Had an amazing stay at the Hideaway cabin. It was cozy, comfortable and just what we hoped for. Fantastic scenic views nestled next to running creek and secluded forest. Perfect place to relax also conveniently located to Erwin and Asheville. Absolutely awesome hosts with a genuine concern we had the best experience possible.

We ( my spouse, me, and our dog) had a lovely stay over Christmas. Chuck and Valda were wonderful hosts and Chuck graciously helped two city folks with building an outdoor fire. Our dog loved lounging on the deck and we had everything we needed to cook a few holiday meals. 10/10!

This is a quaint little studio cabin with full kitchen and internet. The outdoor patio is great with lots of space to hang out and a fireplace. Firewood was provided for us. The creek is down a steep slope, but there are ways to get to it if you are keen to explore. Chuck and Valda met us on our arrivala nd gave a lot of great information about the history of the area and our cabin in particular. It was like staying with a favorite Aunt and Uncle than with strangers.

If I could give a higher rating I would. The host were amazing, chuck showed us around and told us some of the history about the property and there is alot of cool facts. Valda gave us a big hug and made us feel right at home. The property is fun to explore with a really nice creek. The cabin is was perfect for my wife and I to celebrate it anniversary. The state park just a few miles away had some great hiking. We will defiantly be coming back again. And also can’t forget about there dog that will come visit and keep you company especially if your cooking some good sausage or bacon. 10 out of 10 for real!

We spent a wonderful 4 nights at The Hideaway. The cabin is nestled in the woods and was cozy and well equipped for all of our needs. Val and Chuck were gracious and welcoming hosts. They were available to us for any questions or needs and shared with us the fascinating history of the property and area. We were there to celebrate Tom’s birthday and Val made him a delicious cake in addition to the homemade cookies and ice cream provided in the cabin. The deck was amazing with a beautiful view of the creek and woods. We were a short drive from the state park and enjoyed hiking there with our dog. We can’t wait to come back and experience The Hideaway in other seasons.

They were so warm and welcoming and added so many little perfect touches around the cabin and property. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Streams of Living WaterChuck and Valda’s mountain retreat is absolutely breathtaking! We went to see the fall leaves… They were spectacular! When the wind would gently blow, the golden, shimmering leaves in all their brilliance would sparkle and twirl down to the ground and my granddaughter would proclaim with such delight, “It’s fall!” “It’s fall!” It was truly magical!Inside, the cabins were warm and cozy with a whimsical decor and outside were surrounded by a canopy of tall trees. Just below, was a winding crystal clear creek with smooth rocks and sounds of gently flowing water that lulled us to sleep each night as we snuggled in our comfy beds happy to be with family and excited to enjoy God’s creation at our very own private retreat! We loved fishing and exploring in the creek. It had an easy access or you could be adventurous and use the rope. I even had to try it! The grandkids loved the zip line! Some of our favorites were playing games, making s’mores, roasting hotdogs and telling scary stories around the fireplace. Thank you to Chuck for providing the wood and building the fire for us. We just had to light it! You really pampered us!We were very thankful to have both cabins including the bunkhouse. It provided more privacy for each family.Thank you Valda for your homemade treats. The chocolate chip cookies and strawberry ice cream were loved and enjoyed by all! You both have servants’ hearts and you warmed our hearts! God bless you always & forever!

Perfect stay in every way! Host is amazing and friendly, such a sweet couple. Anything you need in cabin for your stay that you may forget to bring. Was welcome with fresh chocolate cookies and homemade ice cream!! We plan to come back again in the spring. Our fall trip to see the mountains made even more amazing with our stay at the cabin! We stayed for three days but my husband said he would like to stay a whole week next time. Thank you Velda and Chuck:)

Beautiful location, and hosts Chuck and Valda go above and beyond. The cabin was clean, and the kitchen had everything you could ever need for cooking! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect vacation. Our 2 dogs loved running around, and playing in the creek, and even made friends with the resident dog! The property has so much history - and I'm sure we only scratched the surface! We will definitely be back.

