BYERS PEAK LODGE
Byers Peak Lodge sits atop a rocky, wooded ridge on 43 acres, adjoining 1300 acres of open space, just 4 miles east of Granby, Colorado. This magnificent, 5 bedroom, 7 bath, 5000 square foot, custom log home is a masterpiece of Colorado mountain architecture. Completed in 2002, the Lodge provides numerous amenities.
Custom rock fireplaces grace the great room on the main level and the entertainment room on the lower walkout level. The fireplace in the great room features two 6000-pound, lichen-encrusted boulders taken from a cliff on the property. One of these massive boulders is a natural replica of Byers Peak, the 12800 ft. , snow-capped peak oriented directly in the center of the Lodge’s panoramic great room windows. The Lodge’s unobstructed views are unparalleled in Grand County.
The dining area is designed for gatherings of friends and family, with a wide, family-style table and adjoining bar and stools. The kitchen features a refrigerator, two conventional ovens, a microwave, a vented cooking range, two dishwashers, and two disposals. For outdoor cooking with a view, the Lodge offers a deluxe, stainless steel, gas grill, located on the main-level deck, which wraps around 3 sides of the home. Or, for those not inclined to cook, restaurants in every price range are abundant in Granby, Winter Park, and Grand Lake.
Each of the five bedrooms features handcrafted, natural aspen log beds. Adjoining bathrooms offer jacuzzi tubs; separate, seated showers with handrails; sink and toilet. Also in each suite or adjoining hall we have washers and dryers (4 sets total) for your after ski laundry necessities.
The entertainment room, quietly isolated on the bottom walkout level, provides the latest in home theater technology. A ceiling-mounted projector and movie screen provide the ultimate movie-watching experience. Guests can choose from a variety of videocassettes and DVDs, while relaxing on reclining leather sofas, loveseats, and beanbags. We also have Dish satellite.
We are a non-smoking, no animal home, due to the allergies of family members and many of our guests.
We regret that we are no longer able to host events at Byers Peak Lodge that include day guests who are not actually staying at the lodge. A few unfortunate past experiences prompted this decision out of respect for the peace and privacy of our neighbors.

Outstanding craftsmanship. Very large home can easily accommodate 3 or 4 families. Truly Epic views! Home is very well stocked and everything is systematically organized and labeled. Everywhere you look is another thoughtful detail. Quite possibly the most impressive home I have ever stayed in, and definitely has the most awe-inspiring views. You get to feel isolated, while being minutes from a grocery store, etc. You will never want to leave! Obviously tons of outdoor adventure in the area with Rocky Mountain National Park down the road, but can have a tremendous time and never leave the property. Grill, ping pong, disc golf hole, quarters, kids swings, and the most fun of all-adult swing! Seriously, a single swing suspended between two full size tree logs planted into the ground. Flying on this swing while staring miles into the mountains will be one of the moments I try to describe to people for the rest of my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This lodge was even more than we could have imagined. Everything was so nice and the fireplace and views are stunning. Perfect place for our whole family. Roomy allowing for privacy and lots of different activities at the same time.
My family and I stayed in this beautiful home for 4 nights and had a truly fantastic time. We each had a private bedroom and bath, plenty of space and so much to do that we didn't even have to leave the property. Sitting on the porch in the early morning with a cup of hot chocolate, playing games into the evening, and watching movies in the afternoon were just a few of the ways we enjoyed our stay. Every possible convenience and comfort and has been thoughtfully provided and if that's not enough the children in our group cried their eyes out when it was time to leave (the adults almost did to!) We plan to make this an annual trip.
We visited the Byers Lodge March 10 - 17, 2012. The property is kept in awesome condition. Very spacious with every amenity. Laundry in every bedroom!! This house was easy to relax in and have large long lasting communal meals and gatherings. We spent most of our days going to Winter Park & Sol Vista for the skiing and added tubing and hot springs visits in the afternoons. When we needed it, we had the privacy of separate large bedrooms. Every space was very well thought out and combined for a beautiful, comfortable visit. Very nice escape. We'll be back!
