House in Oberwesel center

We, as senior citizens, 80 & 76, had only one complaint, in that the stairs up to the bathroom and the bedroom were a little steep. Otherwise everything was just as one could have wished. Frau Strunk, the owner, did all that we asked plus a lot more. Would recommend staying there to all.

Our family stayed five nights and really enjoyed the surrounding area, the Rhine River towns and castles. The apartment is small and cozy, nestled inside the medieval walled city of Oberwesel. Just enough space for our family of four, with bedrooms upstairs being perfect so kids could go to bed on time and parents could stay up and watch a movie downstairs! We really appreciated the roomy kitchen because we prepared all our meals for this vacation. Next time I will bring my set of knives, though! :) The apartment was very clean and Martina was one of the nicest people I have met in Germany!

This older, small house is in the middle Rhine River area in Oberwesel which has all of the beauty and views but not the tourist crowds. The owner Martina is especially friendly and accommodating. Four adults or a family of 4 can enjoy this rental. Pros: location is just 1/2 block off main street with a bakery and some small restaurants and shops. Bike rental is also available on the main street. About a 10 minute walk from the train station. Washing machine works well and drying rack provided. Kitchen has all one could need. Mattresses in both the queen and bunk beds were average but sufficient. TV had 2 English speaking channels. Cons: Lidl and REWE grocery stores are located about 1 mile away since relocating. No air conditioning, ceiling or floor fans. Bathroom door is glass which cuts down on privacy. If windows are open, trains and town car noise is loud.

We had a very nice stay in Oberwesel, at this house just off the main street near the center of town. The first floor has a nice sized living room and kitchen, while the second floor has a small main bedroom with a queen bed, a second bedroom with bunk beds, and a full bath. There is also a landing area outside the bedrooms that is set up with a small crib, as well as a washing machine in the bathroom. Everything was clean and tidy. The house is right in the middle of town, and there was a wine festival going on during our visit, which was great fun. The town of Oberwesel is a great place to stay, with several very nice restaurants and wine pubs, coffee shops, bakeries, and stores. There is also a Rewe grocery store about 1/2 block from the apartment. The train station is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the house (though the train tracks are only about a block away), and from there you can easily reach any town in the Middle Rhine area in no more than 30 minutes. We found the owner to be very helpful, and we would stay there again.
