This 2 bed 2 bath home is the perfect getaway for a couples retreat or small family. Each bedroom has huge CA king beds with memory foam mattresses, plush linens and memory foam gel pillows. You won’t want to leave. The only thing you need to bring for yourself is flip flops to walk to the hot tub!
We personally love the screened in 2nd floor porch. Sitting out there and watching the sunrise, listening to the birds, and watching the deer walk by the yard is an amazing way to start any day. Enjoy some coffee on one of the chairs and just relax!

See the Blue Ridge Parkway, visit some of the local wineries, walk around quaint downtown Lexington, take a carriage ride! You can do as much or as little as you want out here. Whether you want to curl up with a good book or have an adventure, this is a place for either type of family vacation.

The home is situated near the end of a dead end paved road up in the mountains of Lexington, Virginia. If you want peace and quiet just follow the various creeks and rivers out of downtown to the quiet seclusion of Deer Ridge Manor. The drive through the countryside from downtown Lexington will relax you and take you back in time to a simpler and slower way of life. Wake up to birds, fall asleep under the stars. Leave the hustle and bustle of city life as you re adjust to the sounds of nature. Take your dog hiking too as we are dog friendly!

This is our personal home - we are a military family stationed away from the area right now. We aren’t some big corporation hosting random people - we love this area and this home - literally as our own. We put a lot of pride and effort into it - so know your stay helps out a military family too! We have several repeat families we host every year, do you want to be one as well

** Enjoy being out in the country but also close to several major attractions in the area!
** 23 miles to the closest Blue Ridge Parkway entrance
** 13 miles to VMI and Washington & Lee in Downtown Lexington
** 12 miles to Virginia Horse Park
** 18 miles to the VA Safari Park
** 21 miles to Natural Bridge State Park

The master bedroom is spacious with a California King memory foam mattress bed and full bathroom. The spare bedroom also boasts a California King memory foam mattress bed and lots of shelving with books to read. Our little lending library grows! We have a policy of bring a book and take a book, so if you want to be part of that fun please bring a book!

The home does have internet access, it is a DSL signal, so this will be potentially a connection lite stay. You may not be able to download entire video series out here, but with the natural beauty and peace you won't want to be staring at a screen. Zoom calls do work - and we have had guests work remotely from the home without an issue.

The property sits on 8 acres of woods, and is just around the corner from Lake Robertson, a large lake park with fishing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing. You are also only 20 minutes from Natural Bridge State Park and Caverns and the Virginia Safari Park. We back up to the George Washington National Forest, so we frequently get wildlife - most notably deer, turkeys, racoons, possum, tons of song birds, and the occasional black bear.

There is firewood on the property for the outdoor fire pit. Some guests find it easier to light fires if they bring some sort of dura-flame log or precut/treated kindling since the firewood on the property is untreated natural wood.
If you are looking for more things to do in Lexington while you are visiting please visit: https://lexingtonvirginia.com

There are a ton of great resources for dining, activities, events, and history information on that site. You will not be disappointed!

Please note we do not allow hunting, ATV's, dirt biking, smoking or shooting any firearms on the property. When walking around the property please realize that there may be plants and animals harmful to you, such as bears, deer, ticks, snakes, poison ivy, poison oak, etc. Do not eat any of the wild plants or remove/fall any of the trees on the property. This is a rural, wild place and we would like to keep it that way, so please do not leave food items and trash outside. It attracts animals and makes them dependent on human interaction, which in the case of a bear is lethal to them.
This property does not have municipal garbage service, so please take your trash to a collection center just down the road. The municipal trash collection area is open 7am to 6pm Monday through Saturday and 1pm to 6pm on Sundays. Do not leave trash outside the home. We do have wildlife that travel through the area and this property. You will likely see many while staying at this home.

This property is also on well water (filtered and water softener used) and a septic system, Please do not flush anything down the toilet except toilet paper. The property does not have a garbage disposal in the kitchen, so all food items must be put in the trash, not down the sink drain.

We ask you keep pets off the furniture. There are extra dog towels next to the front door to wipe off muddy feet and coats, in addition to bins to put your shoes when you come in. This helps keep the home cleaner and tidy for your stay. We would like to keep offering the home as pet friendly, so we ask that you monitor your pet at all times when in the home, and if they are going to be left alone they should be in a crate. Owners will be responsible for damages done to the home or belongings by their pets. We do have wire kennels available in the home for your use during your stay, along with some dog beds and bowls for food and water.

Please use the hot tub in moderation, for no more than 15 minutes at time and never above 103 degrees. Please ask your medical professional if hot tub use is advisable. Do not allow pets of any kind in the hot tub and do not add chemicals to the hot tub ever, as this is a salt water hot tub. Please place the cover back on the hot tub when not in use - make sure to snap the lid closed on the front - and when you check out make sure it is securely fastened.

