The Rimu House, named after the beautiful wood it is made of, is a very comfortable home with a view. A fully equipped kitchen, and open plan style living room opens out onto a large deck putting you amongst the surrounding native virgin forest and offers spectacular views of the Tasman Sea, which is a stones throw away. A perfect spot to watch the local Hector dolphins which are often seen playing in the waves. A wood-burning fireplace provides warmth and ambience.

Stayed Mar 12, 2025A lovely place to stay with a group. You could hear the waves at night and the overly friendly wekas meant you had to be careful not to leave doors open. The whole campground was well maintained and the Cow Shed cafe a delight.

Stayed Jan 11, 2025What a fantastic place to stay. The house has rustic charm and everything you need. It felt like a real kiwi holiday in a magical spot. The beach is right there. Great surf casting, lots of snapper and gurnard caught. Beautiful sunsets. The maze is a must to do, the views up there are spectacular.

Stayed Jul 16, 2024We loved the location, house and area. The forests and beach was amazing. We struggled a bit with the beds as they weren't that comfy and we would have loved a hotter fire as it took a bit to warm the place and our other suggestion would be to get some nice low light lamps in the bedrooms but other than that it is a lovely place and we would definitely go back again.

Stayed Dec 19, 2023Great location and good for the soul. We had a great two days here. Good walking options along the beach to views and coffee. Bonfire was the highlight. Need to advertise correct bedding options as it does not sleep 12 which we booked for.

Stayed Nov 3, 2023Rimu house is an amazing property. Nestled into the bush with outstanding sea and coastal views and a large decking for outdoor entertainment,it’s got it all. The Gentle Annie is a fabulous place and we highly recommend it.

Stayed Oct 12, 2023Awesome spot on the coats to get away from the hustle & bustle. Great location 2 mins from the Mokihinui river mouth. House has the the rustic charm of a log cabin. No internet/ poor phone coverage forces you to disconnect from the world which is what we all need to do occasionally!
