Historic District - RETRO-LICIOUS SUNSHINE STATE DECOR - Stunning 1920s Bungalow!

BEAUTIFULLY RENOVATED 3BR CLASSIC 1920S HISTORIC BUNGALOW - WALK TO ALL SITES! JUST ONE BLOCK TO THE SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS OF THE HISTORIC DISTRICT. PRIVATE OFF-STREET PARKING FOR TWO CARS! LOVELY STROLL TO DOWNTOWN HISTORIC DISTRICT, RIPLEY'S, ST. GEORGE STREET, AND MORE. UPSCALE AMENITIES INCLUDE TOUCH-SCREEN COMPUTER, TWO TVs, HUGE COVERED DECK FOR OUTDOOR DINING, GAS GRILLE, WASHER/DRYER, ADDITIONAL ENCLOSED SHOWER OFF BACK DECK, PRIVACY FENCE AROUND ENTIRE REAR YARD, SERTA FOAM-GEL MATTRESSES AND PILLOWS. COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE MAKE A MEMORABLE TRIP!

This stunning, fully renovated and updated 1920s classic bungalow - The Conch Bungalow - captures the allure of the Sunshine State with bold, bright colors and pre-Disney roadside “kitsch” and souvenirs throughout. Upscale, modern furnishings are mixed with vintage tropical pieces, creating a comfortable retreat that your group will remember fondly, as much as you will the City’s many historic sites. Authenticity abounds at this relaxing home, with decorative touches throughout - 1940s satin Florida souvenir pillowcases showcasing long-forgotten tourist sites, old wooden fruit crates, oars and water skis on the walls, and amazing curio cabinets filled with vintage memorabilia, all perfectly blended with tropical rattan and bamboo furnishings, upholstered in cheerful patterns of retro-style bark cloth fabrics.

Leave your car behind while staying at this prime vacation location! There’s plenty of parking for two vehicles, leaving you more time for exploring and no wasted minutes (or money!) searching for an inconvenient parking space. Aside from day trips to the nearby beaches just over the famous Bridge of Lions, almost all our Guests NEVER use their car once parked at the house!

Situated on a quiet street and surrounded by houses built between the 1860s and 1930s, The Conch Bungalow is located just off San Marco Avenue, the main boutique/ restaurant street, with eclectic shops just a block away from the home's front door. The house is only a few minutes’ stroll to the City's vibrant downtown destinations: the famous Castillo de San Marco Fort, the Mission Nombre De Dios, Ripley’s-Believe-It-Or-Not, the Old Jail, Fountain of Youth, Lightner Museum, Flagler College, and other popular sites, plus many restaurants and small “locally owned” shops.

Fully equipped with amenities galore for your comfort and privacy, the house has three private bedrooms (two queen and one full – with Cool Gel/Foam Technology Serta Hybrid mattresses), all decorated in a vintage “Floridiana” style; bathroom with extra-deep soak tub and shower, with two separate sinks; an outdoors enclosed big, beach boardwalk-like outdoor hot/cold shower with bench; and an 8-foot-high privacy fence surrounding the yard. With a comfortable living room, dining room, and den, your group will have ample areas to spread out indoors, or enjoy a cocktail hour out back on the rear deck, sheltered from the sun or rain by a large pergola, and equipped with a propane-charcoal grill. The classic bungalow front porch is a peaceful place for morning coffee or an afternoon book. Spend an evening at “home” enjoying the many books on old Florida, or watching the house copy of John Sayles' Florida flick “Sunshine State.”

Preservation was a priority when restoring the house to the original character of the 1920s and Guests will notice top-of-the-line architectural details, including bungalow window moldings and tinted glass door handles, creating a look that exudes old Florida charm, while offering modern conveniences. Amenities include a touch-screen computer, WiFi, DVD, CD stereo, two flat screen televisions, cable TV, Samsung washer/dryer, stainless appliances, thick bath and beach towels, comfortable linens, a fully equipped kitchen, AND a smoke free environment. Absolutely no animals are permitted on the property (aside from the occasional Blue Jay or squirrel who might play in the yard), making it a more comfortable environment for Guests with allergies to dogs, cats or other critters. A note about our beds: Guests rave about them, telling us amusing stories about copying down the manufacturer label so they can research for their own home. And our pillows are just as great!

Picture-perfect, private and comfortable, The Conch Bungalow is situated within the historic district, for a quick walk to the City’s most popular sites, and just a few minutes’ drive to St. Augustine or Villano Beach. The Conch Bungalow is a unique complement to your St. Augustine vacation. You are invited to experience the BEST in authentic Florida décor and ambiance that the Old City offers!