If using the hot tub please unsnap the two buckles that secure the lid. Pick up the first half of the lid by the handle only and fold it over onto the other half. Then tip up the cover so it is now opposite to the controls and standing vertically. We have an easy open cover arm system installed which will do most of the work.

Please do not eat or drink in the hot tub or attempt to perform any maintenance on the tub. If you have any questions about it’s operation please reach out to us. Periodically you may hear it kick on as this is the motor circulating and maintaining the temperature. Do not leave the cover off the hot tub when not in use. Guests are responsible for any damages done to the hot tub.

Lastly - we ask you do not allow pets to pee on the side of the hot tub. We want to keep this a pet friendly property but if this happens we will change the property to not allow pets to preserve the hot tub and other aspects of the home.

There is a Ring camera system outside the home that shows only the exterior of the home including the driveway and the back of the home looking up the hill.

We do allow pets with a maximum of 2 dogs per reservation. Please keep dogs off furniture, include sofa, chairs, beds and outdoor balcony furniture. We would like to keep this home dog friendly and ask guests with dogs be respectful of the home and property to continue to allow this benefit to families who wish to travel with a pet. If there is evidence of a pet on a bed or furniture a deep cleaning fee will be charged. We have had problems with guests letting dogs on the beds and damaging the bed linens. We even had a dog pee on a mattress - causing us to replace the entire mattress and box springs underneath. We kindly ask that you bring appropriate bedding for you dog and they not be allowed in bed. We do not allow cats or birds in this home.

This property is in a rural area and not fenced in. If you are bringing dogs please make sure they will stick with you or walk them on a leash for their safety. The neighbors do have dogs which you can hear on occasion barking in the distance. Take extra care in walking the hilly trails on the property, some are on steep terrain.

We do have an inclined gravel driveway. It is approximately 300 feet long. Put your vehicle into low and head up the driveway slowly. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out. We will try out best to work around the weather and reschedule guests as needed due to weather concerns especially in the winter. We do not have EV car charging stations at the home, but do charge a $25 per day per vehicle fee if a guest would like to plug in their EV during their stay. Guests are required to bring all the required items to charge their vehicle such as extension cords, converters and batteries. We will send a request over at the day of check in, just let us know how many vehicles you will be charging.

We do not allow smoking of any kind inside the home. This is our personal home so we ask that you either do not book the home if you are a smoker or refrain from smoking while staying. An additional cleaning fee will be assessed to treat the home for smoke smell remediation and replacement of any soft surface items or filters that retain the smoke smell.

Wow, what a hidden gem!! It's a great location with many trees and an awesome place to unwind. The house is super clean and spacious. So easy to hang out in the kitchen that flows right into the family room. The outside 2nd floor large balcony was a great space to end the night. The king beds were so comfortable to get rejuvenated for the next morning. Alex, the host, was awesome to chat with. She was so responsive to any question we had. That made our stay so much more enjoyable. Can't wait to stay there again!!

This home was perfect for our multi-generational family. It was beautifully decorated with a modern farmhouse, lodge feel. It had everything we needed for our visit and was well stocked. The little extras were appreciated and had a good selection of coffees and hot chocolates. The beds and furniture were comfortable after a long day of exploring and we ended each day in the hot tub and with a fire in the fire pit. These were perfect additions. The home is situated in a serene area and we especially enjoyed the wildlife that visited often. I would love to return to your beautiful home, thank you for sharing it with us.

We did not use Hot Tub. There were 3 doggie beds, ( we call them climbs) in the basement, that was a great addition for our dog as she loves to hang out on them. Very pet friendly, very clean. Convenient to Lexington to see all the history in the town. The drive out to the house is awesome, very remote but we still felt very safe. Deer were everywhere. Big yard for the dog to play as well. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for two nights at Alex’s place, which is nicely secluded—exactly what we were looking for. We loved relaxing by the fire and taking in the peaceful surroundings. The home is about a 20-minute drive from downtown, and the drive is especially beautiful in the fall. We’d definitely love to come back again.

We had a great stay. Alex was easy to communicate with. There were some sweet treats left that our sons devoured. Everything was very clean. Hot tub was enjoyed by my husband and young adult son. It was a perfect relaxing spot for the family and VMI family weekend. It was only about 20-25 minutes away from the institution. It was also a great setup for our pups, we brought our own dog kennel and bowls, but they did have some for us to use if we hadn’t brought ours. We are hoping the place will be available for the next family weekend.

