Happy Place - Luxurious Lord Of The Rings Inspired Design Near The Beach!

We had a fantastic stay at this property. We were a family of six adults. The home was exactly as advertised and shown in the photographs—but the experience of being there exceeded our expectations. The craftsmanship throughout the home was truly impressive, from the custom woodwork to the intricately detailed tilework. The consistent design theme and top-quality construction materials made it a pleasure to admire and enjoy.The kitchen was the best equipped kitchen we have ever stayed in at a VRBO (not just the cookware but the dishes and glasses and mugs as well - plentiful!). We would often say, I wish they had an XYZ and we'd look through another kitchen drawer and we'd find it! It almost became a game for us to think of something they DIDN'T have. The beds were very comfortable in all of the rooms.It took a few minutes to figure out the door locks, but the owner thoughtfully provided a very detailed and helpful set of instructions in the guestbook, which made everything easy to use. We initially had a problem with the pool cover but the management company gave us instructions over the phone and then came out to check it for us. We never had a problem after that.We would absolutely recommend this home to anyone looking for a luxury stay in Santa Barbara.

Rented for my daughter’s birthday. Pool was not clean and uninviting on arrival. Had the pool guy come back twice. Before it looked well enough to enter. Jacuzzi would NOT get hot. Followed the instructions and still nothing. A day later was advised home owner controlled the temperature from his phone and it was set at 91 degrees. Body temperature is 98.6 so figure that in next time. Owner also seemed to control the thermostat. All the girls were cold at night with no way to adjust the AC. Was alerted to excessive water usage while staying. Seemed like the owner was more concerned with prophet than comfort. I literally had to micro manage these problems while on business in Texas.

Flawless experiences from start to finish! The owners of this place were committed to the Lord of the Rings theme and absolutely nailed the design and details. The kitchen was fully stocked and beautiful. We spend a lot of time in the beautiful rose garden and by the pool. The beds were comfy and showers were stunning and functional. 10/10. Anytime we had questions, the prop managers were on it. If you are debating on renting this home, here’s your sign to book it.

Clearly a well designed and well loved house with great attention to detail.We felt very welcome, with good local information provided and we would return as a family or even extended group.Watching the hummingbirds by pool or in thw lovely gardens was a highlight.A great place as either a base to explore from or somewhere to just stay and relax.

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at the “Happy Place” Thanksgiving week (need to find a better property name; one which won’t give lawyers heartburn). From the moment that we saw the front door with the large door knob in the middle of the door and a small sign on the right side of the door, we knew property was going to be an enchanting, whimsical house; and it exceeded all expectations. (Spoiler alert: there are Hobbit Easter eggs throughout the house. We are not Tolkien fanatics but found them an enjoyable touch) Moreover, the property was exceptionally well-maintained; from the fully-equipped kitchen to the spotless bathrooms. 

The charm of the home lies not just in its upkeep (and Easter eggs) but also in its thoughtful design. The decor was tastefully done, creating a warm and cozy ambiance. The outdoor patio with flowers, trees and other small details also made for an enjoyable serene place.

 The property is convenient to the Santa Barbara pier area, approx. 10 minute drive, Carpinteria as well as the Santa Ynez wineries.

One word for the rental agent/property managers, we found them responsive and helpful. We would highly recommend the property and would go back. Also, we would recommend the Boathouse restaurant at the beach approx ¾ mile away. Spent a few mornings there.

We were there for a business get away and it was a great place to hang and for getting out to see beautiful Santa Barbara

We enjoyed the property. It was spacious with room for all seven of us to spread out. The pool and hot tub were used and appreciated. The kitchen was very well supplied. We had a concern with hot water and a few other issues and found paradise retreats to be prompt and supportive in fixing the problems. Some of us found the lights to be extremely frustrating-with the light switches and dimmers

Great place to unwind & enjoy the peaceful surroundings!

We had a great time at the shire! I would suggest this rental for big groups. Just remember to bring your own spices and DO NOT speak a word outside after 9 pm.

The house was beautiful, very unique, clean, and had everything we needed.

Everything was perfect the moment we pulled in the driveway. All the amenities that were listed were all perfect and available when we got there. The location was perfect and away from all the noise. I am definitely coming back for a second stay. Perfect for a family get away.

8 of us stayed including my 89 yo mom and 97yo MIL . Lord of rings theme was loved by my 31 yo step daughter and overall very clever! rented the house for graduation so we would be able to be together as a family and enjoy the place. Swam in the pool and enjoyed the hitting. Had every meal except one at the house-eating inside/outside. House is fully equipped and property management responsive when questions asked. The rose garden and grounds are just stunning. 0.75 walk to Burro Arroyo beach. Was lovely. Beds comfy-everything wonderful. Thanks!!

Pictures don't catch the great quality of this home, the cabinetry, arched doors, and architectural details are amazing! Location is at the base of a hill about half a mile from a public beach, and a quick drive from Santa Barbara. Loved the experience, the family wants to do it again next year.
