When I found this charming old home located on the rocky beach surrounded by beautiful homes it was the perfect getaway with old friends.. The ratings showed good with concerns of cleanliness being bad. I had reached out weeks prior before my arrival with concerns. I was assured a few times that this would not be an issue... Just before check-in I received a text with instructions to get in also to give feedback on the cleanliness of the home.. We arrived late at night surrounded by beautiful homes and ours with old world charm.. until we opened the door.. I have rented several homes thru Vrbo over many years with each one more amazing than what was described online. This one fell extremely short in the most crucial part of renting a home which we all know is being clean! Where do I begin? Dirt along edges of floors, rugs torn and stained, carpet going up the stairs so dirty I cant even described! Blankets pulled from closets dirty, furniture cushions so worn and stained, Windows in the sunroom so dirty I cant even fully describe.. grime along the shower and moldings. The wood foors were beautiful but left dirty! There was just junk crammed in corners, drawers of the kitchen.. just everywhere! Drapes that have never seen a washer.. outside had a garbage can so full of dog poop it was gaggy! I cant even describe what we saw! I was embarrassed because I booked! I ask for the owners to call/text me Vrbo told me they would pass it on still no word. Bad on Vrbo allowing this..

The view is amazing and the house charming and full of history, although it could use some updates. The listing described a beach nearby but there was none. The management company is very responsive and the arrival and departure Process was very easy & professional.

The house is old in a quaint way, and the location is incomparable with an amazing view of the ocean and rocks to explore. The problem is that the house and furnishings are extremely dirty and showing wear and tear. It needs a new furnishings, a deep clean, and some improvements, even if a major overhaul is not done.

Written without prejudicewas a filthy dirty residence. We begged Vacasa to relocate us. VRBO should never have rated this as exceptional. We have 50 pictures videos as documentation. We had to leave after one night and are seeking a full refund. You will be advised of next steps.

Watching the sunrise from the dining room or sunroom sipping your coffee was an awesome breathtaking experience. We were in town for a family wedding and truly appreciated finding a home that accommodated a large group , plenty of seating … we were able to all sit in the dining room and even made a puzzle during our stay. We enjoyed the character of this older home .

The house is roomy, well stocked, has plenty of seating for dinners and get togethers. The three and a half bathrooms are a plus! . But that view of the ocean! That makes everything else seem pale in comparison. You literally walk out of the back door and see the most spectacular site! Rocky beach and ocean just right there. The owner is gracious and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

We all absolutely loved this home. It was the coziest place we have ever stayed. And the location and view were unbelievable, being right on the coast. We read the reviews ahead of time and knew it was an older home, which added to the charm for us. Would definitely stay here again.

A long family weekend with the kids, grandkids and dogs. This is a big, old, house with plenty of room for everyone. The sun porch was a great gathering and craft area for everyone. Right on the ocean with direct access. The kids had plenty of places to explore. If you are looking for a new shiny house, look somewhere else This place has a lot of age, wear and tear. The internet does not work and has been reported before. Several people that had to work remote were not happy about it

Just finished 3 night stay with 5 old golfing friends. This stunning fully equipped and spacious house is surpassed only by its setting. Step out the back enclosed porch, cross the lawn and take a seat on the granite wall. Rockport’s Twin Lights to the right, coast of Maine to the left and the Azores straight ahead beyond the ceasing surf

Previous reviews, positive and negative, were both pretty accurate to our experience. Overall, we had a great stay. I do not think we would return, though. The good: fantastic location, gorgeous yard, lots of space, beds were comfortable, the house had clearly been recently superficially cleaned (carpets vacuumed, stove cleaned). The bed linen and towels were all pristine. The bad: as others state, the house is old and worn; wallpaper is peeling, there are water stains on ceilings, etc. We expected this and found it mostly charming. But we were uncomfortable with non-superficial lack of cleanliness in the setting of having kids there-- there were huge cobwebs/dust bunnies in every (nonworking, open) fireplace, years-old bags of white powder (pesticides?) on bookcases, visible mold on more than half of the couch cushions. Overall I would just read the reviews and know yourself-- if you are non-fussy adults, this place will probably be amazing for you. The location can't be beat and it's highly functional. But if you like clean spaces and/or have kids who like to play/explore all of the corners, you should skip it. I don't think we would book this again unless we were prepared to start the vacation by doing some cleaning/prep ourselves, bring clean throw blankets to put over the couches, etc.

We had a great week, the yard, beach and ocean are amazing. The sunroom, with the exception of at least one broken chair, is a lovely place to sit and take in the view. I was there with my 3 20-something year old kids so the outdated decor wasn’t totally off-putting but the house could use some TLC: wallpaper peeling, old chairs, old fridge. We were surprised to find that the ocean-front, beachfront house had no access to a swimming beach. That should be posted clearly in the rental information. WiFi needs to be upgraded. All of that to say, we were close enough to drive into Rockport and Gloucester and we took some nice walks. Quiet neighborhood, very private. Vacasa staff was very helpful when we ran out of propane. They brought us a new tank the next day and cleaned the grill. Very helpful!

Lots of charm and the family loved it. You can’t beat the view! But the house itself and all of the furnishings are completely outdated and in need of a major upgrade. Floors are so slanted it’s disorienting. But it’s full of charm and worked for us for a weekend family wedding. I’d pick a different house that has been modernized next time.

We loved the feel of the house. Felt like we were visiting a family beach home. The view was amazing and the sun room was a great place to hang out. The neighborhood was lovely and the kids enjoyed the nearby mountain biking trails. Would definitely return!
