Lake City, Colorado
This one of kind three-story log home is on the edge of Lake City. It offers stunning views of Pete's Lake, Round Top, and Red Mountain. It has three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. It sleeps up to eight so ideal for families. This owner-built log home boasts reclaimed materials throughout and milled on site post and beam interior. The house does have a tight, narrow spiral staircase to the basement so not the best for those with mobility issues. It has a master suite with a king bed in the upstairs. There are bunks beds in the basement along with only one TV. There is also a foldable queen mattress and couch for additional sleeping needs. This home is ideal for people looking to unplug & unwind. Outside, there is parking for three vehicles and a truck & trailer or RV. The wrap around deck is a great place to BBQ or enjoy the mountain views. The house is three-minute walk to the Lake City Bakery and Country Store and less than a mile from downtown Lake City.
Nice place but several problems- I informed the owner but no response, so here goes. -No ice maker or even ice cube trays -Stairs going down to two bunk rooms are death trap -no lighting on those stairs -No hair dryer in lower level bathroom, and not even an electric plug -Cook ware was very nice -Beds downstairs were awful and placed on sheets of plywood -Master bedroom is a loft upstairs with no wall or door -No tv on main floor, only one downstairs with dangerous stairs -Kitchen countertops need to be re-sealed -Master toilet has a small leak -Gas BBQ grill- gas can was empty- which we learned as we were getting ready to grill steaks -No smoke or fire detectors in kitchen, or anywhere -No vent hood in kitchen Could be a very nice place to stay, but I will not ever book again unless the owners acknowledge and fix these simple problems.
Nice
Our group came to Lake City to hike Handies Peak, the 14'er. Very clean, great location, lots of space for our group. Would definitely stay there again.
The home was beautiful and the location convenient. Not as remote as appears in the pictures. Does not sleep 8 adults..2 - 4 adults at most. Kids on twin bunks and blow up. Parking situation- not user friendly for trucks with attached trailers.
This is my second time staying at this property and I'll be back again next year.
This property is exactly as represented in the listing. Attention to detail is impressive and the floor layout plan lends itself to an open gathering environment. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cutlery, they were even a few spices such as salt, pepper, and cooking oil. (I would confirm with the owners about any food products left over.) Sleeping arrangements are best for a family with children, with the primary bedroom upstairs being quite sumptuous. The two smaller rooms downstairs are certainly adequate, but on a different floor. Bathrooms are modern and very clean. It is nice to have three bathrooms and on-demand water heating for a group of four adults. The towels and linens were in good shape. We found that AT&T and Verizon cell service both had excellent reception at the house as well as throughout Lake City itself. The Wi-Fi was adequate for basic email and Internet browsing. The plowed parking spot was fine for our two vehicles. The Mountain Views, especially south, were very impressive. Classic Colorado. The only minor letdown was the view into the neighboring properties with bits of vehicles, building materials, etc. scattered about. But to be fair, this is typical of remote, small towns everywhere in the US. Overall we were pleased with everything at Half Street Haven and will definitely consider another visit. A fine place!
Fantastic property. Very comfortable master suite. Lots of room in bottom floor for kids to hang out. Well stocked kitchen with all utensils and basic cooking supplies. Big gas grill is great for cooking. Great bakery in walking distance makes great breakfast pastries! Fantastic view of Lake city and mountains.
Small town feel, snow on Christmas Eve, deer wandering through the yard and town- it was a great stay here at Half Street Haven. The house was well appointed, we had seating for 8 at the table as well as everything we needed in the kitchen. House was comfy and warm, and everything was really clean. Wally was really helpful when the power went out (which I told was a freak occurrence due to the amount of snow falling) and used his local contacts to let us know it would be on shortly. I need to clarify one thing about the house- the master “suite” is the entire 3rd floor and doesn’t have a door on the room or the bathroom. You can hear everything up there all through the house.
The location is perfect and the views were awesome. It was very quiet and relaxing. We had 7 adults and the dining table was really great for playing games and just having fun. The kitchen was stocked better than any other property we have rented. There were 3 floors with a bathroom on each floor which was great!
We really enjoyed our stay and our time together as a family. The house was beautiful and the location perfect. We will be renting again in the future.
