Also in close walking distance is the Mission Nombre de Dios with The Great Cross, and numerous Uptown boutique, antique, and coffee shops. A one mile walk will take you to the Castillo de San Marcos, the riverfront, and famous St. George Street with numerous spectacular restaurants. When you are ready to enjoy some sun and surf, rent some bikes and take a 1.5 mile ride over the Vilano bridge to the beach and the quaint beach-side town of Vilano Beach.

A rear patio welcomes you into the Grand Hall of Pillar's Castle, with the kitchen, den, dining room, laundry room, bathroom, plus powder room located on the first floor. The large St. Augustine Surf bedroom is located off the kitchen area and up several steps and near the bathroom. This place is really cool. Plenty of space. We had 3 couples and we each had our own space. One couple didn't like stairs so they got the bedroom and bath off the kitchen. The 2 other couples had rooms upstairs. And my nephew stopped and he was able to stay over in the 3rd floor bedroom. I was concerned about the air conditioning in a place so big but no problem. It was quite comfortable and we could set our own in the bedrooms. Most nights, we played pool which was a lot of fun and there is a ton of games there to play. Of course that was after being out in town during the day. The location was perfect. I like to walk so I walked to town but it is about a mile. There was plenty of space for parking but the driveway is very narrow. We thought it was a walkway at first. My only complaint would be that we had an issue trying to use the tickets that come with the booking. We contacted the host but we were not able to get it worked out. We opted to just pay for the ticket versus spending anymore time trying to get the free ticket. Overall, we had a great stay. Hope others enjoy it as much as we did.

We all enjoyed the visit to the pillar castle home and would recommend it to others to use as a vacation spot. One thing we were looking forward to was the 300 dollars in tickets as promised to use along with the vacation but we never received them and we tried to find out why they were not available, but no explanation given to it.That was the only concern we had about the overall experience we missed out on.

This is similar to staying in small castle with nooks and crannies to explore. The configuration is sometimes confusing but it's a very old home and I am sure it has been altered since it was built. The kitchen is adequately appointed with sufficient utensils, flat ware and dishes. From a space perspective, it is excellent. There is enough space to be solo or gather together within the house. Having the piano is a perk when you have someone (or two!) in your party who plays. The one big issue and reason I rated it a 4 is the master bedroom carpet. It needs to be replaced sooner rather than later to make this a 5. Overall it's a charming property that is perfect for vacation stays.

It was the perfect stay for 4 couples. Everyone had their own private area because of the unique layout. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need. Only thing I would suggest is to bring a fan if you are used to a cooler house. We were able to walk to several attractions (Old Town Trolley tours attraction #1) Vilano beach access with bathrooms was 5 minute drive. Very centrally located. Had a great time and would definitely book again.

Easy access to all the sites in St Augustine by walking or bike. Interesting history of this property.

House was beautiful and spacious! We were 3 families staying together, and we each had our own rooms and bathrooms while also having great shared spaces. It is dated, but I think that’s part of the charm. The location was right next to 2 trolley stops, so it was easy to hop on those to get into town. The walk into town was also easily doable (20-25 mins).

Welcoming host and all around fantastic property that helped celebrate my Dad’s 80th birthday in a grand way. The kitchen was exceptionally stocked. My toddler had a great time with the toy castle, blocks and puzzle. The only trickiness was with the driveway and patio that created bit of a safety hazard but we just made sure we were extra careful.

Excellent property. Really beautiful and unique home. The whole place was so clean. The property had everything we needed for our group of eight. Plenty of room for us to sleep, gather, and shower to get ready for our adventures in St Augustine. Excellent location. We walked everywhere. Coffee shops within half a mile or less. Easy and gorgeous walking distance to the Fountain of Youth. Just a little over a mile to St George ST and plenty of shops and food to stop at along the way. The host was amazing and so receptive to messages. We could not have found a more perfect place to stay for our annual girls' trip.

We enjoyed our stay at this spacious home. Clean and well stocked with towels and everything you might need in the kitchen. There are also fluffy robes in each bedroom for use. Bathrooms are very clean and roomy. We enjoyed some of the board games and the pool table and a photo shoot using the throne chair. Just be aware-no bedrooms are accessible without climbing some stairs. Location is great-close to everything. Used an Uber to the Cathedral one night and it was 15 for an XL (Had 5 people) I would definitely recommend this property as long as stairs are not a problem for you.

We enjoyed our stay at Pillar's Castle. It ended up being the central point for all of our activities revolving around our son's wedding at the Fountain of Youth which was actually within walking distance. Spacious kitchen and dining table was very convenient. The spacing of the bedrooms and two large rooms downstairs to hang in made it comfortable for privacy and ability to move around at any hour without bothering others. It was very clean, and beds were very comfortable.

We have never seen a more a more thoughtfully and thoroughly appointed kitchen and bar area, which were greatly appreciated for our event (especially the additional full-sized and dorm fridges!) The rooms and bathrooms were gorgeous and the living spaces so luxurious! We loved the spacious driveway area and the beautiful little courtyard. Loved our trip to St. Augustine and the great stay at Pillar's Castle. The property is truly amazing and a wonderful look into the history of the castle and St. Augustine. I can't say enough about the wonderful bedroom suites, the art and decor of this fabulous site. The updates to the kitchens and kitchenettes are wonderful and the location is great. Though this place is perfect for weddings and anniversary events, it is as we found a great place to just enjoy good friends for a few days in St. Augustine.
