Stayed Feb 18, 2026I tried to communicate with the host by using expedia messaging and by calling but there was no response. I left a message at the number that was provided but there was no call back. Biggest problem was a little after we checked in, another family arrived saying that they were the ones that had booked the accommodations. It was odd because they had the same entry code as we did. I tried to contact the owner but could only leave a message. After some digging, the new family was 1 year early - scheduled for 18 Feb 2027 instead of 2026. Now why would they have the same entry code as we were given just a few days before? The host NEVER changes the code and what makes it even worse, the host has done something to make the code very easy to break. I did not feel secure in the home. I called VRBO to get the host to change the code and I was given the response that it was too difficult for her to change the code. My safety and wellbeing are too difficult to be concerned about? I can't even imagine what would have gone on if the other family arrived before we did. This is unacceptable for a host to be so indifferent to the guests or their safety. The accommodation does have a new keyless entry lock and if the host would take a few minutes on how to use it, they would find out that the lock can do all that is required to have a different code for EACH renter and the best thing is that it can be done remotely and automatically. The host only cares about the money.

Stayed Dec 12, 2024We stayed at the first floor. It was lovely with everything, including an outdoor bed and a cute cat. It was very easy to communicate with the host before our first trip to Hawaii. When we arrived, we were lucky to meet the cleaning lady, Cathy, who welcomed us warmly and helped moving my mom's luggages from our car to the house. Although we heard the footsteps from upstairs, we will come back in the future.

Stayed Feb 4, 2026Though the property description and photos were accurate about it being a lower level there was no warning about the fact you can hear every step of the upstairs guests clearly. If this isn't an issue with someone then i would recommend this property. Also, I had to restart this evaluation due to two questions. Neither left any provision for explanation nor would it let me submit unless I scored them. One asked about our experience at the National Park. What national park? The other asked about the location. Great except for the noisy kids next door 3 of the 4 nights, which is not the fault of the owner (4th night it rained).

Stayed Dec 12, 2025The host was very nice and helpful. The lanai bed was wonderful to lay on and read a book. The sound of traffic was the only interruption. There is a view of the ocean through some trees but this is not oceanside, it is along the main road and there was frequent traffic for a small town. There is no window AC but the fans in the bedroom made for a comfortable night.

Stayed Nov 4, 2025We decided to not stay given our experience driving there. The road to Hāna was stressful and we needed a place to rest and recuperate. Upon arriving too early we decided to turn around. The house keeping was kind enough to allow us to use the bathroom. And my family agreed upon seeing the interior that they would rather turn around and drive back instead of waiting for the schedule check in. This is no reflection upon the owner. It was our decision to go back to our high end resort to recuperate.

Stayed Sep 15, 2025Good location, easy access, reasonably close to a good selection of food trucks and a couple of stores. Interior is dated, but clean. The unit could use a few more outlets to charge your devices. The outdoor screened-in porch is spacious and very comfortable. First night - we stayed 3 nights - I took what I thought would be a short nap on the bed on the porch and woke up 3 hours later. I haven't slept that well in a long time, partially because you can hear the waves in the distance. There is also a sweet spot on the porch where you can get a decent peekaboo view of the ocean through the trees. You should expect bugs. On the lighter side, we saw a couple of geckos, but inside the unit, we saw the biggest cockroach I have ever seen. Not including antennae, it was conservatively 3 inches long, so wash the top dishes before you use them. I'm told that this is fairly normal for the area. There is also a very friendly calico cat patrolling the property. One last thing: there were three different neighbors upstairs during our stay, and you can hear everything, sounds like they're stomping around but I doubt it.

Stayed Sep 8, 2025We stayed at the Fisher's Hana Bay Hale, bottom unit, early September 2025. We decided to stay here after taking the long Road to Hana drive. The location was great, it was clean, parking was available, and it had some necessary items for comfort, such as games, puzzles, dishes, pots and pans, and basic cooking spices. At the time of our visit, there was an impending threat of Hurricane Kiko. I was in contact with the host. She quickly responded and shared my same concerns. As it turned out, Kiko posed no threat, and we were able to complete our stay. Coming from a desert climate, we were not prepared for the humidity and lack of air conditioning for sleeping. There were 3 fans on the property, which made it comfortable. If you are looking for AC, I wouldn't book here. (This is listed in the amenities, so no surprise) But everything else was very nice. Overall, a 5-star rating for location, cleanliness, and friendliness of the host and amenities. (Side note, if you wanted to visit the Black Sand beaches, it now requires a reservation. We did not know this. They will enforce this and NOT let you just go take a look.)

