Historic charm abounds in this turn-of-the-century arts and crafts era home located on a quiet one-way brick lined street in Downtown Wilmington. Boasting 3 bedrooms, 1 full bath, 2 half baths, 3 covered porches, and a private backyard, this historic gem is ideal for families, friends, and old home lovers. This home was renovated over the course of several years with emphasis on restoring and preserving the original details. The big pocket doors which separate the living room and dining roomare fully functional. Fireplaces throughout the house are non-functional but boast beautiful surrounds and mantles. The original woodwork and trim are throughout and the original hardwood flooring was restored. With a new living room sofa, chandeliers, period correct furniture like beautiful armoires and desks, and some windows with wavy glass give them home a lovely vintage feel.

The charming neighborhood is full of meticulously restored historic homes and the short walk to the riverwalk and other destinations in the heart of downtown is a very pleasant one. The neighbors are friendly and often seen enjoying the evening air from their porches with a glass of wine.

All of the common spaces are on the first floor, from the front covered porch to the living room, dining room, kitchen, and covered back porch. The 3 bedrooms are on the 2nd floor up a flight of stairs. All of the bedrooms have new comfortable mattresses and mattress protectors and have room darkening window treatments. The front bedroom which would have initially been the nursery is a small bedroom with a queen bed. The middle bedroom is larger and has a California King bed. The back bedroom is large and has a king bed and its own private covered porch with lounge chairs.

The kitchen is fully modernized and renovated, with new cabinets, new countertops, a dishwasher, and a gas stove. It is completely stocked with cookware, flatware, dishes, and cooking basics. It also has a vintage desk for work or extra prep space.

The dining room table seats 6, has a beautiful cabinet with wavy glass, a non-functioning decorative fireplace and mantle, a chandelier, and accesses the back covered porch.

The living room has a new sofa, other period correct furniture, a cute table that is perfect for snacks like a charcuterie board, a non functioning fire place, large vintage oriental rug, and TV.

The backyard is sizable and private.

Street parking is free and usually very plentiful.

GREAT location--felt like home! Loved the front porch and all of the houses along the street look family owned. Neighbors were friendly. House itself was perfect for our family to stay. Welcome basket of snacks, make-up towels, and visitor info binder were a nice touch. Walked a different way downtown each time to check out all of the adorable places along the way. Great restaurant, Castle Street Kitchen, around the corner--they even offered my daughter a job when she starts college in the fall!!! I hope we can stay here again when we come to visit her!!!

Our stay here was amazing!! We were able to walk to my favorite coffee shop, Hidden Grounds. Enjoy the 70 degree weather at Wrightsville Beach for a day. Loved the mornings relaxing on the front porch. If you are traveling to Wilmington, I highly recommend staying at Going to Carolina!

Our group was 5 ladies all over the age of 75 who have been getting together for decades. We loved the house. It was convenient to walk to the water front with lots of wonderful restaurants. The beds are wonderful, the kitchen is well appointed, everything is great. It is a great place to stay.
