Hidden Valley Getaway, more commonly known as The Winery, was once a working vineyard/ winery, known as the Hidden Valley Vineyard.
The winery building was built in 1999 out of straw bales. Current owners, and your hosts, Bridget and Jono Hartnell (who live onsite) have recently converted this characteristic building into a fully functional, modern and charming house. Spacious in size, this nearly 200 square metre house is the perfect getaway for family and friend groups.

Stayed Apr 25, 2025Was an amazing stay, property was clean and heaps of towels and extra blankets which was great. It had everything we needed and loved the games like corn hole. It was a 10 min drive to Martinborough which was super handy. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed Jul 10, 2024Both families had a fantastic 3 nights at this beautiful property while using it as a base to enjoy the region. Had everything you needed - including linen and towels - for a great stay. Only downside was the heat pump struggles to warm such a large space in winter, but an extra layer on while inside fixes that. Totally recommend for anyone wanting to have a relaxing getaway in a beautiful part of Aotearoa.

Stayed Mar 15, 2024We appreciate that this house had all we needed for two peaceful nights. We played yard games, woke up to peaceful morning watching birds and sheep, cooked some of our meals, and had plenty of sleeping space. We worried that only one bathroom with five folks would feel a little tricky, but we made it work (having an outside door to the toilet room let us utilize the shower/toilet as two separate rooms), and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Communications with the host were prompt, kind, and easy. Would stay here again!