Stayed Aug 7, 2025The location was great and the home was comfortable, clean, and well outfitted. The only marks taken off are for no AC and thin walls. The upstairs unit was super loud both with music playing loudly and stomping around/moving things to the point that it made it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. Just be aware that if you aren’t renting the whole house this may be an issue. I was able to fall back asleep easily but my husband was not and made it hard for him to power through the long day we had planned afterwards. My stepson loved sleeping on the bed outside and snuggling with the local cat who came to visit.

Stayed Aug 5, 2025Convenient place to stay as an overnight to break up road to Hana drive. Perfectly comfortable, though it was humid but that’s to be expected. Would probably choose something with an ocean breeze another time or somewhere with aircon rather than just fans. The place was clean though and the general area was lovely. Lovely lanai. Unfortunately the renters upstairs didn’t get the memo about being quiet …possible they weren’t aware but they were stomping around at various points during the night, which woke us up. Not the fault of the hosts of course!

Stayed May 17, 2025Rain or shine, Hana never fails to disappoint. A stay here is tonic for the soul. After the busy activities in Lahaina area, it felt great to slow down and just be. The home was a tranquil place, beautiful yard of flowers to greet us, a strand of native bananas hung by the door for the picking. Good! We are two older couples and the accommodations were perfect. Close to town, a short walk to a dramatic black lava beach, you can see the ocean from the porch. And the porch....a special outdoor sleeping area. Just what we were looking for. Just beautiful.

Stayed Apr 28, 2025Listing was accurate, the place was clean and in a good location. Host warns you about it being in a tropical rainforest with bugs and they are not lying! Be prepared to see bugs. But be smart and don't leave food out or trash in the unit. Also check the fridge, I found a little cricket hanging out in the door shelf :). The place was nice and comfortable and I appreciated having access to beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach towels. Thanks for that. The mattresses on both inside beds are very soft so I didn't find them very comfortable. I would have liked a firmer mattress option to get better sleep.

Nestled within a lush, tropical landscape, and with a view towards the ocean, I honestly could not have imagined a better location. Stayed May 5, 2025These photos were highly edited and clearly taken many years ago. Every single piece of furniture, dishware, and everything in the unit is different from the photos, very old. The mattresses are 25 years old spring mattresses that are dirty and uncomfortable. It feels like a dorm room with scratchy old towels and very very dirty rugs on the floor that are discolored from lack of cleaning. All of the towel racks and tables have shipping paint and there is cracks in the shower acrylic. The front window awnings are broken and do not work so you have to move the levers by hand if you want to close the window. The kitchen is tiny and has a very dangerous knife rack on the wall, beware if you have children! The exterior of the property is actually quite nice and tropical, but the inside is an absolute bait and switch. Looks nothing like the photos, extremely uncomfortable, and the owner did not respond to any of our messages in the weeks leading up to check in, nor regarding our complaint when we checked in about the house being absolutely filled with black beetle bugs all over the walls and ceilings in multiple rooms and dead cockroaches in the bedrooms. Would highly recommend finding alternate lodging.

They were very quick to respond to our communications and help us out with our very last minute change of plans. I can’t speak to the quality of the condo, but the hosting was wonderful.

Stayed Feb 3, 2025This was a great 2 night stay in Hana. We wanted to take our time and be able to see some hikes and waterfalls that really aren’t possible on a one day trip to Hana. This beach house is very clean, although a bit rustic. The bed on the lanai was a pretty relaxation spot. The bed inside was comfortable and the bathroom and kitchen were spotless. You won’t be disappointed!

Stayed Jan 28, 2025We enjoyed our stay here very much! We wanted to be able to enjoy more on the road to Hāna experience so booked a couple of nights here. It was a great location to access the Pipiwai trail and black sand beach on our 2nd day. I booked the house based on the beds on the outdoor lanai and it did not disappoint! Be prepared with food as the primary option for food seemed to be food trucks and most places closed in the 4-5 hour!

Stayed Jan 26, 2025My husband & I were very glad to have this place to stay after our drive of the Road to Hana -- it was nice to not have to turn around and get back same-day. The home is lovely with all the basics you might need. One thing to mention: You will likely have other guests staying in the upstairs unit. While there are quiet hours for everyone in the area (8pm-8am) that doesn't mean there won't be noise from upstairs. We even had a noise machine going to try to drown out the excess noise -- but just know that if you have heavy walkers or night owls above you, you will notice.

