Reviewer Comments: We weren't sure what to expect when we booked Buzzard Roost during a recent trip to Tusacaloosa for a football game. We could not have been more delighted with the character, charm, and natural beauty of this little cabin on the water. Our kids enjoyed the bunkroom, fire pit, and kayaking on the lake. I loved the screened porch with cozy daybed. We found the house well stocked with coffee, pots, pans, dishes and cups. Book your stay here! You won't be disappointed.

Stayed May 18, 2025This property was tucked away on a wildlife preserve. Very quiet area with a lot of wildlife for observation. The house itself was very old (historic) but well kept. It had all the things you need to enjoy your stay without sacrifice. The property had everything you needed there already, I mean everything! We could have just pack clothing and traveled a lot lighter. A short walk to the pier offered fishing, swimming and kayaking. The surrounding area had everything needed. Shopping, dining and grocery stores were all within a twenty minute drive. With a slightly longer drive you could enjoy a number of beautiful lakes along with hiking trails. We had not one issue accommodating the dog in our everyday activities. We happened to arrive at the property just after a pretty devastating storm passed through. The host and owner (who lives nearby) were extremely accommodating in our every need during our stay. They truly went above and beyond any other property we have visited.

Stayed May 4, 2023Petite, very rustic cabin on lake. All the amenities you would need for a nice stay with touches of U of A charm in the woods. Liked the dock, fully stocked kitchen, soft towels and responsive management team.