The Conch Bungalow was awarded the Certificate of Improvement for revitalization by the City of St. Augustine's City Commission and Mayor. The Mayor’s letter accompanying the Certificate states “The efforts you have made during the course of the restoration and renovation of the property have definitely made a positive contribution to the Uptown Neighborhood and to St. Augustine. We appreciate your investment of time, money and talent.”

Home very comfortable with outside patio/porch areas that enhanced visit. Fairly close to historic district. Only pitfalls is its located a block form US1 which can be noisy and the next door McDonald's dumpster is within reach almost of their lot line. The early morning trash truck was an annoyance. But the owners have erected an attractive privacy fence which helps to block out unsightly areas and noise factor.

Beautiful little place with lots of local memorabilia of Florida. Only about a 10 min walk to historic downtown, 2 mins from the best pizza place in town and a stones throw from McDonalds if that’s your thang! I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely! The bungalow was as advertised and awesome! Super cute and clean and comfy. It was awesome that restaurants are in walking distance, and a big plus is that you can walk to downtown and avoid the heavy traffic. The hosts were amazing and very communicative, you can tell they want their guests to have a great stay. Top stars all around. :)

The Bungalow was wonderful. Clean with fun decor and all the amenities. And the location is ideal. Just a short walk to uptown with shops, restaurants, and countless historic attractions,But as much as we loved the house, it's the hosts that really made it such an amazing experience. They went out of their way to help us clear up a miscommunication and literally saved our vacation. Wonderful people that cared more about 'us' then renting their place and my family is grateful for their kindness and patience. Thank you so much A & S!

My grandchildren (ages 11 and 17) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Conch Bungalow recently. The location was so convenient for walking to the historic district, fort, shops and wonderful restaurants. The bungalow itself was comfortable, charming with it's old Florida decor, clean and well appointed -- lacking for nothing! It was evident the owners take great pride in ownership of their property. We would certainly rebook if we have the opportunity to return.

This quaint little cottage was actually spacious and comfortable! The cleanliness ranks at the top. Comfortability of the beds and pillows top notch. Usually that’s the first complaint from my husband, but it was never a complaint here. Close enough to everything, yet out of the hustle and bustle of the excitement. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun getaway in the historic district.

Wonderful location, very easy to bike or walk to majority of the attractions in the area. Easy walking distance to several shops and restaurants. Rooms were well appointed, even with just one bath I think a few couples could easily fit comfortably. We had everything we need. There was a small leak when we were there so a plumber had to access the washer/dryer area which did not disrupt us at all, but the host was very communicative and even let us have a very late check out the last day basically giving us a whole extra day of our vacation.

Amazing Bungalow in the perfect location, with downtown just a few blocks away. This house has all the amenities you can think of, including fans and sound machines for each room. Very comfortable, and the decor is unmatched. The owners must have spent a lot of time sourcing the furniture, etc. This is the quintessential mid-century modern Florida bungalow. The bungalow was fantastic. Even better than it looked online. Comfy beds and useable outdoor spaces made for a great place to wind up or down. The outdoor shower is all we used. Iykyk. Exactly what you need to wake up in the morning!Annette was so welcoming and helpful, had all of the info and made it fairly easy for a new to vrbo user. Check-in and out was a breeze and really couldn’t have been any less eventful…. Location is primo. Walk to the history in about 10 minutes. There is a great 5star pizza, joint and scratch made kitchen and coffee place within a 2 minute walk. WE! Highly recommend both Bronx pizza and Farmhand Kitchen and coffee. Oh and go grab a forgotten tonic…. You’ll be happy you did. @forgottentonic

This charming, well-appointed bungalow is furnished in Florida mid-century style and features display cases showcasing interesting memorabilia from Florida's past. Everything in the house is as promised--3 bedrooms, living room with side area with computer, and kitchen that had everything we needed, including plenty of Keurig coffee. The 2 bedrooms we used had excellent mattresses and fun Florida decor. Even the bathroom was cool! The house is about a 5-10 minute walk to the Visitor Center and the beginning of the pedestrian walk (St. George Street) through the old town. We were able to easily walk to all the museums, houses, restaurants and shops in the old town. The owner was responsive to inquiries, very accommodating, and helpful.

Booked this cozy cottage for a girls weekend. It had everything we needed and was tastefully decorated. Prior reviews were right - the noise coming from the McDonalds next door was quite loud and all night, but the provided sound machines fixed that. It’s a short walk to several restaurants and walking to downtown area is doable for able bodies. Host was very responsive!