Stayed Dec 21, 2024Comfortable and convenient to Hana, the house was delightful and very clean. We were met by Kathy the property manager, who explained that there was a power outage at the time, but since the water still ran and light was supplied by a large flashlight/lantern, it was a minor inconveniencescreee

Stayed Dec 4, 2024Easy to find spot just off the historic and beautiful Road To Hana! The house had nice extras such as sunscreen, beach equipment, and bananas and avocados right from the tree outside. As others have said, it is certainly an older home in the tropical rainforest, so be prepared for noise from upstairs neighbors, humid conditions, and a not-updated bathroom. For the price, it's a great place to stay for the night and spend all your time outside exploring. Hana is a sleepy, quiet town and things close early so planning accordingly! Luckily the house is well-stocked with cooking utensils.

Stayed Nov 27, 2024Property is very nice and covers most amenities you might need. It is close to restaurants and some must do’s on road to Hana. Loved bed outside to lounge and enjoy the nature, it is covered with mosquitoes net which was great. Room is spacious and can easily accommodate 4. It has upper and lower unit so you might hear some noise depending on other tenant but Otherwise property is beautiful and reasonably priced for Hana.

Stayed Nov 5, 2024This was our second time staying here. It’s in a perfect location— very close to all of the beaches and activities.. The house has everything you need and very clean. I highly suggest that you make your coffee and take the very short walk down to Hana Bay to watch the sunrise every morning. Also sleeping on the bed in the screened in porch is pretty amazing as well! We enjoyed talking with the nice lady who cleans the home. She’s very kind and does such a wonderful job. Highly recommend!

Stayed Oct 30, 2024Short walk to Hāna Bay. Cottage is roomy, well appointed, and matches photos and description. Have stayed there twice and would definitely stay there again. There are few options for dinner in Hāna, so bringing your own food is recommended.

Stayed Oct 16, 2024this house was perfectly situated in Hana. perfect for overnight stay or like we do, stayed for 4 days 3 nights. Whats not to love about Hana! house is right up from a quaint little black sand beach nobody visits. Also, avacados had fallen from tree on property and we didnt let them go to waste. Overall this place is a 10, being in Hana and knowing Hana. We love Hana. Mahalo!

Stayed Oct 8, 2024Loved our stay here. Just needed a place for an overnight stay while traveling the “Road to Hana”. This lower level unit worked great. Walked to black sand beach across the road for sunrise. And down the road for the red sand beach after. The red sand beach was a trip highlight!

Stayed Sep 23, 2024Overall, we had a pleasant one-night stay at Hana Bay. The apartment was charming and had a lovely outdoor retreat. We also enjoyed the company of the friendly orange and grey cats. However, we encountered a few inconveniences during our stay. The apartment lacked air conditioning, which made it quite warm and uncomfortable to sleep in. Additionally, the television was quite small and did not function properly.

Stayed Sep 4, 2024This place was a great way to slow down and really enjoy RTH by doing it in two days. Super clean place. We loved the screened porch, and spent most of our time there. The inside bed was comfortable and shower was great! The soaps and shampoos was a great bonus to not have to pack those items. We appreciated the fans. They kept us plenty cool. Would definitely stay here again. The locals at the general store nearby were super nice.

Stayed Sep 5, 2024Easy check in, great location in the town of Hana, walkable to everything you need! We loved the lanai with day bed and outdoor dining, as well as the cats who came by to say hello. It was a little warm in the evening (no AC) but the fans help a lot. Would definitely recommend to make your road to Hana day much more relaxed!

Stayed Sep 2, 2024It was exactly what we were looking for. Rather than doing the road to Hana to and from in one long day we decided this year to break it up. After a long day of hiking and sightseeing we grabbed some food from the local food truck park, brought it to our home and ate on the outside screened in porch, then laid on the outside bed and listened to the surf from the beach across the road. The beds were extremely comfortable and even though I forgot to check about air conditioning… my husband was a wee bit concerned about that one😬 we were fine with the fans provided. A lovely little home in the middle of paradise.

Stayed Jul 24, 2024This was a great spot to rest after a long day prior to driving back from Hana. Screened in Lanai was the best feature of the property, as we were able to sleep out there. Also a short walk across the street to a very large black sand beach!!! Rain prevented us from seeing the sunrise, but the beach was a beautiful surprise!