I have so much to say about our stay. First of all Chuck and Valda are the kindest most welcoming host we’ve ever met! Full of information and history! Truly delightful people! This property is even better in person, the images don’t do it justice. My husband and I had planned to visit a lot of Asheville but changed our minds and spent more time at the property! He fished, the dog played in the creek and I read. Such a relaxing environment. The house is fully stocked with everything you need and more and is SUPER clean!! If you get the chance, try some of Valda’s goodies. The peach butter is amazing! Highly recommend this property!!

It is difficult to put in to words what an amazing place Holyfield Hideaway turned out to be. If you are looking for a place to unwind way from the hustle, bustle and craziness of our world this is the place for you. First we were greeted by our hosts, Valda and Chuck as we arrived. They provided a very brief but informative history of the property and our surroundings. This was followed by a quick tour through the Hideaway showing the location of all the necessities and stressing to us if there was anything else we need they are happy to help. There was fresh homemade strawberry ice cream and chocolate chip cookies there to greet us as well. During the evenings my wife and I would start by grilling a delicious dinner on the large open deck and spending hours sitting around a fire and just visiting. We would sleep with the windows open so that we could hear the stream down below and the other noises of the woods. We spent our days doing much the same just relaxing, talking, napping out on the large open deck. We seldom left the property and we did not turn on the Television once. The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked with a nice selection of spices and condiments. This space will not allow me to describe the amazing hosts. Valda and Chuck are both wonderful people. Just warm and friendly Southern folks and and a joy to be around. We so enjoyed our time talking to them both. Each time I saw them, they wanted to make sure we had everything we needed.

First, the hosts. Valda and Chuck seem at one with their property, 25 acres in the beautiful Tennessee woods. A truly wonderful couple, and I am very thankful I had a chance to sit and talk with them a bit. Their love of life, their family and the magic of the forest was magnetic and made it hard to leave. Thank you both for a truly wonderful time, esp important as the stay was to accommodate support for my AT through-hiking wife who I hadn't seen in six weeks. Through hikers seem to have some celebrity out here, so it was cool.A main house and couple cabins are strategically located around the property, taking advantage of the lay of the land to immerse you in history and the serenity of the forest. A wonderful stream cascades 30 feet below the Hideaway, accessible, but it does take a little work. Use the rope and make your life easier. Beautiful property and as we were the only guests, there was plenty of wandering room around the 12 acres on our side of the road.We enjoyed a very well appointed cabin for two (or four w/ couch), but probably tight for two couples. Has all you need, and the bed, which we both thought felt not so great when we first arrived, was wonderful and we slept very well. Nice size bathroom. The pavilion makes it. A couple hundred square feet of open, yet covered area to enjoy the continual breeze, play games (there's plenty), enjoy a fire or just sit and do nothing. The signs representing places around the world make a real nice touch.

Wonderful cozy stay. We came for a family wedding in Flag Pond. The host was very accommodating & had great stories about the property & surrounding area. The homemade ice cream and cookies were bonus and greatly appreciated. For a family with 2 small children, this worked well. The outside space was very charming with the old fireplace. Thank you for sharing your lovely space.

The Hideaway was perfect! Chuck and Valda have thought of everything! Fully stocked bathroom (even Advil, etc.) and kitchen pantry (oil, seasonings, all the basics - PLUS - to cook a meal), eggs and bagels, homemade ice cream and cookies, ice in the freezer— everything we needed! Side note: the water here is delicious! A fire in the fireplace on the pavilion was perfect in the rain. Sigh… A Christmas movie on the tv with twinkling Christmas tree lights and the sound of rain on the roof—

Everything about this stay was amazing! Valda and Chuck have truly created a beautiful oasis here, it's such a beautiful location and so peaceful. The sound of the creek running through the property is just so relaxing. It was also the middle of July yet it was so nice and cool. Chuck was happy to share the history of the property and the area, love the old buffalo trail and 200+ year old fireplace is beautiful. It's a great location to explore NE TN and the stunning mountain views, Johnson City is only a 30 minute drive so nice and close. Valda and Chuck are such warm & wonderful hosts from the yummy homemade cookies and ice cream to the wonderful conversations this was my favorite vrbo stay!
