Stayed May 15, 2024Grand La Chambre was a great home base for our family, in from out of town, for the SLU graduation. It was very clean and spacious, with plenty of beds and bathrooms for our group of 6. The kitchen was large and well-equipped, including a table around which we all could sit. Parking was easy, both in front on the street and around back, off an alley, onto a pad that led right to the back deck. While the neighborhood was sparse and still under-developed, it was very convenient to the university, groceries, some great restaurants and downtown. Our four day stay was very enjoyable, far more so than had we rented rooms at a hotel. Thank you!

Stayed Mar 10, 2024We had a wonderful time in St Louis and at the La Chambre. The house is perfectly located close to everything a family would want to do on a Spring Break family vacation. We were minutes from the Zoo, Arch, Union Station, and the City Museum. The house is conveniently located next to a lot of great restaurants which offered a variety of options and great atmosphere. The house itself has a great layout with a Bedroom downstairs for my mother and plenty of space for my teenagers to veg out by themselves after a long day together. We enjoyed the kitchen layout where we even cooked a great family meal together. Check in process was a little different than other VBRO that we have stayed in but understand the importance of safety and thoroughness and it all worked out. The hosts were very responsive. The house and city made for a wonderful trip. I would highly recommend this house to any large group or mixed aged family. You will love it!

Stayed Feb 28, 2024This house reeked of marijuana and cigarettes even though it is listed as a non-smoking residence. Stair edges were broken and dangerous, 2nd floor shower leaks all over the floor and the property was not clean. Attempt was made to break into our cars. Very frustrating and disappointing

Stayed Sep 27, 2023This home is a lovely renovated vintage home. However, the interior spaces are not well appointed; minimal at best. The listing shows a Cleaning Certification but the baseboards, the large windows, lights over the kitchen counter, all wall hangings, floorboards, window sills; all very dirty/dusty and in need of a thorough cleaning. The bedrooms were definitely not furnished for guests. There are no dressers in any of the bedrooms for unpacking any clothes. In the Master Suite on the 1st floor (which is a small guest room at best) we hung our slacks over a playpen that was in our room. There weren’t enough hangers in the closet for 2 of us as the closet was a storage area for cleaning equipment and supplies. The rest of our things stayed in our luggage on the floor. Of note - there were 5 doors in this room but only 1 closet. The other 4 doors: 1 to stairs for upper levels, 1 to stairs down to basement, 1 to outside deck, and 1 led to the tiny bathroom outside the bedroom and adjacent to the living room; none of them had locks (except the bathroom) There was NO DOOR on the bedroom itself for privacy from the living room. Also, the shower door had no track and the water pooled out into the bathroom when we showered. This scenario was repeated to some degree on all 3 levels of this home. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the home, and its vintage appearance, but it was not as anticipated. Sadly to say, in my opinion, this lovely home is not entirely ready for guests.