The house was very nice. The host offered lots of coffee, shampoo, hand soap, towels, and wash cloths and even detergent for the dish washer. The hot tub, showers, and beds were very clean. The WiFi offered did not work to be able to pull up the VRBO app to communicate with the host or to be able to play pandora. We loved our daily visits from the family of deer

Property is fine, it’s just very removed from town. We were staying to attend a wedding and it was a solid half hour on backroads each way back to the town of Lexington. I was under the impression it was closer. And you have to deal with your own trash, we were leaving in the early morning and the trash collection place didn’t open until 7:00 so we are hauling our bag of garbage 13 hours home. I’ve never been asked to take the trash at other rental properties, seems like something that could be handled by who ever cleans the property. Overall the property is fine.

This was an amazing little gem!!! The layout was nice - though it's not technically 3 bedrooms - there are 2 bedrooms with a door, and the couch arranges into a full sized bed. It is wonderfully secluded with forest views all around! Deer watching was a favorite activity, as was the amazing hot tub! Nicest and most roomy hot tub of all of our VRBO stays!!! The cover was super easy to remove and replace! The cabin is only minutes from Natural Bridge and Nat Bridge Zoo. You have to get the chicken salad from Natty B's!! Alex has thought of everything you need- from super soft throw blankets and big blankets to amazing towels, kitchen essentials, games....it was wonderful! I have already recommended it to multiple friends! I enjoyed things so much that I forgot to take cabin pictures! These are all I have.

We were in the area for a wedding in Buena Vista. When we travel with our family, we prefer a vrbo property over a hotel due to more privacy and space. The house was perfect for our toddler grandson. Since the doors have secure locks, we didn’t have to worry about him going down the stairs without our assistance. We loved making a fire and making smores in the firepit. I especially enjoyed the screened in porch for morning coffee and enjoyed listening to the many birds. It is a short drive to Lexington. I highly recommend this property and would stay here again.

We went during a time period where it happened to be extremely hot . We were very happy to just stay and relax in the house . Cold A/C, well equipped, lots of natural light and surroundings. There was a doe and 2 fawns who came regularly during our stay.* just a note; make sure you have everything you're going to need for your visit, or stop at the Kroger or Food Lion BEFORE you head out to the house. It is about 10 miles to the house from town and NO little stores anywhere out there.*

What a beautiful property! We had the most wonderful time! There are stairs to the living area both inside and out. The screened in balcony is so comfy! I loved reading a book in a cushioned rocker during an afternoon rain. Deer grazed in the yard all day, practically. I did scare them when i went out the exterior door and down the stairs, so they're wild and that was a treat! The hot tub is fabulous! I had to set a timer on my phone to ensure we didnt stay in too long because it was so nice! The kitchen had everything we needed! They had the best selection of teas and cocoas and the coffee was delicious. The mattresses are medium to firm. The shower head in the master bathroom was life changing! The master bath also has a skylight that we loved! The host was responsive and super helpful. We look forward to coming back! 5 Stars!

My wife and I went to the Lexington area to enjoy the local beauty, the City, winter hiking, and some other attractions. The owners were extremely communicative, and kept us updated about recent snows, road conditions, etc.We really enjoyed the well outfitted house along with the hot tub. They were great to come back to after being out for the day. The house is about 20 minutes from the local grocery store so that was convenient. The kitchen is well out fitted with appliances, cookware, and dishes. There is seating at a central high top table in the kitchen.I can't say enough about the owner's responsiveness to questions. They even gave us heads up on incoming snow so we were able to take that into account when we left.If you are visiting in the winter, you will need a 4WD, snow tires, and/or snow chains to get up the gravel drive if it can't be plowed. It's not a negative. You just need to know.Added extra bonus. We had deer visit a few days, and there was evidence black beer crossed the property at some point after the last snow.Great property. Great local. Easy accessibility to sites and outdoor activities in the area.

The property was totally as advertised, with all the amenities listed. The hot tub is a great add-on and the outdoor firepit is perfect if it's not too hot. It's great for roasting hot dogs and/or s'mores. There were plenty of pots, pans and utensils to do just about any type of cooking you want . . . even a nice griddle. Alex, the host was incredibly communicative throughout the visit and very thoughtful and helpful in quickly resolving any issue or question I had. If you want a really quiet, remote getaway, this is it. With that, however, you're about 25 minutes from town, including groceries, supplies, gas . . . etc. Not a big deal, but just plan for it. It's close to Natural Bridge State Park and hiking at that Park or even along the Maury River is quiet and enjoyable. There are several wineries close (within 25 minutes) that also offer a different vibe than might normally expect with a trip/venue like this.

The property is simple, but has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The host is very responsive to address any questions. Very quiet and private.

We were seeking a much needed quiet weekend getaway and this property fit the bill and then some! The house was immaculate and well appointed. The host communicated well and offered suggestions of things to do in the area. We will be returning!
