Hemingway House Near Cedar Point & The Beach

Jimmy the owner was great at communicating with us. Easy to get into the house and it is decorated really cute! We've stayed in several homes and it was a nice surprise to have coffee pods, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent & cleaning products available! It seems the house needs a little freshening up. Pillows are flat, all the beds upstairs are squeaky & not very comfortable. The skillets in the kitchen need to be replaced. The kitchen has just very basic stuff for cooking. That was fine with us, we ate out most of the time. Didn't see a toaster or blender...things like that. If you don't know the area...which I didn't...the neighborhood has a lot of run down homes in it. Not the owners' fault. But just FYI in case you don't know the area. We didn't feel unsafe though. The air conditioning worked great and plenty of parking in the driveway. Nice home and comfortable, just needs a little attention to detail.

Had a couple issues when we first got here but the property manager was wonderful and took care of it immediately. We will definitely be back. Beautiful private park. Quiet quaint community and close to Kalahari and Cedar Point!

Overall, this place was functional and a good location for what we needed, but the pictures online do not tell the whole story. The main big issue that we had with this place is that it would be freezing downstairs and a sweltering sauna upstairs. They did provide a space heater as they obviously know this is an issue, but BOY WAS IT. Trying to sleep upstairs at night, even with windows open, wasn’t fun. And if this an unfixable problem, then I mean whatever, but I figure those reading this review should know. A smaller issue was that the door handle immediately fell off when I first opened the door… not a great first impression, and then also it fell off every single other time we used the door.On a brighter note, the beds were comfortable and the other furniture was adequate. The host was a good communicator and was willing to be very flexible and accommodating, which was greatly appreciated.

This was a very nice place to stay, which was perfect for our family trip to Cedar Point.

Cute, had personality. Nice and clean The location was tight.

Overall, the stay was good. It was just a couple of things that could have been touched on a little better, like the chandeliers, having dust on them the upstairs bathroom, having mold in the windowsill. The best were very comfortable. The AC was working very well. The overall cuteness of the house was pleasing to the eyes. Having a driveway that fits four or five vehicles was great.

The house worked out perfectly for our family. The decor was cute, furniture sturdy, beds comfortable. The house is smaller, and the driveway snug but it works. The neighbor is fine, park cute but beach very small so we beached elsewhere. Convenient to area activities. We'd definitely rent again.

Clean and everything we needed. We could walk to the Dinut store and the drive to Cedar Point was swift. One of our vehicles was a large pickup, making turning from the parking area into the street a challenge, but not impossible. The property served us week for our quick weekend.

Very pretty and clean home. Beware of the one way streets which are pretty small for any oversized vehicle. Only real complaint is the window in the upstairs shower.

Charming lake adjacent cottage in a sleepy beach community. Kids had fun at the nearby park and beach (which at this time of year was overrun with many bugs!). House comfortably fit the family. Wish there had been a little more yard…

We enjoyed our stay at the Hemingway House. We loved the large table in which we could all enjoy a meal around the table. The house is very dark during the evenings. They need to get more light or different light fixtures.

From booking to checking out, everything was super simple! Cute house in walking distance to a private beach. Perfect house for our weekend getaway

Location was great. Great communication with owner. But the place needs a deep clean. Toilets had pee around the bottom. Floors were so gross, we had to clean them after we were there about 30-45min because our feet were black. Walls in upper bathroon need cleaned. Everything needs dusted including vents. If this place gets a new cleaner, we would stay again. If not, its a no go for us. The owner did give us a 100 refund for having to clean on our vacation.

Had a great time, liked the layout of house, location, and property manager very helpful. Would have liked hotter water at sink and sofa beds were not all that comfortable as bed but other than that, great

This house was a great choice for our family because of the space and near by amenities. There is lots to do in a short driving distance and the Rye Beach Park near by was a great place that was near by to get kids energy out.

Four boomer siblings (and two spouses) from three states met for a long weekend.

Fully furnished and really nice eye for detail decorating with the history of the Huron area. Easy to find location, quiet and clean. Snow storm hit during our stay but we were warm and comfortable. Beautiful location for the summer months!

Clean, but misc items (lights) didn’t work. Overall it fit our needs and was fine. Limited outdoor space.

We stayed here with our family and 2 pups. It was a short 20 min drive to Cedar Point, which was the purpose of our trip. Our teenagers loved the park/playground being about a block and a half away and we loved the small beach by the lake where you could see Cedar Point. There were a lot of, what we assume mayflies, but that is expected being right near the water and the time of year. It fit us all comfortably without feeling on top of each other and we can’t wait for our next trip that will hopefully be longer next time.

We had a great stay at this property. It was the perfect house to fit our large family. Great location for parks, beach access, and lots of fun adventures. Overall it was a comfortable, enjoyable stay.

House is nice and well for a larger family. Jimmy was a great responder when there was an issue. Rye beach community itself is beautiful located but a couple of empty / worn down places were not so nice.

The property was just what we were looking for. Our family planned a few days in Sandusky to go to cedar point and the beach. The property is located minutes from both. We had a great time and would definitely come back!
