Historic Home on Sullivan’s Island • Across from Beach Path

This was a great location, with easy access to the beach, and only a short walk or ride to the center of the island. The host was very communicative, especially related to an unexpected internet outage, and she made every effort to rectify that during our stay. The home and rooms were comfortable and had very much the quaint Sullivan's cottage feel, which is just what we wanted. The crow's nest was a fantastic spot to sit at night and look at the stars. The only thing that came as a surprise was that although the listing stated the rental was for the entire home, we didn't realize upon booking that there is a unit downstairs as well. However, since the downstairs resident lives there full time, it was really helpful when we ran into a minor snag at check-in. All in all, a comfortable stay in a great spot, and we really enjoyed our trip!

I had the highest hopes for this affordable, rustic home situated within walking distance to the beach. The property owner describes the house as being rustic but it is barely in living condition. The home smells of mold and is musty. I am not sure any of the furniture or mattresses have been replaced since it was built over fifty years ago. I have seen comments that the furniture needed replacement but further it feels unsanitary to sit on. Most of it is worn out, faded and dirty. The main bathroom is in terrible shape- peeled paint, old fixtures and dingy in general- we didn’t even feel comfortable using it. I arrived three days late to my rental because my dog had emergency surgery delaying my trip- I arrived at 11pm and didn’t want to even stay the night, once I arrived and saw the condition of it. My child didn’t want to go inside because he thought it looked haunted from the outside due to lack of maintenance- both yard and exterior. I don’t think this house should be on any sort of rental site. I only spent two nights in this house- one because I arrived so late and the other because I came down with food poisoning and literally couldn’t drive home. I never leave bad reviews but I honestly felt guilty that I brought my family to this home for “vacation”.

SoClose to the beautiful beaches and easy to get to town. The house was clean and had everything we needed along with a great response time from the owners! Our family of 6 was quite comfortable!!

Very old home in need of repairs. Found bugs in kitchen and there was no washer/dryer as mentioned in the listing. The location was great- quick walk to the boardwalk and beach. Kitchen was very well stocked.

First of all, if I could give SIX STARS for location and responsiveness of host I certainly would! This house was actually perfect for my siblings who came to visit me (I live just over the SI bridge in Mt Pleasant) from all over the country. The beach is literally across the street, the neighborhood super quiet, the downstairs guests so very nice, and I understand Rachel was very responsive with my sister who contacted her separately. The beds and furnishings were cozy and comfy and old...like you are staying at your eccentric grandma's place at the beach. But it badly needs some TLC and a deep clean and a paint job and potentially some mold remediation. My BIL has asthma and the mold was really a problem for him. Take care of that and you'd get 5 stars all the way around and I would book you again in a heartbeat! Thanks for a lovely stay--and I hate to even bring the issues up here but for those with breathing issues it can really be dangerous! xxoo

This historical Sullivan's beach house is simply WONDERFUL! We had a family reunion with young and old and the house was PERFECT! It is right across from the beach path, bike ride to the town and filled with amenities like washer/dryer, complete kitchen, beach chairs and it is absolutely adorable to boot! Our kids loved putting their kids to bed and then enjoying the rooftop deck!! The host is also fabulous! She is quick to respond, answers all your questions and accommodates specific requests when possible. We had friends visit and they can't wait to use this very special home as well! We couldn't have asked for more!!!! (I would also add that it would be charming for a romantic get-away for a couple too!! :))
