Gîte du Chaland in Amboise

Host made sure we were personally welcomed even when arriving very late past midnight. Wonderful home, perfect for a large family. Fantastic location. Beds and pillows were a little stiff for our liking however.

We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful furnished three floored house with terrace. It has a wooden spiral staircase with original features. Good facilities and large bathrooms and rooms. It was comfortable. We enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace. Would like to come again. Christele was excellent at communicating.We were close to the Loire viewpoint of the Royal Chateau de Amboise.

We loved our stay. The home is very nicely located and the our hosts were very helpful with check-in and check-out. The home had everything we needed for our stay and the historic character of the building was wonderful.

Roomy well located apartment close to good boulangerie and old downtown Amboise. Staircase to bedrooms are steep but we found them easily manageable.

This was a marvellous place to stay. 16th century features including a winding wooden staircase. Generous big rooms. Good little kitchen, open plan with a lovely living area. A nice shady terrace. Pretty streets around, and very close is the classic view across the Loire of the chateau. 5 minutes walk takes you into the town centre, via a beautiful bridge crossing. It was easy to reach the great sights of the Loire from here: Chenonceux 25 mins, Chambord 55; and there were hosts of other lovely places. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you very much to the delightful hosts!

Apartment is on three levels - first floor is up one spiral staircase from the street entrance, two bedrooms are up one floor and the third bedroom was on the top floor. The apartment was beautifully restored, plenty of space, well-equipped, outdoor seating area was delightful, bathrooms were huge, parking was nearby and easy to access. The walk to Amboise center was short and fun. I wasn't sure about staying on the island but it was a great location, and much easier to get to by car than in town. There's a cute restaurant around the corner from the apartment for drinks and dinner watching the river, town and chateau. The host was prompt and clear in her communication. Would completely recommend this for a visit to Amboise.

We loved our time at this gite in Amboise. It was comfortable and in a quiet but central location. We appreciated being in a peaceful neighbourhood away from the tourist crowds but had only to walk across the bridge to be in the centre of Amboise. We found the apartment comfortable and well appointed. Having both a washer and dryer was a bonus. Communication with the owners was excellent and timely. We appreciated their recommendations about local sights and restaurants. The outdoor area was great, however, we were only able to enjoy it on the first night due to the weather. We would highly recommend this accommodation.
