Stunningly situated on the shores of Fisherman Bay, this waterfront home on Lopez Island is a place to take in gorgeous views of nightly sunsets over San Juan Island, the Haro Strait, and the islands of British Columbia beyond.
This bayfront home is a piece of Lopez Island history, named for the man who built it in 1974. Captain Leonard Davis was one of the foremost maritime navigation pilots in Puget Sound and a member of a family of early settlers on the island. He chose this spot as the site of his retirement for the lovely weather, winds, tides, and view of the ferries coming and going from Friday Harbor.
Inside, you'll find this view showcased in nearly every room, allowing you to watch the tides ebb and flow and observe bald eagles and otters passing through. The central living space is upstairs, including a living room with a wood-burning fireplace and a TV, an adjacent dining room for eight that's warmed by the backside of the fireplace, and an eat-in kitchen with every essential. There's a second large living room downstairs - a wonderful spot to curl up by the fire and settle in for a night of board games.
The outdoor spaces are equally inviting, including a small balcony overlooking the bay, a patio that runs the length of the house, and a spacious backyard with a nature path to explore. Take a scenic stroll down to the spit at sunset and cap the evening with marshmallows and stories around the firepit.

Stayed here five days. Great place! Great views!
We loved the location of the house with a lovely view of the bay. A front deck for stargazing at night. Easy to get to town and to different parks around the island for hiking.
This house was one the most perfect house for us. Huge, comfortable, homey and the VIEW! Listening to the birds every morning and evening was a highlight. We loved cooking and biking all over. Truly one of our favorites.
Delightful home with beautiful views. Everything we needed was provided. It has a lot of space, was very clean and comfortable
We had a wonderful stay in this perfect location in Lopez. Beautiful view overlooking the bay, we watched the seals playing each dayabd enjoyed the sunse. The three bathrooms and all the beds were perfect for our family of 6.
It was walking distance to our local family so quite handy.
We really loved this house, it was perfect for our group of 6 adults and a dog. We had plenty of space and everything we needed for kitchen and bathroom supplies. Easy check in and the house was very clean when we arrived. The big backyard was great just bring a tie-up for the dog because it isn’t fully fenced. The house never felt crowded and the fact that it has 3 bathrooms helped with that. The house did have an outdoor gas grill during our stay.
Davis House was great for our 3 day visit from Seattle. It is roomy and comfortable as well as well equipped. You can't beat to views west over the bay and sunsets. The kitchen sink even has a great view! The location is convenient to the Village and kayak and bike rentals. We felt very lucky to get it in mid July with somewhat short notice. Only negative is that it is an older home and starting to show some age and wear. Removing the wall to wall and replacing with flooring like in the kitchen would help. But, overall, we are so happy we found it.
This house has incredible views and nicely situated near the village. We had a nice time on Lopez and this was a great place to all stay as a family.
The house smelt terrible. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. We did not have TV during the entire stay. We tried to get help but no one came out to fix the problem. We enjoy watching TV at night just to relax. Such a disappointing experience with Vacasa.
My partner and I, and two adult children came here for a belated Thankgiving, choosing this dog friendly house for the view and amenities. No disappointment in the 70's vibe or the view! Beds were comfortable. Agree with a previous commenter on the addition of a smart tv, and would add a refresh of the kitchen cookware. A grill would be a nice addition, in this house so very suitable for larger groups. Frustrating though to read recent reviews regarding the heat issue and to see that our complaint of the same was already well known. We arrived in the early evening on a sub freezing day to find the power out to the kitchen and dining areas (corrected by a flip of the breaker, which we had access to only after contacting the property manager). The inside house temp was no more than 50 degrees as all of the heaters had been turned off - individual baseboard heaters and thermostats in every room which would have been a quirk worth understanding. The baseboards in the kitchen and dining areas (our main desired gathering place) as well as the basement game room area were not functional until day 3 when a maintenance person literally wiggled a loose wire in the dining room unit back into place. My welcome letter stated that firewood would be provided - it was not - and we payed for multiple bundles of the high priced firewood from the store. The Davis House is not at all a bad spot, but shouldn't be available for rent until the heat issue is addressed.
This place was super convenient. But the heat in the house didn’t really work. We were able to use the fireplace and a commercial heater so worked out kind of OK. This wouldn’t have worked at all if all the rooms had been occupied. Really love the view though.
Clean and well kept older home. But the old baseboard heaters don’t work well. The heat in the dining and kitchen area would not turn on. We had to close off that area to keep rest of home warm. We didn’t call manager because we were mostly gone anyway during day. Also, 2 old TVs in home don’t have any connection or DVD player. Also Would recommend the owner invest about $200-$399 for a at least one “smart tv” so guests can at least stream from their own Netflix etc. since there is WiFi.
This home is in nice shape but looks and feels like you've gone back in time 50-60 years. We were there during a cold snap and couldn't quite get warm enough - some of the baseboard heaters didn't work, and the fireplace had a unique ventilation setup that we didn't quite figure out. The property management company brought us a portable heater (some assembly required) and that helped. Otherwise we enjoyed the spacious kitchen/dining area with a beautiful view. I saw lots of wildlife including a bald eagle, deer, kingfisher, and seals.
It was relaxing low paced very scenic biked and hiked, but fishing is my main interest sad to say all fishing was shut down I will go to British Columbia to avoid that disappointment again.
This is one of the best vacation rental homes we've ever stayed at. Amazing views all day long over the jewel of Lopez Island — Fisherman Bay. Sit and watch the sailboats and seaplanes and seals and eagles fo by all day long. Davis House is very tidy and clean and equipped with everything we needed for a great vacation. Lots of space for everyone: two living rooms, three fireplaces, dining room, board games, outdoor tables and chairs, three hammocks, and a little wooded area with trails, too! Bedrooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. Bedrooms have blackout curtains for sleeping in. Full size clothes washer and dryer, too. Kitchen is well stocked with all of the essentials. Perfect location for exploring the islands many offerings: biking, kayaking, hiking, and more. Just a short walk to Bayshore Road for lovely strolls along the beach with views to the other islands and more. I feel lucky to have booked Davis House since it seems to be completely booked much of the time. Super easy self-check in and check out with a keypad door lock.
The Davis House offers beautiful views of Fisherman's Bay and the evening sunset over a distant island. It is a short drive or bike ride to well stocked stores and several restaurants. There are nearby kayaks and bicycles to rent and several easy hikes to other views from the island.
