Location, location, location. Hill City is located in the center of the Black Hills and this house is within walking distance of the best parts of Hill City. 40 feet to the world famous Mickelson Trail, 1/2 a block to the 1880s steam train, and 3 blocks to the best restaurant in South Dakota.

This home is not too big and not too small. Whether you are doing a couples get away, traveling with kids or your friends this home may be just right for you.

A glass garage door next to the dining area looks out onto the covered porch and the world famous Mickelson Trail.

A simple kitchen with fridge, stove dishwasher and microwave make meal preparation easy.

The sleeping loft over looks the living room. Kids won't be ble to decide where to sleep, the loft or the bunk bed room (Please note: The sleeping loft, Bedroom #3, has a steep set of stairs for access and may not be suitable for all guests.)

The main bath has a separate shower room and there is an additional half bath down the hall.

The main bedroom has a small walk-in closet and a queen size bed.

Laundry is available and guests have access to a garage. There is room to park 2 vehicles with private off street parking.

For guests wondering about access for anyone elderly or with a physical limitation, the main level of the house has no stairs, only door thresholds that need to be stepped over to gain access to the main living space. The exception to this is the sleeping loft which has a steep set of stairs to access it. Please carefully consider whether or not you will be using this space and if the people using it will be able to safely use the stairs.

You have access to the main level of the home. This is your private space. It includes 2 bedrooms, a full bath and a half bath, living room, dining area, kitchen, sleeping loft, laundry, garage and covered porch.

There is a separate small apartment above the garage that the owners use 3 or 4 nights a month.

Other things to note:

Be on the lookout for the neighborhood deer. They are always around, day and night. They are still wild though, please don't feed them.

We also (not often) have mountain lions that come by.

We were a group of three adult couples in town for the Mickelson Trail Trek. The ride was great and the weather wasn’t bad either. Plenty of good restaurants to choose from and we ate at many of them. Our accommodations were pretty much what we expected as we didn’t spend a lot of time at the house. It was just the right size and the only downside was the loft and steep narrow steps. Even though we had three vehicles with bike racks to park, there was plenty of room. I met one of the neighbors and he was interested in meeting his temporary neighbors. We also had deer visit the back yard every night. Thank you, Doug and family

We visit the Black Hills every Memorial Day weekend and usually stay out of town. This cute little place may have changed our perspective. Being right in town and on the Mickelson Trail was the perfect mix of town and country! We LOVED being able to open up the roll up door off the kitchen and enjoy fresh air while eating and playing games. There were deer and other wildlife to see every day. Bathrooms and shower appear to be brand new. The main bath has a door between the shower and the toilet vanity which is super convenient. It was rainy all weekend, but our super close proximity to the Trail meant we could take advantage when it did so raining a bit. There is also a fun little fishing hole within walking distance! Overall we had a wonderful time and will definitely return to this wonderful little Hideaway!

This property was great! It is new, clean and a great location. Can't say anything that needs improvements! It isn't super large but the back yard patio is great . . you can walk to most places if you choose to. Thanks for having us as your guests!

Stayed here 4 nights with my wife and two teenage daughters. This place was perfect. Walking distance to downtown Hill City and a great central location for exploring the Black Hills. Nothing at all bad to say about the property. Check in/check out was smooth. Got to meet the owners who were very friendly. 6/5 stars!

The Hill City Hideaway is absolutely the best location to stay. You are within walking distance of restaurants, attractions, and the best brewery in the Black Hills. The home is tranquil for sleeping. In the morning, we had deer grazing next to the Mickelson trail in the backyard to enjoy with our coffee. The Nabers are friendly. The owners are super nice. One of the best parts for use was having a garage to keep all the bikes in and the central location to do everything there is to do in the Black Hills.
