish in our small pond to the sound of cascading water, take a walk or bike ride to discover the village and its surroundings.

Within a radius of only 40 km you can find the beautiful beaches of the Alentejo, the dams Monte da Rocha and Santa Clara, the Mira River, the natural park Costa Vicentina and the small villages of Odemira, Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, and Zambujeira do Mar.

You can choose if you prefer to cook your meals in the kitchen pr on the grill. We have ice boxes, towels and parasols to lend. We can arrange transport from the Funcheira train station as well as Faro and Lisbon airports.

This nice annex (to the main house) was ideal for our family of four to wind down after 4 days in Lisbon. Marco & Charlotte were very welcoming and provided thoughtful little extras like tea bags, a few herbs etc and tea towels to make life easier, especially being nicely away from it all. The kitchen is very well equipped with utensils (though the dishwasher wasn't working when we visited - soon to be fixed !) and there is a washing machine in the village €4 a wash. Everything was spotlessly clean throughout with lovely crisp bed linen. The area may be less visited than others but Reliquias is a beautifully kept village with lots of smiling locals returning our greetings. You can buy bread and fish from visiting vans at good prices. Very well designed swimming pool, our grown up children played in it like little kids and dad was able to get the lengths in. A table tennis table, trampoline and football goals all available along with a short walk up to seats on the hillside opposite to watch the sunset. Recommend the Onda restaurant a 2 minute walk round the corner for really good value, simple but plentiful food, served with a lot of smiles and patience at our scrambled translations! (Meal for 4 with drinks and deserts for €60)

We had a wonderful family holiday at Charlotte and Marcos place. The location is super peaceful and the pool and garden are both really lovely. We enjoyed trips to the nearby beaches (35/40mins) and towns and a day trip to Lisbon (2 hour drive). Highly recommend this place it’s fantastic x

A true pearl in the deep Alentejo. The house is very well equipped. In addition to the welcome kit, basic items for cooking are available in the kitchen or on the barbequeue, allowing guests, who have just settled in, to start enjoying the facilities to the full. The house, the pool and all the surrounding spaces are pristine clean and maintained. The trees that surround the extra-sized swimming pool provide extra shades and a very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. Marco & Charlotte were exceptional, with great communication, always helpful and available for suggestions.

Charlotte & Marco are dream hosts, they set us off for a fantastic relaxing family holiday. The property is fully equipped and located in a little charming village in the interior of Alentejo. The grounds surrounding the house are beautiful, vast and offer a great deal of privacy. The pictures in the ad do not make justice to the true character and allure of this place, this was one of those rare occasions when you expect something nice and get some awesome instead. Definitely an experience to repeat.

We had the most relaxing stay here. Charlotte and Marco were so welcoming, kind and warm. It’s even more beautiful than in the pictures. The accommodation was clean and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. We had all the utensils needed to cook. The surrounding gardens are incredible. The pool was so clean and amazing. The pond is gorgeous and the hill walk was enjoyed multiple times by the whole family. You can see the love and work that Marco and Charlotte have invested here. We would truly love to return. Thank you again Charlotte and Marco for everything, Best wishes, Aisling, Dave and family

The pictures on this site don't do justice to the real beauty of this property. The rooms are comfortable and clean with everything that you and your family need. Comfortable beds and a great shower! The pool area is just stunning and diligently cleaned and maintained by Marco; it was fun for the children to be able to play badminton, football, jump on the trampoline or just walk up the stunning hill opposite the house. We were also lucky enough to see the beautiful snake in the pond (don't worry if you don't like snakes, he stays in the pond!) It's a real gem of a hideaway to relax in for a week or so and it is clear that Marco and Charlotte are keen to ensure that everything is perfect for their visitors. There are three cafes/restaurants in the immediate area and the supermarket is about 20 minutes away, but there's a smaller shop nearby for essentials. We really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed two nights. Charlotte and Marco are the most wonderfull hosts:-) Loved the house, the garden and pool. Had breakfast both days and dinner the first night which was great. Nice beds:-) Would love to come back and would recommend this place. If you have kids, lots of things to do, the garden, small playground and a great pool.