Our stay at this house met every expectation. Very clean and well maintained. We were surprised a couple of times at the overall depth of amenities. On top of all the other comforts we found chafing dishes! Feeding 20 became so much easier! The house is very comfortable with plenty of elbow room but it also has a cozy feel. We had 20 total and still we had plenty of room. The owner is very communicative and pleasant to conduct business with. If you need a big space this place is a delight. We hope to be back next year. As one of the other organizers put it, I'm glad the place we went to last year wasn't available. 5 stars from start to finish. Thank you!
Dear VRBO We're pleased to write this review about a place that we came to love. This summer was a marvelous opportunity to stay in this beautiful home; I think that's an understatement. I refer to it as our Granby Lodge. This large home (5,000sq ft. we understand) will accommodate many family members and between the five bedrooms and in suite bathrooms it is easy and fun for everyone to stay there. The women were very thrilled because of the several washers, dryers and lots of hot water. Cooking was a snap in the big kitchen with the plentiful cupboards, counter tops and large island, plus two dishwashers and a huge kitchen table, its pedestal made from an ancient stump. We liked the extra freezer downstairs. My wife and I had our own family reunion there. It consisted of most of our five children and spouses and our fourteen grandchildren. We all stayed in the home and spent endless hours playing outside on the playground and by the fire pit, roaming the forty plus acres, swinging, playing the outdoor games provided and lounging under the sun. We have one granddaughter who loves flowers. She spent hours picking scores of wildflowers and pressing them into her scrapbook. Each time we went to town we passed the Alpaca farm with its’ 180 animals of different colors. The owners gave us a complete tour of the pastures and the mill where they run the wool in one end and it comes out the finished product. The lodge is close to Lake Granby and Rocky Mountain National Park. We were astounded by the huge and numerous high alpine peaks and valleys. I brought along my Leica Spotting Scope and set it up on the south deck. With its aid we spotted elk, deer and antelope right while we smelled hamburgers and hotdogs cooking. We'd surely recommend visiting or living here to any and all who like breathtaking scenery and luxurious living. We've visited Yellowstone Park's magnificent Inn designed and built by the great architect Robert Riemer and our opinion is that this 'Colorado Lodge' reminds us of the Yellowstone Inn in a smaller size. Just as Mr. Reimer did at the beginning of the nineteen hundreds, this Granby home was built with all the love and care of the owners. Every detail at Granby was given the upmost thought, care and imagination. The great room is my favorite spot to relax in the comfortable chairs or sofa and look out the myriad of tall windows at the valley and mountain peaks. My wife and family all love the magnificent fireplace and huge rocks that surr
Property is as described if not better! There was more than enough rooms, space and beds for our 3 families and we would have been fine if there had been extra adults or children. This is a real family home with everything you could need for a family vacation, extra bedding, laundry in every master room and a great kitchen. We built a big fire and the kids (from 5 to 15) toasted marshmallows, they loved playing outside. The location and scenery are fantastic and beautiful. Nice and close to Sol Vista and not far from Winter Park - we skied both. We'd love to have stayed longer and explored the environment close to the house. Nila was ever so helpful and answered all our questions promptly.
We recently visited this home for a fall retreat and we were not disappointed. Beautiful and roomy it truly felt like a home away from home. As mentioned in previous reviews the bedrooms are spacious and the washer and dryers, in almost every room, are so convenient, especially when you have the whole house full. I loved that each room gave privacy, but when you want to gather there is plenty of room to do that in the living room and the down stairs theater room. The kitchen and dining room are big and accommodated everyone very comfortably. The home is beautifully maintained and decorated and the panoramic vistas are spectacular, to say the least. Having young children I thought the house was very kid friendly inside and out. There was a swing set, sandbox, tetherball outside and games, videos, books and even high chairs in the dining room to use inside. The weather was wonderful and the views of the trees turning colors were breathtaking. The peace and quiet was much needed and appreciated. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

We visited in July 2011. The home is beautiful and spacious. The home had everything we could possibly need and more. There are washer and dryers in almost all the bedrooms and with a large group that was a huge help! There is a grocery store, and gas station nearby. There are many places to go hiking and do other activities. We have traveled many times and I have never stayed somewhere that I truly felt at home and didn't mind hanging around the house and enjoying the home. This home is a nice escape!
